Today we'll dig back into our archives and showcase one of the oldest chateaus we've found in French lands, two years ago. It was once owned by an important count and after, by successive marriages, the property was passed in turn to the next generations in the family tree. The first written records about this historical landmark were found in in the early 1400s. The building suffered from the French Revolution and was remodeled several times. During this key event the castle was partly looted and eventually burned in the late 18th century by a troop of revolutionaries. In the 19th century it was restored again and given a new life.
With its nickname "Chateau Predator", it soon becomes clear to us why it was given this name. Inside we are astonished by the historical treasures that are still present in this dignified building as the day of today. Yet, this might come as no surprise as we promptly find out the property is severely secured by silent alarms, motion sensors and cameras. Indulge yourself in another tour through a lost hidden treasure, as we venture our way inside one of our riskiest visits to date.

It's nice to see people your age interested in history and antiques. You are so respectful to everything. It seems many young people now a days don't appreciate these treasures. Great job.
It would be great to walk through a time warp and see what everything looked like a hundred years ago.

I can see these two young men going on to be collectors of antiquity. You would be surprised at what youngsters like and love these day. No so different to our generation as you would think. My kids love antiquity. And oddly enough so do my 19 year old grandsons. And their younger siblings also love going to Antique fairs and viewing old empty properties. It’s what is instilled at a young age Lori that makes kids grow up well!

Beautiful job of showing this place. Now is the time to buy the wooden furniture you love, it is out of fashion and goes for really low prices. With time the value will rise again. I enjoy your appreciation of these old historical homes. I live in a home built more than 100 years ago, and furnished with antiques, only the kitchen was modernized 34 years ago shortly after we bought it. All the art is original, and there are many Victorian bronze statues which I collect. It is in need of some repairs, which are gradually being seen to. I think you would find it interesting, even though it is not abandoned. Love your work and enthusiasm…you have a new subscriber, stay safe out there.🖤🇨🇦

Guys this video what can I say! Remarkable! It took me two nights to watch it. The first I fell asleep while in bed and had the most hauntingly beautiful dreams. Of course I had to find out the history of this place. The portrait of the man with the coat of arms is Henri count of Chamford, disputedly King of France Henryi V. What a find! Through that I believe I found out where this place is. Although I am not positive 100% since you did not film the outside of the building. I am still trying to research who the two portraits of the women were. I just wanted to share with you. This is definitely my favorite place you have documented. I stumbled upon your channel only about a month ago! I can’t even imagine the adrenaline you must feel goi g through these places especially this one! Look forward to all your explores. Thank you! You guys need to learn your antiques! Taxidermy and shell collecting were part of leisure time in Victorian era. The animal with the striped face was a badger. The glass set with tiny glasses was for sherry or port. The box on the desk was a traveling writing desk. The twisted ends on tables and chairs was known as barley twist. We have some similar ones. The porcelain set with tray looked like a ladies breakfast set with lid to keep tea warm! Glad you’re wearing masks as black mold is super dangerous!!

In the 1800's taxidermy was all the rage along with cane furniture and making jewelry out of a loved one's hair who had passed away. Post mortem of photos of the deceased was common as death was forever knocking on the door to take your loved one away from even the slightest common cold.

The drawing you found, with the tri-fleur de lis, was Henri d’Artois, duc de Bordeaux and Compte de Chambord. He was the disputed King of France for seven days in August 1830. He was born at the Tuileries palace in 1820, the grandson of King Charles X of the House of Bourbon. His grandfather abdicated as a result of the July Revolution and his uncle too gave up his rights (to the throne) in favor of ten year old Henri. His presence was then requested by Louis Phillipe, Duc de Orleans. However, his mother, the Duchess Du Barry was not allowed to accompany her son to Paris(Henri’s father had been assassinated seven months before his birth) nor was his Grandfather dethroned King Charles X, brother of King Louis XVIII, They, effectively, refused to turn him over to the Monarchy, and after 7 days, the National Assembly declared Louis Philippe of the junior royal line of the House of
    Bourbon.
They fled France and were then officially exiled. They lived for a couple of years in Edinburgh at Holyrood Castle, then Prague, a town on the Italian border, in what is now Slovenia, and a bunch of other places. His mother returned to France in secret in an attempt to raise support for Henri’s claim but fell out with King Charles X when it was discovered she had married without permission and was pregnant. After that debacle, she was only allowed supervised visits with her children. After Charles X died, she saw the children more often at her home in Venice. He had another chance to take the throne after Louis Phillipe was overthrown but wouldn’t recognize the Tri-Color flag of the French Revolution. He created a compromise with the triFleur Bourbon Royal coat of arms in the center but it was rejected by the National Assembly. He married an Austrian Princess but produced no children.
Henri died in 1883 in Austria. Whoever lived in the chateau at the time must have been a supporter of Henri’s claim, as many were, for the remainder of Henri’s life. The supporters were called Legitimists. He was the last male heir in the senior Bourbon Royal Line.

Hi Maureno from fabulous team Explomo, Already the introduction with your wonderful narration and the historical background
information - and also with the breathtaking droneshots of that location was a great pleasure to see. This castle is really very historical,
and it was incredibly interesting to see all these different rooms - some empty, other rooms with remarkable, sometimes really
antique artefacts. - I of course liked the living room with the beautiful furniture, the magnificient paintings and with a lot of
interesting sometimes even strange artefacts the most. Naturally were the rooms, where you could only film very quickly, the most
beautiful and interesting ones with loads of remarkable antiques. - Lovely video documentation of this location, which had a
somehow kinda eerie atmosphere in some parts! - A real Explomo classic of the highest possible caliber!
Wishing you all the best, peace and kindest regards.

Hi Guys! Sometimes houses turn gray inside from smoke in fireplaces. Especially, if the chimney is clogged. Birds called "Chimney sweeps" like to build nests in the chimneys. It causes a big problem. The smoke will come out in the rooms instead of going up the chimney. Sometimes the dampers on the woodstove pipes are set wrong and it will cause smoke to come out of the front of the stove. It will cause spider webs, walls, and ceilings to be dark gray or black. If there are cigarette smokers in the house, the walls will turn orange over a long period of time. Just add 100 years to that and there you go. Be careful and take care. :)

So I love me some taxidermy, I’ll try to name the different animals we see so you guys can identify things you find in the future:
    Kitchen:
White Tail Deer, European Mount (just the skull)
    Pike, body mount
    Living Room 1:
    European Rabbit, body mount
Gemsbok horns (either side of the rabbit)
Duck (Possibly a blue Swedish???) Body mount
2x White Tail Deer, shoulder mount
    European Badger, body mount
    Mouflon, shoulder mount
    Bearded Dragon (?) body mount
    Redheaded Duck, body mount
    Woodcock/Snipe, body mount
    Quail, body mount
    Pheasant, body mount
Corn Crake (rale des genets)- body mount
Three small bird body mounts (a finch/sparrow, an unknown small bird, and what I think is a European Robin)
    Foyer:
Cape Buffalo, scull cap (horns on the skull base)
    Muskrat, body mount
Female Mallard and duckling, body mount
    Western Capercaillie, body mount
    Caiman/crocodile hatchling, body mount
    Red Squirrel
White Tail, shoulder mount and skullcap
    Reeve’s Pheasant (?), body mount
    Sea turtle, body mount
    Shark, body mount
    Living room 2:
    Cobra and Mongoose, body mount
Some of these I had to guess the species since they were kinda dusty and it seems a lot of the lizard ones kinda deteriorated.

Hola Explomo!!!
