It's sad because her idea of "getting to know someone" is this, to her intimacy is drugs, sex, using other people for gain, when Freddie wanted to get to know her. Yes, he was probably or definitely attracted to her physically, but I'm sure he didn't just want to get closer to her for that. She thwarts his attempts to become closer like this

When I was 14 I was amazed by Effie's beauty and confidence and how the Boys looked at her. But looking at her now I just realize that she is a manipulative and nasty person. I mean, having watching the show it was obvious she just fell in love with freddy at the very beginning. I just completely don't understand why did she has to play with them. Freddie came to her and said that he was interested in her and she could just say the same things and they would be happy together. I just realized how stupid and naive i was when i thought her stunnig, even perfect

I think she was that way because even though everyone love her and wanted to fuck her, no one was really there for her, no one saw more than the mysterious hot girl. With freddie she felt something and it scared her. You can see that effy tells freddie he's the only person she can trust. She didn't felt ready to love someone or to be actually loved.
That’s the thing . Effy couldn’t confess her feelings cause she was too scared to show any care. And yes effy is toxic she doesn’t love the attention she gets she doesn’t like to be seen but everyone is so obsessed with her even the peoples who watches the show
People miss the point with the effy character, lots of reviews have missed the point to. Firstly, review her home life. A a disconnected sort of up bringing from a very shouty dad and sometimes depressed mother. She never had the ability to feel proper love because of it. Hence her frosty personality. She uses the sex and drugs because it's the only way she can connect with people. When it gets to much, she forces away. The depression was caused by her brain getting confused
by the allowing of something which her mind didn't
understand, love. Proves she had a damaging childhood maybe.
I thought that was pretty obvious.

I have come to suspect effy has borderline personality disorder.
Effy doesn't scream borderline PD at all, actually. She doesn't self harm or do anything for attention, she never reveals her emotions, never has any outbursts. She internalizes everything and suppresses her pain with drugs. Bipolar disorder suits her better, or just psychotic depression as they show said. A character that showcases symptoms of borderline PD would be Cassie or even Franky, but definitely not Effy.

and in this moment, Effy knew, that she had fucked up.

Sadly, kids would definitely fall for it. They won't see that beneath the fleeting physical satisfaction lies a world of pain and drama.
