    Being able to shut off the IFCS and having the full control over the thrusters would be even more immersive.
    I really hope this will be possible in the future

      Possibly, I really hope they take that approach, but I fear that they might start dumbing down controls to make it more accessible to new players.
      I've noticed recently that star citizens' dev has moved to a "beginner friendly" standard.
      This could be a good thing to get new players that don't have HOTAS/HOSAS into the game, but obviously not for us hardcore guys.
      As ever the balance would be somewhere in the middle. I hope they find a way to incorporate both and ultimately give the choice to the player.
      I guess we'll see, I'm cautiously optimistic though.

    • @Bosio011
      @Bosio011 Před rokem +4

      The best would be just to have the option.
      You press a switch and you controll your ship 100% and really enjoy the endless inertia in zero-G on all axis.
      The same for atmospheric flight where your ship should fall like a rock if you dont give her imputs.
      And for a more beginner oriented approach players can simply stick to coupled and decoupled mode.

      Wonder if they could make it a circuit board or modular you would have to remove from your air craft control, so that new players would not, by accident toggle it on without realizing it small icon flashing saying "flight management box not found"

      I'm going to do a video on this exact topic once I move out in a month or so, it would be pointless doing it now because CIG is currently changing a lot of the keybindings , I think mastermodes will also bring a lot of change to flight bindings. at the time of this video i was running 2 sticks one thrustmaster warthog and one thrustmaster T16000M the twist axis was controlling yaw on the T16000M and the up and down thrust was on the rudder controller, I was not using the Yaw on the rudder controller by my feet because i found that too be too slow for star citizen.

    Are you still needing to provide upward thrust/strafe when in forward motion to maintain your altitude?

    • @faintanomaly
      @faintanomaly  Před 4 měsíci

      Yes that’s right, I’m doing it with pedals in this clip, Thrustmaster pedals that come with the 16000 kit.
      But my understanding is the new update to the game will no longer require upwards thrust input to maintain altitude.

    • @klaric1
      @klaric1 Před 4 měsíci +1

      @@faintanomaly That's really awesome. I fly HOSAS and have been wanting to experience decoupled a bit more but vertical thrust on the t16000 twist axis makes this a royal pain. If you're right about the update that will make world of difference. I would hope that in that scenario upwards thrust would still need to be applied at lower velocities to maintain altitude.

    • @faintanomaly
      @faintanomaly  Před 4 měsíci

      I know they’re trying to get the flight model as realistic as possible, they want to take the game in the direction they showed at CitizenCon.
      That flight demo with the gladius is probably what they want to get things too eventually.
      In that world the upwards thrust is something you’d only really use for landings.
      We’re gonna have to wait and see.
      I know there’s a lot of players who have invested a lot of money in their setups and spent a lot of time learning the game mechanics.
      I just hope a full out war doesn’t break out between CIG and the Pledgers 😂

      I also have a pair of Rudders which is the kit, that came with the T16000M joystick.
      I’m not sure if I’d recommend my setup though, my movement stick’s twist axis stopped working about a month in.
      The thrustmaster warthog works like a charm though but it’s a bit heavy man.
      I don’t know if that helps but i have seen many good reviews of the VKB but I can’t order those because i stay in south africa and they won’t ship here, so I can’t recommend them personally.

      I would love to give a tutorial but with master modes around the corner, a lot of it will get outdated really quickly, maybe once master modes are in live then I could give it a go.(shouldn't take too long till it's live.) I did stop playing with my HOTAS setup though, I was getting a lot of keybinding resets and also a very annoying bug where my upwards thrust would max every time I got in a ship until I depressed the pedals. This led to a funny (but not so funny) bug, where I'd get in a ship and instantly throttle full force into the hanger doors above me 🤣

    Planet n Two moons 😋 Do you have Yaw or roll On your right X Axis atm? I have yaw on it and roll on some VKB T-rudders, kinda want to put yaw back on the pedals but aiming is way better with yaw on the stick or it takes less time to get use to than using your feet. I haven't decided how I'm going to leave it Considering they will be bringing Active flight surfaces to ships for in atmosphere eventually. I dont know I'm pretty phsyc'd about the potential of the project it's been pretty decent to me over the years but, I think I'm lucky LMAO!

    • @faintanomaly
      @faintanomaly  Před 2 lety +1

      To be honest, that's a tough one man. Let me start with my set up. I have a semi budget setup and for that reason my controls are somewhat unconventional. I have a Thrustmaster warthog as my main stick. It controls my Pitch and Roll axis(I came from flight sims like DCS) My secondary stick is the Thrustmaster TM16000, and this controls my forward strafe and/or throttle in general and then ( this is the weird one) it also controls my Yaw. (I've never heard any one using secondary stick for throttle forwards and backwards and lateral movement for Yaw.) I used to use the Z axis on the TM16000(secondary stick) as my yaw, but this being a budget stick, it actually gave out on me (It's so dam inaccurate it jumps all over the place) My last controller is the T.Flight rudder pedals from Thrustmaster. These I use only for upwards and downwards thrust. The Z axis on these is unassigned, it's waaaaayyyyy too slow in my opinion to be used in the fast paced circumstances that star citizen occasionally throws at you(mainly combat and racing.) I love star citizen and I think it's a unique and growing game, I just hope that they can stick to some of those grandiose promises they made at the start(I'm starting to think they're going to make the game more accessible to the mainstream audience(which usually don't have the setups the diehards have and therefor simpler controls.) I hope to be wrong on this, thanks for the comment and input it's much appreciated. Fly safe out there.
