I'm a huge Letterman fan and I've thoroughly enjoyed so many of his episodes (the NBC days were my favorites), thanks to your decades of painstaking work. Here, you've delivered more great content from two other entertainers I enjoyed. Lots of love and appreciation to The Donz!

      Kilborn is sort of a unique combination of humble+smug and obnoxious, but the latter is mostly an exaggerated, entirely affected version of himself, a complete caricature of himself. Check out his instagram, and remember, it's all tongue in cheek. He got out of the business b/c he had gotten bored of it and he did not want to be pressured into being a political/social commentator. It didn't interest him. He saved up his money, retired early, seems like a good guy.

    this is gold; ironic that Kilby joked about being worried about Olberman...One reason Kilby got out of the business is that he was pressured to become a political hack and it held no interest to him. He had many traits that were like a blend of the best late night people: some of that mid-west Letterman sarcasm, the suave charm of Carson. Considering that the broadcast gods have been able to turn formerly bald shlub Jimmy Kimmel into a star, Kilby had huge potential. But he did not blow his money, he's doing fine, glad he's back doing some IG/podcast things.

I couldn’t sleep, and the TV was on CBS, so I just watched Dave Letterman and then Tom. I believe Sarah Jessica Parker was the guest that night (I wish I could find the episode here on yt). Mac The Knife Snyder’s entry into that 12:30 slot at CBS came at a time when Dave was the biggest star in late night TV and the LS was still fresh and hot. I think by 1999 Leno had taken over in the whole ratings game (which of course mattered back then) and CBS was probably ready to put a smug dick like Kilborn in to compete with Conan O’Brien. But I largely agree that neither Dave nor Tom would have, in all their midwesterness- tried to fight it at this point. It was tragic cause LLS never beat Conan, even with Kilborn and Ferguson, and Snyder was a unique joy to have on just chatting with stars late at night.

      The lady's husband died getting greens for dinner. She sees he dies on his way, so opens a can of peas so she can still have greens with dinner.

    "Happiness is seeing Bristol in your rear-view mirror" I wish I could claim Sal Marciano's immortal line but he beat me to it.
    Spent 2 1/2 years at The Mother Ship and as a single guy 'living' there I can vouch for what Tom said, not only lonely at night
    but days too. If it wasn't for the access to civilization that I-84 and Merritt Pkwy. afforded going postal might
    have been an option. When I mentioned to locals working there that I went to 'The City' they assumed it was Hartford. YIKES!

    why not allow comments for trump letterman show

    • @dongiller
      @dongiller  Před 4 lety +10

      Because before I had disabled the comments, they had turned into what every other Trump-related comment section had turned into - ad hominem attacks, pontificating bullshit, tired cliches, idiotic broadsides. Folks can partake in that nonsense in a billion other places online. Not on my channel.
