      Yes please! I love the name Violet but so does my sister and while neither of us are rushing to have kids, I know whoever has a girl will use the name and I'm the kind of girl who loves a good back up plan! I love that it's feminine without being overly girly-girl/babyish and can picture a doctor, or soccar star, or fashionista, or next Prime Minister with a name like it!

Or a little more unique and closer to the original name, nickname could be Mara or Posa. And you could keep the Belle after the nickname like calling her “Posie Belle.” Great ideas for both the names you suggested. (:

    I am a massive baby name fanatic and always find names that I love in these videos, and the biggest congratulations to all the mums out there expecting a baby. What I am really struggling with, though, is this idea of someone "stealing" a baby name. Now, I love the name Willow and always have, but I've never felt so entitled that I can be the only person in the world allowed to use it. A friend named her baby Willow, and I was absolutely thrilled that she recognised how amazing the name Willow was just like I have. If you love a name, just use it. Even if it has already been used by a friend or family, who cares? What difference does it make if there are 2 Willows in 1 family or if your best friend has a child with the same name as yours?

    • @oliviarowe3880
      @oliviarowe3880 Před 2 lety +3

      Personally I hate having a common name (Olivia) in school I was never the only Olivia in my class and then you have to find ways to differentiate who being called. If a friend used the name I liked I wouldn’t want to use it because if our kids are friends I wouldn’t want to have to choose a way to single which one I’m talking to or talking about. And especially is a family member uses the name that makes it even more difficult if you spend time with them. But I agree if it’s someone you won’t see often then it doesn’t matter as much. Just a different perspective ❤️

      UGH !! BABY NAMES CAN BE STOLEN! If I decided to use an extinct name from a deceased relative (for example Carmelo) and my friend uses the name after finding out I'm going to use it but doesn't mention it to me then that's being spiteful ASF! Stealing someone else's idea for a baby name without asking them how they'd feel about it is trashy! No matter what excuse you try to come up with, you should always ALWAYS ASK and DISCUSS it with that family!! Not just have that "Who cares" type of attitude. If you still don't get it then your mind just doesn't go that far. Plain and simple!

    • @azzz7279
      @azzz7279 Před rokem +1

      @@gardensage3352 sounds like you might be someone who has a name that’s super rare. I get it if you want to be creative and not use a name your relatives have since you are connected to them for life. But friends come & go so if you have your heart set on said name then talk to the friend about it first. Unless you chose a name that is completely rare then your child might have classmates with the same name or even make friends with the same name.

    Never tell anyone the names you plan on using. If anyone ever asks tell them a different name that you never actually plan on using. If a celebrity named their child something I wanted I'd still probably use it but if it was someone I knew it would probably ruin the name for me. For Marigold Bee - You could keep similar to Marigold and go Maribel and still keep Mari as a nickname - especially since I've heard Maribel be pronounced like Mary-belle too. Also bee themed names instead of Bee could be Bianca (which could be nicknamed Bee) and even something like Honey! I think Bianca Maribel sounds really cute.
    For Henry - My first thought was Harry, but that is really common especially if you're in the UK XD. Another thought would be the slightly longer Hendrix or Hendrick, although those don't end in an 'ee' sound (although Hendrick could shorten to Ricky!)
    For Lucas and Axel - Those names are so cute and are also two of my faves XD. It seems like you like the 'x' and hard 'c' sounds so I'll share a couple I like with those sounds: Felix, Maxim/Maxwell, Casper, Caspian, and Quinton.
    For Charlotte - I love girl names with gender neutral nicknames too and the ones SJ mentioned are definitely now on my list! But one that SJ hasn't mentioned is that any long Rose name (Rosetta, Rosella (my fave), Rosalie etc) can be shortened to Ross instead! I don't know why but having a little girl named Ross would be adorable - and it can be cute-ified by calling her Rossie or Ro-Ro!

    I have a story about an accidental stolen name. When I was a teen, I started thinking about baby names and for a girl, I fell in love with the name Aliya. It was on my list for YEARS and I never told anyone about it. When I was in my early 20s, my older sister had a baby girl. Her name? Alya. I was devastated - if it had been a more common name then I still could have used it (I have a big brother and two cousins that are all called John) - but I didn't blame my sister since she didn't know. She still doesn't know, and Alya is now 7 years old.

    Oh my gosh who knew so many people would have stolen baby names. So I have a daughter called Honey-May, she is almost 9 now and I have put off having another baby because if it was a boy I honestly wouldn’t know what to name it. So my partners name is James, this is a family name that’s passed down (his dad, grandad, great grandad, and great great grandad all called James) and my dads name is Lee but he writes music under the name Logan. Now I wanted Logan-James it meant a lot to me. However my bother called his two sons Logan-Jay and Avi-James. When my brother called my nephew Logan-Jay I moved onto the name Conan-James and accepted that my brother wanted to treasure my dads name. Only for him to call his son Avi-James after my partner, then within the same few months my dad got a dog and called it Conan (my nephews are 7 and 3). I know I left a long while between children but I honestly didn’t think it would be an issue to just name my child. Now I am STUCK!

    1. I would probably keep Marigold Bee, I doubt there will be too much overlap between the blogger's followers and people who know your kid's full name. If you do still want to change it up a bit I'd keep Marigold and find a new way to honor your MIL in the middle. It's not really the same style, but Melissa means "honey bee" and Marigold Melissa sounds nice together. Bonus M&M as a cute nickname because of the alliteration.
    2. Hector could be called Tory for short to get that long E nickname in there. I'm personally not a huge fan of repeating an initial, but Stanley does go really well your other kids and has the same vibe as Henry. Wesley maybe?
    3. I'd probably keep the names to stand your ground against your MIL. The idea of letting her win by giving up the names really grinds my gears. Besides, if you never visit her petty malicious *ss anymore it's not like there will be an opportunity for baby Lucas Axel and Lucas and Axel the puppies to get confused, now is there? You could also name your next pet after her, see how she likes it. But in all seriousness, that is such an awful thing for her to have done and I can totally see how this might have just ruined the names too much for you to still feel comfortable using. Lex or Alec maybe?
    4. I really like a lot of SJ's suggestions for you, I have a very similar naming style. I especially love Robin, I think that's a tragically underused name. Charlize, Charlene, and Lottie are similar to Charlotte but don't really fix the Charlie part of the problem. Caroline is also similar, maybe nn Carrie? I'm fairly sure there are a few male actors named Carrie (but I think they spell it differently?) so it still kind of has the gender neutral vibes. Matilda could be called Matty for a more boyish nickname. Juliet nn Jay, JJ, Jules, or Jet. Cassandra nn Casey or Andie. Stephanie nn Stevie. Samantha nn Sam. Veronica nn Ronnie or Nicki. Winifred nn Freddie. Frances nn Frankie (I personally prefer Annie as the nn but that isn't gender neutral. Although I suppose Frances IS so it's kind of flip flopped, lol). Francesca or Francine can also be Frankie. Danielle/Danica nn Dani. Theodora or Dorothy nn Theo. Cornelia nn Corey. Henrietta nn Henri. Rosemary nn Remy. Aurora or Lorelei nn Rory. Roxanne/Roxana nn Rocky. Rachel nn Rae. Wilhelmina nn Billie. Philomena or Philippa nn Phil. Georgia nn Georgie. Nicolette nn Nicki. Christina nn Chris. Victoria nn Tori. Alexandra nn Alex or Andie. Melinda nn Indie. Miranda nn Andie. Holly/Olive/Olivia/Ottilie nn Ollie. Elizabeth nn Eli. Rebecca nn Beck. Thomasina nn Tommy. Adrienne and Erin are classic feminine names that sound similar to masculine names, not quite the same thing as the rest of the list but a similar vibe.
