  • No crank , no start , no gauges , no link to obd2 scanner. No power to crank relay , no power to fuel pump. Did key relearn, cleaned all ground wires, pulled ecm and bcm , inspected both looked fine , reinstalled. Checked all fuses and relays inside and out under hood. Decided to recheck fuse from battery on the ecm wire , it was corroded 12.6 going in , nothing coming out. Cleaned contact points in fuse holder ,tightened them up , put fuse back in , she fired up with all systems working. Be sure to check the ecm wire fuse from battery in the trunk , just because it's a good fuse does not mean it's connected , the contacts in fuse holder must be clean.

Thank you very much sir. I spent three weeks working on an 05 and was stumped. This solved it. I should have started with the basics. Loved the commentary also!!

    Loved your commentary.
My issues are common to all Saturn's. Mine is a 2003 Saturn Ion 2.2 engine ( I don't know how, but I think it's 130, but It has lots of power for my daily driver).
I figure I put $3600 in it after 12 years =$300/yr not including oil and all filters.. Got it for free from "Xeena, Warrior Princess". Towed it home. Researched Saturn's.
I haven't replaced Tining Belt ...yet, 145000 miles.
It's in garage now awaiting used ECM $150 + labour. ($300-$400 included in my 12 year estimate).
Also be aware Windshield Wiper Transmisdion, a common failure on Saturn's- all rubber parts??? Replacement is steel.
    I hD no start problem.
    Bought new starter.
    Bought new Ignition Switch.
    NOPE!
Likely the second ECM $150. First one I bought 12 years ago to get it running cost me $40 same junkyard.
I never saw all the junk, fuses & such coming from my battery located in the trunk. That's new to me. Never thought of that. Nor the relay near gas pedal.
    Lots to learn. Thank you.
All in all my Saturn costs me $300/yr. to fix.
I say that's a darn good deal since I got it for free. (Noticed some guy was around the engine when I gave it a once over).
    Great little NA made sedan.
I expect 500000 miles out of it!!!

    I think that’s a 2004, and not a 2005, I’m only using the headlights as reference

Don't believe you should have any worries about anyone stealing a Saturn , If they do they will bring it back .
