Foreword:
This has been my daily driver to cool, the TCL portable air conditioner. Purchased last year of around May or June. And so far I have no complaints, it works as it should, and it's a real air conditioner.
Modification:
I did some modification of this unit specifically to aid its noise. The sound absorbing material will absorb some of the sound reflection within the housing of the unit. Since it is almost hallow where the compressor is in place.
The compressor doesn't have any sound deadening material but I believe the higher model of this unit has some of it including the sound absorption at the front housing.
I did put some cheap sound deadening material to its compressor and the exhaust fan enclosure and it made a huge difference. There is also a sound absorbing material at the front housing in which is I forgot to take a picture.
For air filters, I've added a (I don't really know what it's called) but it is a tape similar to window screen and its sticky. I called it screen tape. Just to name it. Basically it acts like a magnet to capture dust when it reaches the filter to prevent it from getting inside the evaporator coils. Enhancing the filter effectiveness without affecting its airflow.
For the exhaust air intake, I used the same screen tape I called to act like a mesh to prevent insects from getting inside the unit and also to act as a dust magnet. I've used much denser filter thing before but it affects the performance of the unit.
This unit originally doesn't come with an exhaust intake filter.

Needs maintenance
Hi, does this unit automatically completely shut off when it reaches the desired temperature or does the compressor only shut off but the fan stays on? Thanks
The compressor normally cycles from On to Off once the set temperature is reached. Leaving the fan in operation for continuous cooling.
@markili114 ok perfect thank you! The A/C I currently have turns the fan off also when compressor shuts off which is very very annoying while sleeping. The sudden change of noise wakes me up at night. I need one like this that the fan always stays on.
@@MidnightClubin I think you have turned on the eco mode that's why it also turns off the fan.
@markili114 I appreciate the reply. I had 2 other brand portable A/Cs that would turn off the fan also and there was no way of disabling this feature. I just bought this TCL Portacool 12000 btu today and you were right, it doesn't turn off the fan unless im eco mode! 😄
@@MidnightClubin you are welcome! Just a few reminders so it won't happen to your unit. Unplug when not In use since the unit doesn't actually turn itself off. It's only in standby mode. If you won't use the unit for a long time, the battery of the remote control must be removed to prevent malfunction.

nasa cool settings po tas after ilang mins ay nawawala yung cooling effect tas parang fan nalang umaandar but still in cool settings.
Cooling cycle po nya yun. Try decrease temperature

It doesn't required draining po. Condensed water from evaporator coils will evaporate back into air due to heat from condenser coil. As this cycles the cooling is enhanced.
Do you know where to buy a new wheel blower , i have the same unit , i hope you will notice this comment

Sir i have a question about the outlet you used. Pwede ba yong ordinary outlet lang or ngpa install kayo ng bagong outlet just for the portable ac? Thanks po!
Yung outlet ko po dyan pinalitan ko. Naka extension cord kasi ako dati yung 2000watts max pero masyado mahaba ang cord.
Napansin ko during heavy load umiinit yung cord pero gagana padin sya. Kaya ang nangyari sa unit ko medyo humina yung fan sa evaporator pero gumagana padin naman and sakto padin yung hangin kasi hindi sya mag form ng ice.
Ang ginawa ko po nag DIY po ako ng extension cord. Bumili ako ng around 1 yard ata yun basta yung dalawang braso ang haba haha!
Pero yung cord po na yun ayun talaga yung cord for electrical wiring at home for air conditioner yung makapal tapos puro copper ang laman. Tapos po heavy duty na sockets and yung frame nya.

how noisy it is Is it possible to sleep with the air conditioner running?
Yes it's beside of my bed hehe although without the mod it's loud since when I open this for the first time the first that I look is noise insulation which is not present. That's why I installed some in comparison to the 1.5hp variant. I believe the other version exclusive to SM Malls has some noise insulation already installed but only to the front chassis same with the 1.5hp. Though as the unit ages it's noise is generally much lower now
Hello po. Planning to buy this ngayong napaka init na season sa pinas, question po, paano po pala ang cleaning nito? need pa din po ba sya ipa professional cleaning? then pa confirm po yung saksakan nito is dapat dedicated only for aircon na outlet? sana mapansin salamat po!
May free cleaning po ang TCL if under warranty pa sya. Yung service center nila mismo ang maglilinis since mahirap sya buksan. Pero yung unit ko po ako ang nag mamaintain. Depende na din siguro kung gaano kadumi yung kwarto. Mas maganda po ang 1.5HP nya due to blower design eto po kasi yung blower nya for 1HP hindi sya tube centrifugal meaning po yung air flow nya kulang sa kabilang side. And yes po dapat po dedicated yung outlet nya hindi po naka extension. Pwede kayo mag saksak ng ibang gamit sa outlet nya pero dapat low powered lang and hindi senstive sa fluctuations. Pero mas maganda po if dedicated lang for AC. Three prongs yung outlet nya one for grounding. Message nyo po ako sa FB if ever po may questions po kayo. How can I make this model blow cooler air
How often po dapat dini drain yung water nya? Will there be a sign na kelangan na sya edrain? Thanks in advance for the answer.
Not required po I-drain since this is a fully self evaporative system. Yung condensation po ginagawa nya into vapor then kasama na po yun sa exhaust nya lalabas. Pero kapag hindi nyo po sya gagamitin for 1 month doon nyo po sya I-drain yung bottom drainage para hindi mag mold.

Not required po ang draining since fully evaporative sya. Meaning po it will collect condense water to the tank then later spray those collected water to the condenser which will then help cool the unit thus improving its efficiency and turns the collected water into moisture. 2 Years ko na gamit yung sakin every cleaning ko hindi naman napupuno yung tank. Pero everytime na ginagamit ko yung drain sa evaporator ayun yung dinidrain ko to prevent mold growth and para hindi mag bara yung lusutan ng tubig pababa sa condenser. Yung drain sa baba not required na.

Hindi ko ginagamit auto mode kasi nilalamig na ako. Basically, it sets the temperature to 23c. And switches to fan only when the temperature is already 23c. Bascially, pointless ang function na yan sa climate natin since ang average temperature natin is 27 - 30c so lagi padin sya gagana.

Howd yours get down to 26 degrees
It is what it is. I guess? But it's not accurately cooling to 26c. It actually cools more depending on the environment outside and room size. Mine when I set to 26c it cools below 24c then it will ramp up to 26c after 2 to 3 hours or it depends.
Yung saken ayaw mga cycle nung compressor pag below 25C di na cguro ma reach yung ganun temp. Hanggang 26C lang sya nag auauto off pag malamig na. Nag convert nako sa dual hose ganun padin . Mas matipid kasi sa kuryente pag mag cycle sya nasa 5kwh lng pag 26c pero pag 25c pababa naka set aba 7kwh sa 9hrs na gamit

Depende po yan sa outdoor and indoor temperature. Pero as by design po designed talaga sya to run longer than conventional analog air conditioners. Actually po the longer in runs mas mataas ang savings. Tsaka I made an observation with this particular unit. Kapag na reach nya ang set temperature below 27c continues parin ang cooling nya sometimes it will cycle at 25c then after that lagi na 27c ang cycle nya. Ganon din po in your case at 26c. And based sa observation ko it will run continuously up to 4 to 5 hours before sya mag cycle every 10 to 15 minutes. Ang cooling capacity kasi neto is 23c lang po. Hindi po recommended ang pag convert sa dual hose since hindi na magiging balance yung thermal transfer nya. Kahit din po dual hose ang PAC kukuha padin sya ng indoor cooled air kasi required ang cool supply ng air para maging efficient ang thermal heat transfer. Hope this helps!

mejo malaki,since hindi nmn po ito inverter. 1hp ung sakin bought nung March2023 bill from 1,600 ndgdgan from 700-2k lalo na nung ksagsagan ng init,
All appliances po hindi po fixed ang wattage meaning po kahit mag cycle yung compressor nya hindi ON OFF na 1100 watt kahit hindi inverter
