LITR can also be a tear-jerker at at least one point. Absolutely brilliant storytelling.

I loved everything of Percy that I have read but Love In The Ruins is my favorite.

    Love that Line about Love!
Did you both plan to wear purple for this discussion?
Needless to say, thoroughly enjoyed this _Royal Purple_ Percy 2-person roundtable.
Thank you both for this gem.
Aside: what would it take for this novel become a film?

      Haha! Didn't plan it.
Thanks - as to the film, you couldn't do any of that Love Clinic stuff!

Indeed. There would have to be similar cinematography to how the Decalogue or works of Alfred Hitchcock portrayed scenes.
Or even, for that matter, that 3 hour long _Brave New World_ movie; that didn't explicitly show the illicit fornication but it was clearly implied.
Hey, it's my pleasure. You're welcome!
I'll keep my radio, err computer tuned in for the next CC installment.

This reminds me, I could not find where we had the discussion about angels and physical reality. But that they play any role in the creation of physical reality is specifically condemned in an 11th century ecumenical council. Now contingently clearly they are causes of effects, but given the nature of cosmology I am still uncertain as to my specific question about corruption. As a good rule of thumb though, since no one is speaking about it and it is not a super obscure unintuitive idea, I am going to conclude it is either much more technical than I assume, or has some error in it. Either way, it is above my ken. But angels certainly can not be equivilent to universals then. I think we must largely be left with St.Thomas Aquinas` view here, which is neither surprising nor bad. I ought to study the Wisdom Books more, clearly I do not know my limitations well enough.
I did submit the issue of entropy to Askafriar on the Thomistic Institute`s CZcams channel, though it might be too technical for that method.

Any chance you could ever do Gene Wolfe’s book “Peace”? Wolfe was a Catholic and even prominent sci-fi/fantasy writer Neil Gaiman said that Wolfe is one of his favorite authors.

I did an episode on Gene Wolfe already, mainly focusing on Book of the New Sun. Maybe I'll cover him again at some point. I had many people including a priest request that I discuss him. www.catholicculture.org/commentary/ep-77-gene-wolfe-catholic-sci-fi-legend-sandra-miesel-fr-brendon-laroche/

Have you any discussions on JF Powers? Evelyn Waugh once paid a visit to Powers. There’s even a photo online of them sitting together.

@@CatholicCulturePod , if you haven't read Powers' Morte d'Urban, you must! It's a very funny novel but also extremely serious. And it's that rare thing, a perfect novel.
