Natalie Harris i mean yeah it’s cool that Tyra did that, but in the end it’s supposed to be a modeling competition and it’s not realistic that all people of all ages, shapes and sizes can become a high fashion model - This is just the harsch reality of the business - In the real world there ARE restrictions on who can become a model, and antm having no restrictions on who can apply is just setting these people up for an unrealistic view of the modeling world and not preparing them for the harsch reality of the business (which used to be the purpose of the show, but now antm has just turned into another reality show)

Sandra, I understand you respect and you are scared about what others from your religion may say, but remember you chose this, if you want to continue and become a top model, there will be moments where it will be a career vs your peers. The thing is sometimes is either embrace it and don't think about the haters, or think about the haters and become afraid, because that is what they want.

I don't think it necessarily works the way this show is trying to make it look. In order to become a top model you won't "just have to" get naked or shoot in intimate positions with men. There are places for everyone in the industry. And sometimes Christian/Muslim/religious girls aren't just thinking of others from their religion judging them, they don't want to go against their religion's teachings *for themselves*. When that's the case, it is disrespectful, anti-feminist and objectifying to be like "Ugh you're a prude just take your clothes off and stop wasting our time", not the opposite. If that's just the reality of the industry, then we shouldn't be asking the models to adhere to it, it's the industry that should change.

Sandra should have not gone home because of this and Khrystyana should have not been in the bottom two! Honestly there are much weaker models in this competition! They both aren’t comfortable around men and the judges should have taken that into consideration. This is a factor of why they didn’t do well in this photoshoot. Also Tyra is coaching them for the real world and in the future they will do more shoots like this so she should have had a talk with them before hand knowing their situation.
The male models are looking amazing. Totally thought they'd overshadow the girls but the contestants all look so sculpted and gorgeous! Loving this diversity

The only thing they're "breaking" is the $50 budget for the season by using this gold paint. ANTM has never been the standard in the industry but it seems like it's completely turned away from any modeling aspect of the show since like....Saleisha won in cycle 9 lmao (cycle 16 was modelesque imo too)
Alex S probably because it evolved. It’s not the same because modeling isn’t the same. This is actually how modeling is currently. Everything is about social media , and being different, and outside the box
Modeling is still a highly competitive industry that focuses on fashion realities instead of the fantasy land that Tyra's been perpetuating on the show since after 2008. The show does not represent how modeling is currently, at all. There's a difference between promoting acceptance in the industry and the bullshit that ANTM does....for example, was giving ALL of the girls best photo a few weeks ago besides the bottom 2 because the episode preached acceptance representative of reality??? No. Only a hand full of girls the show has casted in the past decade go on to achieve actual success as a model, but the majority of them just book 1 Neutrogena commercial and then sell Tummy Tea on instagram after shooting wraps.
Alex S she gave them all best photo because they tied. No one persons photo looked better than the other. Only two who didn’t take good photos were Erin and Christina which is why she didn’t give them best photo. I don’t know what modeling you’ve seen but American modeling specializes in social media right now. Because that’s where most people look for things. Nobody reaches for a magazine anymore. Which is why she focuses on personality, and authenticity because that’s what attracts an audience. This isn’t 2008 anymore.
Alex S also it’s not her job to make sure they have a successful modeling career. It’s her job to show them the ropes and things they need to know. Most girls leave antm with a different outlook and decide modeling isn’t what they thought it was and choose to pursue something else 🤷🏼♀️

I wonder how Tyra and the producers feel about ANTM’s years of pressured nudity and uncomfortable situations in light of the “Me too” movement. I doubt that their authentic views have actually changed, but I wonder whether they would sing a different tune in interviews.
Honestly that is such a great question and I never really thought about it. I used to watch the show when I was younger but stopped when I was old enough to see how incredibly problematic the show was. I haven't watched any recent seasons besides a few clips like this that randomly pop up in my recommended. Back in it's "glory days" ANTM really did try to force nudity especially after someone expressed that they didn't want to pose nude because of their own personal beliefs. I looked it up and she still hasn't really addressed the issue since you left your comment 7 months ago, so I get the vibe she will never address it just like all of her/the shows problematic treatment of contestants. I hope she will eventually address these issues properly because all the former contestants and young women/men that idolized her because of the show deserve it being addressed
