    This is how it works
It's an optic illusion a strobe light is used to illuminate the water droplets and the trick is very simple. ... And finally, if the strobe frequency is slightly higher it will ilumina-te the next droplet at a slightly higher position, thus giving the illusion that the drops are moving backwards.

Taras. The illusion works by flashing a light timed with the water droplets. It gives the illusion of the drops are hovering or suspended in the air. Your camera works by taking multiple pictures every second. What you are seeing with the flashes is that the light flashing and your camera are not in sync and thus the light moves either up or down on the video. Also you'll see that the drops don't appear to float the same on the camera as they would in person. This all has to do with the way cameras work. This is also the reason why wheels on cars may appear to go backwards while the car is going forward or even not be moving.
