It's unfair to get punished for crying, crying is an emotion, not something punishable, this includes happiness, sadness, or even anger, or fear.
Nobody has ever been punished for crying since it's an emotion.
And crying is a natural emotion, you know a child cannot be punished for crying.

This is the very reason why a child deserves to be given a smack on their bottom. Rosa ignored repeated warnings from Mrs. Danner to stop misbehaving, swearing, and telling fibs. Rosa also denies any wrongdoing on several occasions throughout the video. Mrs. Danner even gave Rosa a final warning that if she continued to misbehave, use foul language, and tell fibs that she would get her bottom smacked. Rosa still continued to disobey these warnings, that's why she was given a smacked bottom. There was nothing wrong with what Mrs. Danner did, as long as it was one smack with the open palm of her hand on a clothed bottom. I'm glad that Mrs. Danner didn't threaten Rosa with things like detentions or being sent to naughty corners, because it's quite clear to me that those punishments are just false threats that wouldn't have scared Rosa and would have only made her just continue to show complete and utter disrespect towards her teacher. Don't be fooled into thinking that Mrs. Danner has harmed Rosa by smacking her. Rosa is telling fibs throughout the video, so it's highly likely that the smack on her bottom wouldn't have caused any physical pain, and the tears that she continues to cry after having been smacked are completely and totally exaggerated.
I think giving kids a smack on their bottom should be illegal because it's child abuse. Mrs. Danner should've been arrested for hitting Rosa in front of her class.

Any adult authoritarian should be able to use corporal punishment on a child in their care if they have given them ample warnings to either stop misbehaving or being disobedient. That's why kids of today get away with so much. They can get away with just about anything and everything because they know exactly what boundaries that they can push and how far that they can push them without having to be fearful of the consequences.

The teacher shouldn’t be hitting the child because that is abuse. Instead if Rosa misbehaves she should just get sent to the office and get a consequence maybe suspension. Yes she used offensive language and that is unacceptable, she shouldn’t have told any five but she shouldn’t be called a baby for crying because that is mean. If I was the teacher I would just send her to the office. If I was the principal I wouldn’t call her a baby I would just call her mum and suspend her so she gets sent home

What you you do if your children ignored repeated warnings to stop being naughty? It's the threat of being spanked which deterred children from acting so insolantly towards their superiors during a bygone era. Kids had a lot more respect for their elders back then than what they have now.

Far out, it was highly likely that all that Mrs. Danner gave Rosa was one moderate smack with the open palm of the hand on a clothed bottom. That doesn't constitute abuse in my opinion, and it wouldn't hurt a child enough to make them cry or even say "ow". Rosa is the one who is exaggerating the entire thing. After all, throughout the story she continues to lie and tell fibs.
