Hi Charles, congrats again on the 100k mark, well deserved.
Personally I'm not the slightest bit worried about Sesko, the window isn't even open. I personally believe almost every player on the market would prefer a move to Arsenal over almost every other side in Europe, so I think Edu would have his priorities and he'll have no trouble with them. Looking forward to seeing what he's been cooking.

Hey @Charles I still stick with my opinion that our priority should be a right winger and a number 6. Saka can't keep doing this year in and out, for a couple of seasons we have seen his form dip at the end of the season due to him being spent. We should concentrate more on selling as many players as possible; Tierney, Lokonga, Nelson Tavares, Maquinos, ESR, Ramsdale, Nketiah and maybe Partey.

    Hey Charles,
What's your opinion about keeping Tierney for next year as a direct replacement (in terms of squad numbers) for Cedric. We all know how good of a player he is, he can play lb or lcb, plus he is a fan favorite and has elite mentality. We also have enough quality players at the back if he gets injured. I think that having a solid defensive player like Tierney also enables Arteta to maybe experiment with Zinchenko as a left sided 8, utilizing his penetrative passing and minimizing the damage due to his lapses in concentration.
This would conclude business in defense, and Edu can then focus on getting proper quality in midfield and upfront. With the measly amount of 10 million doing the rounds in the news as the price, surely it makes more financial sense for Arsenal to keep him instead of spending another 30 million on a left sided defender like Hato who might take time to settle.
Please let me know what you think!!

Sesko was a interesting case, due to the release clause and form at the end of last season. However, your point about the amount of goals scored last season. I think this highlights that arsenal don't need an outstanding polished no9. With the recent success in "big 6" games I think the experience from this can help the current group of players manage tougher games next season.

If we signed Osimhen, would there be a formation we could change too, that would still allow Kai to play in the team (without wasting him in the left 8 role) Id be interested in hearing you and Benji discuss, again purely and intellectual one, as i see no chance of a formation change or Osimhen coming in.

+1 on the side of now looking for the best option of an attacking forward, but not necessarily a 9 if a good one can't be got. Like most I'm disappointed in not getting Sesko, but as far as going back for him down the road, certainly possible I guess, but who knows who the next big thing/want will be. I hope that "gentleman's agreement" thing works out for him, but you always are wary that if it isn't in writing it isn't real.

  • @Paddywan6
    @Paddywan6 Před 10 dny

I know we need an extra wide player but fitting everyone in with that gets pretty difficult. Saka plays every minute he's fit and we aren't winning by several goals. So on the left there is 1 starting spot for Martinelli, Trossard, new guy, Jesus. That feels a bit bloated.
I wonder if Mikel will try and move Trossard inside this year now we are looking at a winger. He doesn't really fit as the LW in this system but when you need a goal you want him on the pitch. Left 8/9 is sort of the only position that's free.

Greetings Charles great work keeping us informed on a daily basis with the world of arsenal. Not trying to be negative but with regards to Chido, I think it's best we sell him, especially now that he's gathering some traction, because realistically speaking, I don't think he'll play in the PL, knowing Arteta and what he's trying to achieve whrg the club, there's no point giving him a contract without having any potential future plans for him, so I think it's best he continues his career elsewhere.

IMO we just need a game changer in the team. That could be a 9, a LW or even a no 8. I know KDB type players are few and far between but a player of his calibre can chage a game even if the forwards aren't doing the business and its that sort of player who can get you over the line all by themself that we need. Last time we had someone like that was Alexis Sanchez and again he wasn't a no.9.

Not overly bothered with Sesko decision. I agree we need a winger more than a striker. Sell Eddie, move ESR back on the left wing, Havertz, Jesus, and Trossard can cover striker, so priority should be RW. My shout would be Bakayoko from PSV. add Quinten Timber, or Khephren Thuram and keep Partey and Ramsdale another season.

If we were to lose Chido because we capped his wage because he’s young it would mean losing a potential 100m plus forward for pennies in this market. At least we should match what the market is offering. News was that we would focus on bringing in top quality youth talent but we must first protect what we have.

Personally, I think Chido would be wise to stay because right now he seems to have the clearest pathway to first team football over there unlike Bayern where he has to contend with Kane and Tel whereas here it's only Kai.

Charles, biggest priority for Arsenal should be the no. 6 role. I'm a big Partey fan because of how great we look when he plays, but we need to plan for the future without him.
Havertz is turning into the #9 we like but we need an out and out 9, let's not kid ourselves. We need player that is ruthless infront of goal. A striker that doesn't need 4 chances in a game to score 1 goal. Unfortunately, neither Havertz or Jesus has that, although I believe Havertz is growing into that player but he needs competition. Gab Jesus is a front 3 option in mind, no longer a starter.
Hence that no.6 is the biggest priority, we need a ball- distributing, pressure soaking catalyst.

If he can keep up that form across a full season then that’s 27 goals. So we already have the number 9 most people are wanting us to sign. I’d be looking for a player who can play across the front line, thoughts on Kudus? PL proven and capable of scoring out of nothing which is something we need.

On the Sesko situation, we need to start behaving like Madrid. They find their target, hone in on them, sell them on the project and then wait instead of spending ridiculous amounts of money. Mbappe is a classic example.. even 3 yrs after the fact, nobody can argue that Madrid have struck gold. And it was never in doubt that he would only go to Madrid. They put their long term health ahead of short term gains.

@Charles what edu and arteta are doing is they looking for a ST Gimenez Sasko Gyökeres and Evanilson are the top targets i think for there Age for the style of play Zirkzee is a option but not on that top list. I can see this names staying for 1 more year at there clubs Gyökeres i think will stay Sasko is staying i think but we Will see how the market goes. Arsenal do like Tonay Watkins Solanke but they dont think that they are a good fit the Wing position is clear Nelson Nketiah will move out we Will go for a winger like Mane ore Sane who can play both wing position i can see a Rashford coming in he looks like he wants a move to Arsenal he is not happy at United. The time for Partey Lokonga Viera Smith-Rowe is over i dont see them staying 2 midfielders will be added Y.Fofana and Zubamendi ore Nico from Porto can be a good fit Bruno G not a type that will fit us i think

Gentleman’s agreement 😆 no such thing…understand the decision and it will be interesting to see how he develops long term…we are fine at striker…I would be on board with a focus on big spending for midfield or wide attacking…

I never get worked up about these transfers. Truth is you never know. Could be agents spreading ''rumours'' so that they up the value of their client. Sometimes , it's the media and youtubers working us the fans to increase traffic. I now trust the club enough, to basically leave them to work.

I imagine Arteta will be searching for a left footed attacker. Odegaard , Havertz & Saka being the only attacking lefties.

The problem with a gentleman’s agreement, is it’s not worth the paper it’s written on.
Just ask Hurry Kane about his agreement with Daniel Levy!

Surely Sesko realises the vacancy for a 9 will probably be filled and not available next year

I think if you're putting it simply - We've been scoring lots of goals, that's no issue. If you lose Trossard or Havertz to injury you've got someone behind them who can pick up the slack. If you lose Saka though...you're in trouble. We literally NEED a proper right winger, so a striker can wait unless a great opportunity comes up 👍

A new nr 9 is not necessarily. To find a left footed right winger that could challenge Saka and push him is necessary.

The Striker issue is funny as, given the likelihood that Havertz will be 1st Choice next year, trying to sign a £100m player seems futile.
I know it's popular to look at the linked players, but there are high-class, young players out there that could come in, contribute immediately and develop with the rest of the squad over the next 2 seasons. They include:
    Fermin Lopez - Barcelona
    Rayan Cherki - Lyon
    Mathys Tel - Bayern Munich
    Bradley Barcola - PSG
    Elye Wahi - Lens
There are obviously many others as well.
It is the same with Saka. He's going to start on the Right of our attack in every match, if Arteta has his way. Who do we convince to join us in that position, with that in mind?
Forget Oshimen et al. Let's get a young, hungry No.9 in and stop all this chat about the need for a £100m player.

Charles, sorry to do this, it's only the x of June, etc, and accepting this is way too soon for this question: but given how important Arteta's new contract will be for the club and its transfer activities, when do you expect to start hearing about progress?
