- Hello! And welcome to the second video of my new youtube channel! Thank you for watching! Let's take another trip down memory lane: someone quits, a new member joins & I revisit some old demos. Enjoy!
FIRST VIDEO: • SUM 41 ORIGINAL DRUMME...
DEMO SOURCE: • Sum 41 - 1998 Demo Tap... - Hudba
I'm so glad that you started doing CZcams! You are WAY TOO FUNNY to not be in the entertainment industry in one way or another!
Thanks man! It's fun to just revisit some of this stuff!
@@stevo32drumsyou still got it Stevo!
I 100% second this. Hilarious guy and top notch drummer as well.
Yeah this is what music should be. Fun. You can just tell by the look on his face it took him back to a good place.
Your so good, id pick you over Travis Barker any day bro, also you gotta play some screaming bloody murder, that album is peak of the sums
Just want to say how much I respect you laying down the sticks to be a family guy. That’s more punk rock than most people will ever realize.
Thanks man! I'm going to show this comment to my kids the next time they start giving me shit!
Stealing that one too. Except my band never was international fame but we did play a tons of Sum41 covers!
@@stevo32drums At least this answered the question I've had for years now. I was always like, WTF happened w/ SteveO???. Glad to hear it was all good and not some BS.
@@stevo32drums They will still give you shit. But at least you will know you gave your kids all you had.
Lmao 🤣 @@stevo32drums
Its crazy how much our journeys mirror eachother, when you were a drummer in a big international band, i was just a drummer in a basement. Now you're just a drummer in a basement and here i am, still a drummer in a basement, but it's like all finished and nice and I got sound proofing and everything.
You're living the dream!
"What is with all the number names" - Stevo THIRTY TWO
Damn! I should have made that joke!
Man.... Stevo Story Telling during SUM 41's Final Tour is precious makes me cherish the moment more. I'm excited more on what's to come.
Working on some more stuff soon!
It's very noticeable to hear the HUGE NOFX influence on those first SUM 41 songs. Good to have you back!
Yeah I might go over them in a video soon - thanks!
I thought the same! It totally resembles White Trash by Nofx
I was thinking the exact same thing
@@gonzalozamora5715 Lol the whole ending after the bridge definitely reminds me of Murder the Government 😂
Seeing Nofx on their “final tour” twice next week. Seeing Sum41 as soon as I can on their final tour too. Mega nostalgia watching this…
Astronaut was actually one of my favorite songs when I was in high school!
This is probably the first and last time someone did a drum cover of that song, and I couldn't be happier
This is absolute gold for a lifelong Sum 41 fan, getting to hear all about the very early days of the band that no one else has spoken about - delivered in such an entertaining and engaging manner as well! I can tell you're having as much fun making these as we are watching them, thanks for the amazing content Stevo!
That shower cry cutaway was priceless. Super happy to see you back in the spotlight. Big fan of your contributions to Sum 41, and your MTV Cribs segment was one of the lesser known all-time greats from that series.
Thanks man! I HAVE to do one on the infamous cribs episode! hahah
@@stevo32drums Please do! A commentary from you on that segment would be absolutely amazing.
It was the cut back to "Current drummer IN MY BASEMENT" that got me good.
Where can we find that episode? I don’t remember it!
True cool Dad energy. Your kid's are lucky! WE WANT MORE!!!
Can you tell them that? haha More coming!
Damn Steve! Even after about a decade of being a Dad and a realtor full time you definitely still have the chops on that kit. Much respect and welcome back to the limelight!
I love how Stevo's sense of humor hasn't changed at all.
Fuck man, you should be in their last tour... You're the Sum 41's heart and soul!
Also, as it is traditional to my culture, come to Brazil 🇧🇷
My dudes got golden retriever energy and I love it.
Now I've been called a dirty dog before .. but never a golden retriever... Moving up in the world!
@@stevo32drums😂
Man, I remember scouring lime wire for all these old demos 😂 this is great
Limewire! haha thanks!
Ha! I rememberLimewire, aka "how to give the family PC venerial disease"
This is the most inspiring thing ever, playing music purely for the fun of it and it’s infectious. Thank you legend 🤘
Thanks man - I'm enjoying it!
It's so warming to see your genuine happiness as you travel back in time. These have been a real treat so far. Thank you!
Thanks for watching! It's fun!
Band history, play through and amazing humor!! Brilliant one! Loving this Stevo!
Thanks! It's fun going through all this stuff - great times!
Gotta say that "suit and tie is not for me" really gives me NOFX "aw hell he's even more punk than me" lol. Love this man. Set up my old kit today in the garage.
Absolutely! I love that song and record
Thanks for watching my second video! Here's a link to the first one if you haven't seen it yet! czcams.com/video/-UmdNOcul3c/video.html
When the music of my childhood is all coming back and the bands are all touring again and “Sum41” are on their final tour… this violates the laws of ROCK
You need to grab the devil by the horns and….!!!!
I’ll see you on tour
I can't wait for the story of how sum 41 ended up doing a Christmas song with Tenacious D
Oh man! I DEFINITELY need to do that one! that's my favourite collab we ever did!
Also cover how the Kerry king collaboration happened too!
And how Reign In Pain came about to be on a sludge compilation. And the remix of “Get Back” with Ludacris
Turning 32 and watching these videos is a surreal feeling. Grew up with your guys' music. Love ya, Stevo.
Me too! watching this at 32! Fan since age 9!
@@rockboy360 ayyyyy.... Happy 32 to you too, brother. Guess Sum 41 is dad rock now 😭
I'm also 32. But it has only just begun... for when the sum is 41... that year is gonna be FUN
Damn. Just hit 40 😂
Same! 32 with a 1 year old now, showing him Sum 41 and NoFx!
I don't know how my algorithm knew I needed to find this but I'm so happy it did
Steve, if you ever read this: I was born in 90, Sum 41 was a formative part of my young teens. You were the first gig I went to (Cardiff, '03). Learned to drum, watched the DVDs extensively, did the impressions, hadn't seen anything like it before. Feels like a lifetime ago! You haven't changed!
Seeing the smile on your face as you listen to the song (as well as go through memory lane i assume) is just incredible! Thanks for these videos.
Yeah I had not heard that one in forever ! I can't remember when we stopped playing it probably 1999/2000
I have this very vivid memory of seeing Sum 41 play at Edgefest ‘97 on the B-stage, in Saskatoon. Had no clue who you were. Blown away by the energy of the band. The guys had choreographed dance moves. It was incredibly entertaining. Loved it. And then you guys hung out in the crowd and watched the next bands. Oh the memories…
I think it must have been 1999? I don't know if I was allowed to go to Saskatoon in '97 haha ... Thanks for watching!
2001 Calgary for me, Blink headline but we all know who stole the show.
Love the old demo and your playing! Stories are great too: Now we need to hear about how Cone joined!
One of the greatest concerts i ever too was sum 41 in the early 2000.. thank you
best drummer in the basement history
I have a lifelong friend I met in middle school. In high school the first Sum 41 album dropped and my friend, a drummer himself, was like "yo their drummer is super under rated, not sure why more people don't talk about him". That really stuck with me and I started paying a lot closer attention to your drumming parts.
I like you guys already! thanks!
Man I'm glad I came across this. Sum 41 was my favorite band in the 2000s. Looking forward to learning more with each video.
Whenever I think of Sum 41, I think of how goofy you guys were. Seeing your enthusiasm and humor shining in these videos definitely shows that that wasn't just a gimmick.
I love everything about these videos Steveo. Just what the youtubes need at this very moment.
That's nice to hear! Thank you!
Thanks for doing these, Stevo. You were always just an all-round great entertainer, drums included. Hope you and your family are keeping well.
Sat watching that with a grin for the whole video! 🤣 Looking forward to the next video!
Also, Astronaut chorus reminds me of Graves era Misfits!
Man...Sum 41 was such a monumental piece of my teenage years. The first band I was in was literally us trying to recreate the magic that is Sum 41. We had the hair, the Dickies shorts, reenacted the shenanigans from Cross Your T's and Gouge Your I's-we ran the Sum 41 gamut as far as we could.
So glad to see you thriving and loving life. Kudos a million times over and ALL THE RESPECT for stepping away for your family!
dude if we're just going through the history of sum41, this is gonna be a fantastic youtube channel
Im going to do all sorts of stuff- sum stuff, bands that inspired us, drummers that inspired me, road stories, covers ... just gonna start trying stuff and see what seems fun
@@stevo32drums that all sounds awesome stevo! can't wait!
Glad to see what you are up to these days!
Thanks for watching!
Fills my heart with such joy to watch you look back on these demos. Just awesome! ❤ Great job!
This is just so fun watching you dig through the archives for the origins of the band!
Dude, LOVING this channel, I think it displays your humor (and ofc talent) really well! Can't wait to see how much it grows 🤘
Thank you! I will be posting more stuff soon!
Love seeing that you came back for seconds 🙌
I couldn't resist!
New favourite YT channel. Grew up listening to Sum 41 so this is gold content. Thank you!
Keep it going with these videos they're great. Love your storytelling. Also still after all these years you're still so smooth banging yhe drums
Stevo, thank you so much for making these videos! I used to play in a couple Canadian punk bands around the time Sum41 was starting out. The bands were Midpoint and Deville. We never found success like Sum41, but were part of the same scene and at least got to do some Warped Tour dates, and toured with Good Riddance, Belvedere, Downway, and so on. Then you mentioned Closet Monster! We definitely played with them a few times and maybe even met them personally, so this makes me realize how small the world is. I'm looking forward to watching all your videos in the future and enjoying the nostalgia!
That's awesome man! Thanks for watching!
I only now realise, how much I've missed hearing/watching you drum. You're still as amazing as I remember.
I love these videos, I'm eagerly waiting for the next one.
Cool thank you!
Such a shot of nostalgia watching this, you’ve instantly got the hang of this youtube stuff and looking forward to seeing more!
LOVING these videos!! keep them coming!! You are an AWESOME storyteller!
I love the flow of your videos ! Perfect mix between drumming, stories from the old days, and typical Stevo32 humor ! I would love to see a full cover of AKNF in the future !
Thanks = I will def get to those songs ... as well as other songs that were influential !
First! Great to see another video! I really like your humor and comedic timing/editing!
Thank you!
Man your videos genuinely put a smile on my face. I see you're having so much fun and so do I. Thank you for this
You were one of the reasons that I started playing drums back in the day. A huge influence on me and my very first band. It’s awesome to see you back behind the kit!
Houston, we’ve had a throwback.
The guitar player being called the brown sound was probably the funniest thing i ever heard when i found out about you guys, and yeah man he can SHRED. This channel is so good thanks so much again for doing this for us.
Brownsound is, to use some Australian slang, a bloody ripper
@@stevo32drums Bloody oath mate! He's a cracking guitarist. You also do a fair dinkum Aussie accent! G'day from the land of Aus haha
@@stevo32drums he is a bloody ripper and I don't mean on date night
This channel was a great find and glad ur doing well. A natural in speaking too let alone the drums.
Thanks for watching!
Love it, I really like these early Sum 41 stories and you're just funny as hell!
1st video was posted 5 days ago, 2nd video today and we’ve covered the formation, first tv show and first demo! At this rate we’ll be on episode 50 and have moved onto Sum 47 by the end of the year!
Great vid’s btw! Awesome to get some unknown and firsthand insight into the band.
Thanks for watching! I will probably start venturing into some other things - like bands that influenced us/me drummers/songs I like etc ... just wanted to lay some groundwork and tinker with stuff.. thanks for watching!
Right on dude! Fellow basement drummer here. 🥁 Welcome to CZcams! 🎉
Awesome man! Thanks for watching!
I love how much fun you’re having doing the old songs and sharing Sum 41 history. Keep this shit going!
Finding your channel made my night! Love it, keep it up!
Speaking of Half Hour of Power, I would love to hear you play "32 Ways to Die" on this channel! I remember trying to learn that song on the drums back in the day.
Oh man... I will have to people - people have asked! It's kind of embarrassing that one! I will have to do it and explain where it came from
@@stevo32drums That would be great! I would love to hear the story behind it.
Turn up the kick drum a bit, shall ya? Either way, perfect editing and funny as fuck.
Got it! Thanks !
Highlight of the day. Thank you so much, this was delightful 🤘
im so glad i found this,i remember back in the days,i had to copy your albums so many times, becase me and my best friends listening it so many times the layer came off the cd,good old day,but you still got it and i love the little extra info for the songs, keep up the good work, you still smashing it.
i would‘ve never thought that your videos would be THAT good. great drumming, really interesting sum history, cheeky humour, great editing…
i‘m really enjoying this and i‘m really looking forward to more videos!
ps: don‘t worry, you look more like „wet garbage“ to me.
hahaah ... my wife said "at least it isn't wet garbage" when I showed her the message haha ... Either way I take it as a compliment !
@@stevo32drums hahaa, one is lying 😂
Holy E-CA-HI! I hear Astronaut!!!
The one and only!
So happy to see you reminiscing and happy. Stevo 32. Total legend. Sum 41 will always hold a special place in my heart. Keep up the great work on your channel! ♡🤘
Very NOFX. I love the fact we are revisiting the lesser known side of Sum41.

Vote Basement Dummer 2024!
Your comedic timing is impeccable! We need more of these bite size funny stories!
grew up listening to you, man. so awesome to see you still doing well. thanks for all the music and memories!
Mate, absolutely loving your vids and stories. Please keep it up. You've always been naturally entertaining and listenable, appreciate you coming back!
I enjoy the energy thank you for these videos, fun stuff
So glad to see you on CZcams, man!)) It's so nostalgic!) Thank you!)
The smile on your face playing these old songs truly warms my heart! You guys were the reason I started playing music in the first place. My first tattoo was the 41 with walking disaster on the same place that Deryck has it. I remember meeting you guys backstage back in 2011 on my first festival when I was 15 and getting some post-it's signed by the whole band (my best friends dad worked as a manager and got us some kind of super tickets). Still one of the biggest days of my life!
Loving these videos Stevo, it’s awesome to see you back on the kit too 🥁 the energy you bring is inspiring!!
bro, you are the best! screaming bloody murder was my last favorite sum41 album. you have a presence, sense of humor, and overall, the drummer's drummer personality. so relatable. we love you!
Legend! Loving these videos mate! Cheers!
I love that you take us back in history. This is great!
Very cool.
Glad to see you on CZcams.
I loved your vocals on what we're all about.
I’m 41 now, but you guys made me wish I was Canadian back in 1999 when I was 16 in punk bands in the US. Always thought you were so underrated as a drummer.
These videos make me happy, breath of fresh air :) Thanks Stevo!
Love how much you're smiling during this. Keep the videos up mate, I'll be here!
i love these videos, im so fkn genuinely happy rn :D
Glad you are making videos🤙 doing this must bring back alot of memories.
I can put to words how much I appreciate your videos! Thanks for that!
It's really cool to see you reminiscing and sharing some stories with us! Really good to see you again! Keep em coming.

Love the channel so far. Keep it up!
I'm enjoying the hell out of these videos, man. Keep the good content coming!
Loving these so far, you and Sum $1 were definitely heroes for my musical taste growing up!
This is so awesome! Love to hear the early Sum 41 stories. There was a time as a teenager when I tried to get my hands on anything Sum 41 related and found this song online, great fun memories! 😁
Great channel and always a pleasure to see you smash the drums!
Just keep loving Stevo more and more! He is absolutely an insane Drummer and a medular part of 41!
Forever Stevo
I was grinning through this whole video, always good to see you enjoying yourself behind the kit man! Looked like you loved playing astronaut
Stevo, these videos are amazing! Bringing back so many memories being a kid growing up with your music in the late 90s/early 2000s. Keep up the good work
Great start to the channel. So cool to see candid conversation about the band, beginnings, the songs & to see you play. Hope it continues to grow!
Honestly like that youre going throught the Sum 41 timeline in these videos!! Hope you keep going with this type of narration its very interesting!!
Hi Stevo, cheers from Australia too. Be insightful for you listening to each album start to your last recording with the band, and demonstrating your favourite passages of drums/ musicianship via play along. Hope it doesn't seem self-indulgent, but would be fun. You naturally make it fun mate!
Edit... you've definitely dusted off the cobwebs Stevo!
It's awesome to see you starting a channel! I love sum 41 and you certainly helped them become the band they are today!
