I take apart and repair some failing buttons, clean gunked up terminals, and also install an electrical tape mat to help prevent knob jitter on my Korg EMX-1
Electrical current over the contact of two points can have a chemical interaction with elements in the environment, and will leave corrosive build up or attract elements to the surface of those contacts. That is why over time you will develop those trace corrosion. Electric current helps speed this process up. Look up electrolysis and how galvanization works.
This offering is a real gear saver for me. Love emx 1! The best artifacts! Thank you for the detailed demonstration. I do believe I can fix my machine now. Ya'he🙏🎶🐉
Because of these machine is bought second hands down from many people we don't how many of them is smokers and therefore is best to clean the emx everywhere to get the nicotine smell and dirt out
On my emx, i have some bad contacs on almost every synths and drum pads. I still can play but i have to push stronger on the pads. Does anybody knows how can i repair this?
I have all that same failures on my EMX-1 and also the same issue with the main encoder is happening with all rotary and linear encoders on my Korg Kontrol49 MIDI controller. I think this issues belongs to the encoders. Because it's a usual failure that most Korg devices have. If anyone knows something to fix this encoder issues, please comment below.
Thanks for making this! I was able to save my Emx-1 that was a jittery paperweight!
Best video on CZcams! Helped me a ton!

Either this is great comedy, or we're all fucked.
