The National is CBC Television's flagship news program. Airing seven days a week, the show delivers news, feature documentaries and analysis from some of Canada's leading journalists.
We sure need this! Living alone, getting older, having a harder time getting around! It all takes a toll!❤
We need more great videos or broadcasts like this to make people aware of the needs of our aging population. I just turned 53 and I am starting to become keenly aware of how fast time goes by. I fear a little bit for what my "Golden Years" will be like but hopefully i'll cope well.
Keep.....wait till you turn 71!
Yes!
Glad there are programs out there addressing this! 😁 This is so true NOT ONLY for seniors but also for people dealing with a disability..even younger age. You become isolated more and more isolated when friends want to do things you can't (because of the disability or not having the money because on assistance from dealing with a disability and can't work full time). This program is great helping people find a sense of purpose at any age! I deal with depression and anxiety and found playing hand drums helps release feelings and calm my mind. I wanted to share this with others and started a drum wellness program to work with seniors. 😁 Always remember regardless of where you are in life or what you're dealing with..you can have sense of purpose! You can help someone that is going through same thing you went through and they thought no one understands.
An excellent documentary and very helpful for me in my purpose to help the aging populations. Thank you
Jane
I started a business and I should be financially set for life. I sold my home to do it. After almost 5 years I'm in a better home and have a thriving business. I'm 63. In 2 plus years I'll also get my social security. I'll just save that. That's my plan.
I say Amen to everything she's saying she is so correct.
Yes me too... How are you doing?
Wow...spectacular...very moving; this video should give many seniors/boomers/retirees hope. Full of facts and GREAT ideas...thank you!!
This is exactly why I cannot wait until I reopen my house cleaning business again.
Work for the elder.
If I Am there I know they will be safe. I know my job is just house cleaning, but you do learn to really care for the clients.
It's not "just house cleaning". It's a valuable service. It's a worthwhile endeavor. It's bread & butter for those who perform the task.
Never negate an honest days work!
Welcome to Maria's Channel. That’s a wonderful thought!
That is awesome, who did I help today
The old lady is right - find something to be thankful for every day. Make lists and stick them around your house!
Elderly secret; loosing freinds, purposes, ;life is to he happy, thankful for you have, cared, not to let other do everything for you, everyday have to find something that makes you greatful
Canada once had a slogan. "we look after our seniors.' I guess no more.
This kinda pisses me off. I'm 67, worked since I was 10 and these people have it SO MUCH BETTER than myself and so MANY OTHERS! Because I was disabled, my income is a fixed FIX! VERY LOW and I'm two seconds from homeless.
I feel your pain my dear
I know it sounds harsh but have you looked into technical web skills you can do like social media media or web design. I make $200/hour after taking some courses online.
People are told all their lives to prepare for retirement. If they choose to ignore that, they deserve what they get.
Madonna...!
What do you think about this program...!
@Steven Goutzioulis...haha she will have anything but look how she got it.
Nice
As this video points out, it can be challenging for seniors to grow older. Many can feel like they don't have purpose or direction in life, especially if they've had a long career, or cared for children. I found the suggestions in this article about volunteering, taking up a new hobby and learning a new skill to be very helpful for seniors who are looking for ways to continue to be involved in their community: www.jfscare.org/finding-purpose-in-later-years/
As this video points out, depression can become more difficult to manage as people age, especially if it's something that has been battled against for most of life. This article details the signs and symptoms of depression in older adults helpful, as well suggestions to help overcome it: www.atlantahomecarepartners.com/aging-issues/senior-mental-illness-when-sadness-goes-beyond-the-blues/
Quality of life needs to go hand in hand with living longer. What's the use of living longer, if it amounts to existing in a living hell.
Every morning l Thank God 4 waking me up in my right mine and Thank God 4 letting me wash and dress myself. This is in the Old Testament. Therefor,Praise God each Morning 📿🤗.
