  • In today's video, I compare and contrast The Mortal Instruments or Shadowhunters tv show and the book series it's based on. This show was something I waited for every week an episode came out and I didn't read the books until after it was released. Some things stayed the same, while others changed drastically. From characters to entire storylines, I go over it all, and I hope you enjoy!

For what I heard the reason why they age up the character in Shadowhunters is to make the show more darker, sexier adult themes to capitalize The Vampire Diaries fandom which they pretty much did the same with their characters to relate to older audience. I believe that if the show haven't been canceled then Maureen will probably become a crazy vampire. But I'm glad that they had a chance to end the show without leaving a cliffhanger..... Dorothea aka Dot did attack Clary in the TV show but she was not possessed by a demon instead was experiment on by Valentine and she didn't have control over. By the way you forgot to mention and compare the character Victor Aldertree and Sebastian/Jonathan.
At least the dialogue in the shows was similar to the book after Simon bit Jace and said that he almost killed him.

i give u props that u watched the show at all. I can't get passed the first episode - there was too much that made NO sense and that was changed. I was rather reread the books (and I actually liked the movie - at least they stuck closer to the book then the TV show). But again ... props that u actually cud get thru the TV show.

I watched the show before reading the books, so I think that helped me get through it as I didn't know of all the changes they had made. Once I read the books, my praise for the show dwindled considerably. It's not terrible but it's not good either.
