      +Mark J We should all be very afraid, because if Photon wants to start splitting atoms, he won't be satisfied with that and will then try splitting the entire universe to see if it pops, or not!

      @TrashHeapCustodian Před 8 lety +2

      +Mark J Hell, you can do that with a 9V battery in a cup of water. We did it as a science experiment back in high school. Collected the gas in test tubes and lit it on fire, LOL.

      But he was very close to it. The little box could easilly catch fire due to some local overheat cased by continuous operation under heavy load. He didn't make it operate for any significant periods of time though so it looks like he kinda knew what he was doing.

      Technically because they are LI-POs you could recharge them but you would have to individually charge each one because of the way that LI-POs charge.

    if you were to find a safe way to charge them up, this is an EXCELLENT idea for an emergency power supply. I could see this being used to charge a phone or power a computer if the voltage is near exactly correct, plus you'd want a DC to AC converter. And even though this packs undoubtedly a huge amount of amps, it doesn't matter, because how many amps are delivered depends on the load.

    Nice too see ur back photon, been a viewer for a long time and you have already replied to me before, anyways I actually though you bought from eBay a 500w inverter board from China like I did it runs on 12v so a couple 18650 cells in series and some more in parallel would of been a nice little project I will try build my own box like urs I really enjoyed the idea I really didn't expect that to run on DC nor that it had so many lithium cells.
    thanks for keeping us all entertained and I'm hoping for more vids

    Bloody hell it's so simple when you explain it!
    *EVERYONE* thought you had AC in there, when it was DC all along.
    So no transformers.
    No inverters.
    Nothing complicated, just an AC lightbulb running on 250v DC (which works better I bet as there is no 50Hz AC flicker!)
    Bloody good job mate, you had us all fooled!!!

U should play around with them further and see what stuff you can pop with them, in the name of science, of course ! :)) I too was thinking "inverter" at first, though now that I think of it, you never did plug anything "transformer" in it, so DC was just fine.

    For anyone asking.
    I googled the numbers on the battery and found a listing on Alibaba. These cells are 280mah lipo cells (i assume with their size).
    So, 3.7v (lipo nominal battery voltage) x 0.280mah = 1.036 watt hours per battery x 81 batteries = 83.916 watt hours for them all together. Pretty cool :D
    Please come back, Andy. :(

    • @breezetix
      @breezetix Před 2 lety

      overvolting a ceiling fan isn't gonna speed it up faster. (i mean it will, only because ceiling fans usually spin slowly on 120 or 240V, due to the blades being heavier) even without blades it will still run at the same speed, since they need frequency to turn.

    • @LiquidSnakeSSJ4
      @LiquidSnakeSSJ4 Před 8 lety +8

      @gskaloyan Pretty sure it's not too difficult to make, just dangerous and messy, but not difficult if you own the right tools.
      You'd also need patience.
      I'm also quite confident that they (don't) have to be those specific e-cig batteries, but any Li-Po battery connected in series with a dozens of the same individual voltage to achieve 240v. You'd just need the batteries to all be the same and really small & stackable, and not end up killing yourself in the process.
      Wouldn't recommend mass-producing these things by hand. Would be better off using CNC/machinery to do it by batch.
      Or just buy a 12v 120/200ah battery and a 1500w inverter.
