This is so beautiful! It's so amazing to know religious ceremonies can have good music. I've been many churches were the music is so painfully played, I don't go back. No music is better than poor performance. Bravo to these cantors.
Wait, is Angela a rabbi whom likes to sing being musically gifted, or is she a cantor called by some reason by the honoric of rabbi, or is she "just" a layperson, politely called for a rabbi?
She started as a cantor and later became a rabbi at Central Synagogue in New York. Search for their channel and you'll easily learn all about her there.
To begin with... Buchdahl is not Jewish. She was born to a non-Jewish mother, and a Jewish father. That made her automatically not-Jewish. later in she was converted by the reform movement, and by true Halachic definition - she is not Jewish."Cantorial History"... conservative cantor singing with a non-Jewish woman at the "temple"... that might indeed be a historical moment. A moment better forgotten as soon as possible.Did Azi kiss her when they finished singing?... Wow. A cantor kissing a "rabbi" in the "synagogue"... What was next? I dare imagine...
you are a moron--it is all in the heart and being Jewish is in the heart---Cantor Buchdahl was raised at Temple Beth EL in Tacoma since the age or 5--she is amazing and a major contribution to Judaism moving foward---your narrowness is blind and bigoted.
Sun Rise you should keep your stupid opinions to yourself ! What kind of Jew are you to be so condescending . Their singing together wasn't part of a service . Even if it was, we're one small group of people united together in song prayer and love of Torah and Israel -
If she converted successfully in the presence of two more Jews, then she's Jewish. What nation or tribe that she came from beforehand doesn't matter. That is unless you are a Zionist? It might be shocking to you but the Ashkenazi Jews are not Jewish by Blood... They are however indeed Jewish.
This is one of the most beautiful renditions I've ever heard. Rabbi Buchdahl is a gift to her congregation. What a wonderful cantor.

Rabbi Buchdahl is absolutely Jewish and a brilliant Rabbi and Cantor.

Under Sunset's definition, neither Isaac nor Jacob is Jewish either, but why get caught up in details. :)
