This is definitely going to be a parody of musician bio pics. Everything about it screams sarcastically taking itself too seriously. And I’m here for it!
I mean it is about Werid Al after all. He's basically the motherfucking king of padory songs. A parody biopic is obviously the only eventual next step in the evolution.
@@xXMiKuXx21 and also, "Popstar" is more of a mockumentary, making fun of musician documentaries. The bio pic genre has it's own seperate tropes to make fun of.

That doesn't usually stop actors from using their newly acquired prowess and keep earning the big bux, But with Daniel he's played the game different. And yes he's earned est 100 million from the harry potter franchise alone, Plus the continued royalties! Which are no doubt healthy. Daniel once said in an interview: “I’m very grateful for this , because having money means you don’t have to worry about it, which is a very lovely freedom to have,” “It also gives me immense freedom, career-wise … For all the people who’ve followed my career, I want to give them something to be interested in, rather than them just watch me make loads of money on crap films for the rest of my life.”
Amen to that brother! I love that he is just finding passion projects, fun stuff to be in, just having the time of his life with the movies he wants whenever he feels like it Truly an example of a child star growing up right
Weird Al needs to have his own superbowl halftime show. Imagine him doing his parody songs and then the original artists join him and sing along. Imagine how wild and entertaining that would be!
Picking an absolutely yoked Daniel Radcliffe in what looks like a Halloween Weird Al costume being directed to act like what looks like a hybrid of johnny cash and James bond is such a fantastic idea. The gritty action hero weird Al story we all need in these trying times. And he looks like he's having the time of his life in these clips. Can't wait to see it.
It's like a bizarro-universe UHF sequel/analog/4th wall breaking redux.too bad it's roku (yet another pay-for-play video platform - and yes, i know it's older than most)...
Nitrogen fertilizer invented in the US saved literally billions of lives and prevented countless famines and deaths from starvation and turned destitute impoverished peoples into economically self sufficient communities all over the world. And that's definitely a close second to Weird Al
@@vivalapita8484 Have you...Have you heard his music? Sure he is spinning someone else's work be he is literally re-writing every line with original material.
@@vivalapita8484 about 50 percent of his material are original songs. He's mostly a 50/50 split between song parodies and style parodies, where he (and the band I suppose) write an entirely new song in the style of a particular artist
People find Daniel to be a surreal and strange pick Al made to play as himself but I think I totally get the gag; this is clearly meant to be also a parody of biopics like how they always get top tier celebs to play as these historical figures even if they range from accurate to exaggerations. Casting Daniel Radcliffe as Weird Al Yankovic is part of the gag and this is why Al is such a genius in comedy I’m excited for this 😊 but seriously to those in doubt: try to think of this in Al’s mind
Mate, you might be on to something. 🤔 I like how your mind works and I believe Al is just that kind of genius, to pull something like that. Imagine if he'd hired the Spiderman kid. 😅 To further the trope of *the artist* being impossibly beautiful and perfect. But also, Al talked about it and it seems like they might be very similar, Al and Daniel, humor vise. I dunno ofc. But Maybe Daniel has the Al vibe, more than the look. Tho he's not that far off imo. 😅 White and Nerdy. They all look like penguins to me.
It's basically an autobiography and the selection of Daniel Radcliffe as him is clearly meant to be a joke. He knew well that a British guy won't accurately potray Weird Al but that's the part of the joke. I'm sure it won't be a typical biopic that has to be taken seriously and remember that this was based on a gag produced years ago.
Love this, Daniel doesn't jump on just anything, he likes weird, but he always picks great projects, so that's saying something! Weird Al was always playing in my house as a child, I'm very much looking forward to this
@@dbrooke3629 could be, he fits the independent scene very well, I love actors that choose challenging/odd roles instead of just ones that make them look good. Swiss Army Man is one of my fav modern films
I love how absolutely every comment on this clip is positive! I’ve never heard anyone ever say they don’t like Weird Al. I grew up listening to ONLY Weird Al for the first few years that I discovered I liked music. Thanks so much Al for being Al, and also for being weird. We’ve never met, but I love you all the same, and looking forward to this film! It’s a good thing it’s free or else the entire world’s population would be throwing every cent they have at it to watch it again and again!
I couldn't relate to this more. Nothing but Weird Al the first few years when I started actually listening to music. Collecting his albums and whatnot. Then went to go see him at a free concert when I was 13. My first concert ever. He's on my bucket list to see again in my adult life.
I actually don't care for his music at all, I think musical parody is painfully unfunny and lame. Despite that I still think he's a fucking legend and I can't wait to see this film. He doesn't take anything he does seriously, UHF is hilarious, he's hilarious in Tim & Eric and hilarious on pretty much anything I've ever seen him in.
My fiancé doesn’t like Weird Al. I simply tell her that she is wrong and I am watching this, lol. (She is a good sport about it as long as I don’t force her to watch/listen with me).
@@undertakerfan46 I’ve got a buddy who’s the same way too, so it can’t be that uncommon but always cool to meet someone else who share the condition! I always loved a bit of humour in music which is what drew me to Zappa in the first place too. ❤️
I haven't seen it, but I can already tell that this is the finest movie to ever be made, and will quite probably be the catalyst to world peace and the end of male pattern baldness.
i cant wait for this completely true non parody super serious film about AL's turbulent rise to the top and his complete self destruction to the gutter, its going to be such a good film!
Why'd you have to go and make things so complicated? I see the way you're acting like you're somebody else. Gets me frustrated. Just admit that you love the videos I make, my dear jerri
Thank you for just streaming this. Think of the mass hysteria as every person on the planet all tries to cram into all the movie theaters. You're saving lives.
I can't wait for it. It's about time the legend himself had his biopic. Me and my 893 kids are so excited to watch this movie 6 times daily. There is a 0% chance of a movie like this to be anything less than amazing and we are blessed to have this movie available to us in this age.
Man, are WE living the SAME LIFE! Been a “Close Personal Friend of Al” ever since the early ‘80’s (and have a signed fan club letter, as that’s what his 80’s-era fan club was called, to attest to that!)
I've been an AL fan since the mid-late 80s. I never thought I'd live to see two masterpiece movies in my lifetime: The Weird AL Story and UHF. Long live The Yankovic.
I can already see this being one of the best, most complete, emotional and accurate biopics of all time, on par with Walk Hard (rest in peace Dewey Cox, we miss you). Can't wait to see it.
Radcliffe is turning out to be one of my favourite actors ever. He's not a Leo Dicaprio/Scorsese kinda actor with high-praised films by the critics, but I love he just does whatever comes his way, no matter how different the part or the genre might be. By far one of the most random and varied filmographies.
I know this is probably what you meant but to clarify he doesn't just "take whatever comes his way" more so he has the freedom to choose roles he finds interesting and help projects get off the ground that might not otherwise without his name attached.
Having Daniel Radcliffe as Weird Al is a stroke of genious! The only way to make it better would be to have Al playing himself, including any flashbacks to his youth (I'm imagining a fully adult Al Yankovic but in a too small t-shirt and pants that only goes to his knees, going "Wow, I can't wait for first day of school! I'm sure third grade's gonna be awesome!") Edit: Wow, so many grammar-obsessed people lately. Did I perhaps commit a few Word Crimes?
No scandals, no crazy politics, just a man and his accordion, living his best life... Go AL! Been a fan since Dr Dimento days in early 80s, we taped your songs off the radio on cassette and played them on the bus ride home for everyone to enjoy, then you hit it big and everyone knew your name a few years later, but we were there since almost the beginning... Stay weird my man...
The way it was told to me is the Potter stuff gave him more $ than he felt he evr needed. That allows him to take whatever role he wants regardless of career nd cash. God bless him. He is an actor having fun!

Growing up as a kid Al was like a hero to me. I got into him before CDs were a thing so the first music I ever bought was a tape cassette of his. But as a kid I also had no tape player, other than my Teddy Ruxpin bear. So for years I listened to Weird Al being sung by an animatronic bear. Somehow, that always felt right to me. I’be been beyond happy to see his fame grow bigger everyday. Love you Weird Al.
That's a terrifying thought, mine used to scare the shit out of me as a child. I played with it some, but I hid that creepy bastard in the linen closet before bed.
@@VikingPickles It never occurred to you that Ruxpin was acting as a scout for the monsters in your closet and that's exactly what he wanted you to do?
Saw him in concert a few years ago, Terrific Show!!! The outside arena was packed with people who were in costume representing different songs. Multiple standing ovations….Great memory
@@greenrobot5 That is a good question..... I want to say he can probably do a decent one.... a good one, hell no..... Doing a real American accent when your not American is alot harder than people think, and I think even harder probably for English people since they speak English, but with their own accents. And as everyone knows, habits are hard if not impossible to change. But I do feel that of the young actors out there right now, Daniel is probably one of the few that can do this role justice. And I do hope im right :P lol
While I agree Daniel will do a great job it kind threw me off in the trailer when he takes his shirt off. I can't imagine Al ever being that buff! Lol!
I have really been obsessed with the idea that this movie would be a parody of other biopics similar to Spinal Tap, I feel that an opportunity like this could really embody the spirit of Weird Al and be an incredibly clever movie on its own
True story. And even when hes doing a show at a fair he puts on A game. I saw him in a big venue and 3 times at fairs. There was a reason I went to those fairs! I've also seen Alice Cooper and Kiss, I think it's totally reasonable to mention the three in the same breathe, that's how good Al is.
This feels like it’ll be like a Funny or Die parody of a real movie, like their adaptation of Art of the Deal. Where the fact it exists is half the joke. But it also could be a really fun biopic. Al Yankovic has lived a colourful life.
same here. 3rd row june 30th. ironically i spent over 300 dollars on one of the worst places to be sound wise but i was there to meet weird al. the concert was an added bonus. he could of mimed the entire concert with no sound and i would of still been happy.
My dad was one of the original Al fans, back when he was still fairly unknown on Dr. Demento. I grew up hearing all the great Al songs on roadtrips, around the house, he's the only artist I've seen in concert more than once, having seen at least like, 5 of his shows, even if I was too young to really appreciate most of them. Now I've got a permanent love for Al and his especially hilarious brand of comedy, though I will say I've always enjoyed his original work more than his parodies. Truly cannot express how much I love your work, and how essential it has been in shaping my personality growing up. Thank you for that, and so much more, and I'm so excited to watch this movie. Finally I'll have another Weird Al movie to watch besides UHF (Which I still watch a lot to this day.)
I was in high school when UHF dropped- I.. freely admit I went to see Batman instead, and I didn't see it in full until years later. But then I snagged a VHS copy and showed it to my kids (my wife was already a huge fan and met him at the state fair).. they love it.
Man, I miss being a teen and staying up listening to Dr. Demento!!!! I didn't expect to hear that reference when I woke up this morning lol, I'd give you a hundred likes if I could. I assume your Dad and I are roughly the same age.
Normally I don't watch trailers for movies that I'm THIS excited about because of spoilers... but given the subject of the film, there's no spoiling this movie for me. I've been a huge fan of Al for literal decades. Some of his parodies are better than the original, in my eyes. Some of his originals are classic at this point. "The night Santa went crazy" is a Christmas staple in my home. Stay weird, Al... for the children.
I had a smile throughout but for some reason the super simple gag at 0:54 made me burst out laughing AHAHAHAHA Him straining so hard to close the door, I don't know, so simple yet funny 😂
I will have to watch it. Grew up watching Weird AL. Still jealous that my baby bro got to see him live on stage. Only sad thing is that Weird AL performed the same time his parents died and I can't imagine how hard it was for him to keep his concert commitments during that time. My baby bro said the show was amazing and that if he had known that his parents had been killed, he would of felt bad, but Weird AL never let the audience know. He is amazing and I hope some day I can see him live.
Weird Al is the greatest musical and comedy genius of this or any other generation. I really hope we get to see Daniel Radcliffe in the iconic "Fat" costume.

Weird Al needs to have his own superbowl halftime show. Imagine him doing his parody songs and then the original artists join him and sing along. Imagine how wild and entertaining that would be!
I'd love to see him do the half time show but make it one long mashup of all the Polka songs. A mashup or mashups!
They’d have to retire the halftime show as a concept if this ever happened, because nothing would ever surpass such a spectacle!
Agreed. But they usually only want Illuminati-type artists, so....
😁 that would be fun!
As a National Treasure, Al should do ALL the Superbowl Halftime Shows. Every. Single. One.
Picking an absolutely yoked Daniel Radcliffe in what looks like a Halloween Weird Al costume being directed to act like what looks like a hybrid of johnny cash and James bond is such a fantastic idea.
I like how your mind works and I believe Al is just that kind of genius, to pull something like that.
White and Nerdy.
GD, this has to be it. Because otherwise, yikes! XD

I actually don't care for his music at all, I think musical parody is painfully unfunny and lame. Despite that I still think he's a fucking legend and I can't wait to see this film. By far one of the most random and varied filmographies.
I was mindblown by the movie Jungle. Acting was topnotch.
I love how he actually did Swiss Army Man. Literally playing a dead guy with superpowers. "Do what seems fun" probably is his life motto indeed. :P
he made enough money off the Harry Potter movies to just do whatever the heck he wants for the rest of his life.
I think that since he's financially secure, he just does what he wants to do. Enviable.

When he asked to parody another Michael Jackson song and call it 'Snack All night' MJ refused saying the message of the Song was too important so Al had to look elsewhere. I think that would be important to include. It was the point where Al had to find another artist to parody.
Weird Al is a legend!
As "The Duke of Artz" I agree 💯% Weird Al Yankovic is truly a Legend.
So needed and still so epic. Loves al back in the day and a resurgence is necessary for all of us.
This might be the most honest and accurate biopic we'll ever see. EVER!
I remember the watching old joke trailer and thinking "it would actually be awesome to have a pseudo biopic movie of Weird Al".
I'm glad I wasn't the only one.
I would have been happy with the all-star cast from that trailer (Breaking Bad's Aaron Paul as Weird Al!), but this looks pretty damn good too!
@@stevenberliner7964 Aaron Paul was actually planned to make a cameo in this(its being made by the same people after all), but unfortunately he got COVID and couldn't shoot anything
Would never have expected Daniel Radcliffe but it TOTALY works! Bahahaha! Holy shit that's Dr. D!!! 🤣👍
Actually I'm fairly certain that it's Rainn Wilson as Dr. D, but let's not split hairs.
@@whiterosesalchemist Of course it's not actually him, he doesn't work for scale. That'd be like the queen wahing her own dishes. It's the thought that counts.
楽しみすぎる!応援しています!
OMG! I can hardly wait! I saw him during his Mandatory Fun tour, what a fantastic show!! He’s so talented 💕💕
Al probably will never see this comment but I wanted to say that your music got me through some of the darkest days of my deployment overseas. I envisioned being that corny dad to go visit the twine ball some day. I’m going to do it soon, literally just because of that one song. I really appreciate the positivity and love you spread. I can’t wait to see this movie. It’ll be great to reminisce on 25 years of awesome memories. Thanks for everything Al.
My tent mates were always a bit concerned that I only knew the Al version of so many pop songs.
What a beautiful story. Proud of you and the journey you've been on man. We're all brothers and sisters under our lord Weird Al.
I have never been so excited for a biopic in my life. I would’ve wanted to see it regardless, but having Daniel Radcliffe play you is genius!
You know you've made it when you get a biopic and Daniel Radcliff plays you.
You also know you've made it when you get to play Weird Al in his biopic.
the fact that british daniel radcliff is playing weird al is so perfectly on brand for a weird al 'biopic'
I've been a Weird Al Yankovic fan since I was 12!!!! I'm 21 now and I'm so fucking excited for this movie!!! Hopefully I can go to one of the concerts now too!!!!
Welcome to Aloholics Anonymous. Been a fan since I was 7 and I am... well. Lets just say I saw Eat it premier on MTV
It's wild that I've also been a Weird Al fan since I was around 12, however I'm 41 now 🤣
Wow, 9 whole years? :D
@@ben_burnes Ditto that haha.
Dude, I am going on 38 (kill me now), and I have been a fan of his since before I can remember. So essentially my entire life, since I can remember stuff from when I was at least 4 years old, so it was clearly before that. You got a lot of catching up to do. :-P
I figured it was only natural you'd get your own "true story" movie.
And Daniel Radcliffe?! Oh, this is going to be such a treat, for better or worse!
Weird Al was the one who wanted Daniel Radcliffe to portray him in the bio-pic
Daniel is a very good actor 🙂 so this is going to be good. Daniel dont do it for the money, he do acting becouse he loves it. And that i think is the key to why he is so great. 👍
@@PumpiPie Indeed, it would be interesting to see how well he did as Weird Al
Weird Al and Daniel Radcliffe. The perfect fusion
Saw Weird Al twice at Konacti in Northern California. Great concerts, super energetic!
Not gonna lie, I wasn’t feeling super good this morning. This teaser alone has lifted up all my spirits and my serotonin levels are through the roof! Can’t wait to see this!
Triple great Great GREAT 😉👍👍👍
There have been so many times when I’ve been having a shitty day and just listening to a weird Al song or two turns it around for me! Hope your day gets better.
@@FightingIncorrectStereotypes Actually my day has been alright, it's just for some reason I was feeling down until now. Thank you for asking and I hope your day is good as well.
Honestly, I can relate there. Today for some reason has been shit for me, but this really improved it. I love Weird Al and cannot wait for the movie
@@edgeworth097 I can't wait to see this movie too. As "The Duke of Artz" Weird Al Yankovic is one the triple great Great GREATEST parody song smith writers ever.
YES! YES! YES! YES!
Let's all take a minute to appreciate the fact that Weird Al promised us a motion picture every 33 years, and that we're lucky enough to witness this!
Too soon.

I remember a picture of Musical Mike Keiffer from Lawndale High School's yearbook, standing in developer pans in the dark room. He was underdeveloped then, but in a short time, he was playing hands on "I Love Rocky Road" and developed into a stuperstar, with Weird Al's help. Thx Al and Mike and Dr Demento for the great memories!
This is a magical moment, my friends. Time to polish my Segway.
Time to wrap my tacky hat in tin foil.
I'm taking my daughter to see Weird Al in concert this weekend. Can't wait to watch this biopic
You seeing him in Medford, Ma? I took my 12 year old son to see him this past Sunday night on Hampton Beach. He was fantastic so you're in for a treat!
@@mattryan2199 yup. I can't believe he's playing at the Chevalier. But they've gotten some big names since being taken over by the Wilbur.
I saw him in i think 2014 at the Orpheum too. He is great live
Your genius blows my mind, man.
Excited for this. However of course keep in mind that it's a movie, not a documentary.
So excited for this! I can’t wait for the scene where he’s a broke struggling starving musician and scrounges up enough change to buy a sandwich at a diner but as the server is bringing it to him they trip and fall and the sandwich flies in slow motion as Al screams “NOOOOOOOOOOO! My BOLOGNAAAAA!” The jukebox flips a 45 down and the needle lowers then My Sharona begins to play. A light flashes in Al’s eyes.
It skips “my my my my my my my” al whispers “my bologna” A star is born
@@Away0G I thought his initial inspiration came earlier from his childhood obesity when kids would call him, "pudgy," "portly," or "stout," and when his trips to the mailbox caused seismologists to investigate what kept measuring on the Richter scale.

I think it’s honestly a stroke of genius that Weird Al has such an iconic voice and Daniel 100% just sounds like himself 😂
I was that person who always made all my friends sit through my weird al albums. I have so many many favorites, rare is the song I didn't love. 🥰
Al has introduced me to some of my favorite music in the best way possible. thank you!
Please give it a cinema release. It needs to be seen by the whole world.
It's all about the pentiums baby.
One of my faves. It actually slaps and love it when it really gets angry sounding haha (for like a line or two)
What kind of chip do you got there a Dorito?
Adding to what Misuyy Fong said: You know you've finally made it when 1) Al does a parody on you, 2) when you play in a movie as Weird Al. I've always loved Weird Al (since the 80's) with his extremely funny and professionally done parodies. You're a An American Treasure and no one can do a micron of a fraction of the beautiful things you do. Stay Strong and Weird....Al
No other person on this planet deserves such a role
the greatest movie of the century
You've obviously never watched a movie then
The Dark Knight says what??
Word crime! Arrest that man!
I always knew Al was magical
MagicAL
Okay the highlight for me in this trailer is him fighting with a towel with that chef.
I grew up listening to Dr.Mento just waiting for Al to call in. He do a song live with his accordion. I was 10. Always in the top ten.
Once in a great while, life just reminds you that it is actually worth living.
I can't think of a more perfect fit to play Al than Daniel :)
Watching this 27 times on repeat!
AAAAHHH!!! I didn't know I needed this so bad, so excited!!
i was obsessed with this man when i was a child. obsessed.
Now, this is one movie which i genuinely can't wait to watch.
From being the best parody music maker, to being on ERB, to making cult classics that will last forever. Weird Al has does it all. We have always loved you Al, and always will.
I don't! I hate him!
He has aged so much better than Madonna and everyone else in Hollyweird it’s crazy.
It was so good, Al. Thank you. Just magnificent. Everything a movie should be, and more.
You went there, and I loved it.
Weird Al: 6'0", born and raised in California
Daniel Radcliffe: 5'5", born and raised in England
I love this choice. I think Weird Al carefully considered our suspension of disbelief before picking Daniel Radcliffe. He could have picked someone like Peter Dinklage or Idris Elba to play him. But instead he went with a British actor who's about half a foot shorter than himself.
Johnny Cash was 6'4 and Joaquin Phoenix is 5'8. So this being a parody of bio pics I think the height difference was also a parody of walk the line.
@@stuffandthings59 True. I'm hoping it ends with a parody of the Dewey Cox ending.
"Weird Al died three minutes after this performance... See him in concert next summer"
Idris Elba would have been fucking hilarious
But can Radcliffe play the accordion?
@@stuffandthings59 Wow, really? Had no idea Joaquín was short, he always struck me as tall. But that describes about 85% of the leading men in Hollywood i suppose.
This moves me. This moves something deep within me. It might be IBS, but I'm really hoping it's that this movie will be amazing.
I think it might be the IBS for me as well.
Perhaps you're Living with a Hernia?
