Hey Scotty what do you think about the 2010 Ram 2500 diesel truck?
Scotty I wish you do the full review on Acura MDX 2017 advance or above . Please
Who tried to shut you down?
Hi Scotty I have a 2012 Nissan Murano vehicle was driving perfectly until one day it stop. no crank no start but the speedometer works, I saw the key symbol on the speedometer when it’s on somebody says it’s a security issue, I check the vehicle has no steering actuator, battery is good starter is good fuel pump works all fuses good . Any thoughts what the issue is?
@scotty-What do you think about a 2010 Murano sport..it has a new engine with 105,000 miles and they want $3,000 for it
My very first car was a 2006 Nissan Murano S FWD, bought it for $6000 as well with 110K miles, and made it up to 193K miles still running perfectly fine, and decided to buy a newer car. I got a 2019 Jeep Renegade 4x4 Sport, I never enjoyed driving that car so after a week I traded it for a 2017 Nissan Murano S AWD, and now I'm so happy I did that.
Never did i think Scotty was going to compliment a Nissan 😂
wow never expected scotty to have anything good to say about a modern Nissan
Me neither... all problems aside, the Murano is a beautiful vehicle!

The government has been captured.
Paid 3k for an 07 murano fully loaded 170k on it and no cosmetic issues in or out.it's got 190k on it now.the cvt is still working great. haven't had to do anything to it yet except oil changes.it's all about maintenance.

I've seen multiple high mile Muranos. Great vehicles.
I bought an 09 Murano after owning a 2003 g35 that I absolutely loved and had 0 issues over the years. The Murano has a similar 3.5 engine with reduced power. The murano so far is doing great. Fingers cross CVT holds up. I didn't read about the 09 issues until after I bought it. However other 09s I was looking at where around 200,000 km and going strong. Bought mine with 118,000km.
Yeah I have an 09 Murano with 123,000 miles. No real issues and I drive it like a old lady. How is yours doing these days?
@@Squatch76 still fine, power steering pump died and was a nightmare to change. Another issue I ran into is it likes to flood when it gets below 0c. I assume it's a leaky injector seal. But if you put the gas pedal to the floor while starting, it turns off the injectors and clears the flooded cylinder while cranking. Then starts up like normal. I wish I would have known that trick when it first started doing that.
Status update, alternator died and had to change it in -25c. It was a terrible job, these things are awful to work on. Ps pump was easy compared to alt. CVT seems still ok but now have fuel injector problems and I think timing chain tensioners are going.
The rattle is at 1800 rpm under light load, but tends to go away in higher rpm. Tensioners are apparently an issue with these Muranos. Don't slack on oil changes! Not as optimistic as I once was... 😢
My family had a 2003 AWD Murano (first model year). The CVT went out twice under warranty, both before 90k miles. We ended up finally dumping it this year after the engine started knocking consistently 🤣
Evening Scotty! Thank you for your informing videos during these crazy times

@@ssjMaximum22Goku bingo lol they're not that bad.
I traded mine in at 254000 miles, and they still gave me like $3500 for it. The only problem I ever had with it was the transfer case which was replaced at around 80,000 miles, under warranty. Very dependable vehicle.
@@markcemo Exactly, they're decent vehicles.
For the money the 09-11 Murano are a great value. As long as the previous owner did regular oil changes then the cam and crankshaft position sensor wont cause you any issues. The CVT is hit or miss. Ive purchase 2 Murano a 09 and 11 and the 09 had the most amount of problems but nothing major
I learned how to drive in a 2005 Murano with a CVT, front wheel drive. We bought it used and had it for about a decade. Never had any issues with the CVT, but everything else broke down.

Love your vids, I just made a trade in deal on my 2010 Jeep Liberty Sport. I've had it for almost 5 years now, but no floor heat and other issues started showing up. But I'm getting a 2013 Murano SV, and when I worked at a Nissan Dealership 2 yrs ago I fell in love with them. I rather get into the Murano then keep this Liberty, only because I've been told once the 3.7 hits 140xxx miles they are know to have major engine issues. It has been good though up until a few months ago, great in the snow and off road. But no longer need a vehicle for that, I bought a quad for all my off road needs now. But appreciate your view on these!

Scotty, you might think about possibly partnering with someone and writing a quality book on the use of your ‘fancy’ diagnostic scan tool. Or writing one yourself. With your 50+ years of experience and your communication skills, you might be able to make a go of it. I’ve looked around and can’t seem to find one, so maybe the field is open. You could contact a publisher and test the waters. They might be able to suggest an experienced writer to assist. After it is written, you could tell everyone about it and really get a jump on everyone else.
The French used Renault designed CVT transmissions in some of their tanks with no problems, so CVT transmissions can be made strong.

Hey Scotty. I recently bought a 2009 Toyota Highlander V6 from an “auto broker” for $7k. I’ve put 5,000miles on the thing and it’s given me no problems so far, doing nothing but changing the oil. Are there any mechanically issues I should look out for and was it a good idea buying from a car broker?
I find your channel very informative. I personally have never owned a new car. Meaning anything past 95. I tried however the problem is with the prices of new vehicles being what they are and the fact that when you goto a new car dealership for this high cost they are only willing to give you options like leather seats and the like. If i going to pay the ammount of money they are asking for a new car. I want it the way i want the car not the way they feel like giving it to me. The last time i tried to buy a new car was 1993. I whent to the dealership prepaired to buy it right then. Having worked in a shop i told them how i wanted the car. They told me it was not possible to get a new mustang the way i wanted it. So to this day i have never owned a new car and probably never will. If a new car (2021 model) does not come with a carb and a manual choke, ill stick with putting it together myself. I have worked on these new plasti mobiles and for the price they are asking ill either get it the way i want it or not at all ! Looking at how these modern expensive throw away junk mobiles age, i dont think im missing much.
LOL. A Simca 1000 would be more reliable than the government.

Scott I am a new follower; I am a rookie when it comes to working on vehicles, but I want to start on a 2011 Ford Ranger we just got. Any suggestions on what is a good place to start, vs what should be left to the pros until I have more experience?
My mother in law purchased a 2021 murano. Around 6 months later the seatbelts started to have serious complications hooking. Not to mention it stuttered and completely shut off when starting to cross a rural bridge like it was in shock (I guess it had to get its bearings to cross it because I couldn't start it up for a good minute.) I'm thinking it wasn't programmed for that situation because Google maps didn't know the location very well(?). Also, it will brake unnecessarily sometimes, especially if someone in the lane next to you turns on their signal light to turn opposite of you. On top of that, when my dog lays his head down close to the shifter, it moves it from drive, usually into 2nd gear, while I'm driving (I drive it the most since my mother in law is up in age, yet she just had to have a new car. She had a great one, old, but low miles she sold cheap to someone in the family for their daughter, well, the daughter checked the oil about as good as my husband does so the low mileage engine didn't make it.) I could probably go on. I personally would've done something by now but, you'd have to know my husband and mother in law 😳😂
Good info to know, thank you.
Really liking the new shirt. Did you just get back from Jay Leno's garage
Thanks for these videos, An oasis, especially now.
First Scotty Kilmer video in my memory, to be equipped with closed captions. Thank you.
Scotty I really like this video, but 90% of those codes are likely set because the battery died at some point. Clear codes and see what comes back, also Fluid Pressure Low code in the TCM means the CVT is about to take a dump. If you go into Data Monitor for the TCM and monitor CVT-A and CVT-B it should always be 0, CVT-A/B is NOT 0 then there has been either overheated fluid or internal damage to the CVT.
Drove a 2020 awd a few days ago. Got about 30 miles a gallon. Definitely an improvement!!!
I got an 09 Venza for $6 grand 6 months ago. I changed all fluids . runs great at 180 thousand miles. Runs like a ⏰ clock. Great investment

I love Nissan. Only vehicle I own. I never had any problems with the ones I own. I currently own 5. 3 from the 1980's & 2 that are 2020 (Versa and Altima).
I wouldn't even take a gamble buying that. I told my friend to go back to Nissan and tell them he knows about all the problems they have with their CVT transmissions cause they were trying to charge him a fortune to replace his. They agreed to do it for 3000 dollars so he got it replaced. He got it back from the dealership and then it sounds like it has a exhaust manifold leak.
We need to hear the truth! Thank you!

06 Murano with 165K, trans was replaced at 116-118K under the wire by Nissan.
I've heard a few knowledgeable folks advising to do trans fluid/screen changes at 35K if you want to give them a better than average chance of going a decent interval before failing. Cheap insurance for a 4-5k repair.

Dealing with our 2005 Murano AWD SL model, the A/C doesn't work, rust on the rear wheel wells, oil leaks with these VQ35DE engines, and I had to drill several holes in the back to get some nuts to hold the striker in place for the rear door. Oh, and the exhaust pipe assembly is completely separated from the rest of the pipe in the back so it needs a whole new exhaust system with new catalytic converters. Hey Scotty, I’m hoping you can answer my question. What do you think of the 2019 Nissan Armada? Just bought one and wanted your opinion.
Love the AWD on my Rouge because the wheels almost never spin when pulling into traffic, and even if they do, the car tracks straight.
How fast are you pulling out in traffic? If your spinning tires your beating up your vehicle. Not going to last as long as possible..when i pull out with my v8 pickup i almost never have to accelerate quickly. Thats why it is 20 years old and still lasting..beating up on a vehicle and jack rabbit starts will definately not last that long.
@@ronaldarchibald2506 If you live in medium size city, from time to time you will have to accelerate to get into traffic.
Hey Scotty, what do u think of a 05-09 mustang gt. Do u think they can survive even with some having a higher mileage?
Hey Scottie. I have a 2005 Chrysler Town and Country, with the 3.3 6 cylinder engine, 223300 miles, regular oil changes and spark plug and wires changed out at 100,000 and 200,000 miles. I bought a 2009 Murano new in 2009. My wife and I both love the vehicle. Our CVT had to be replaced after 11 years and 140,000 miles. I didn't think that was too bad. I have had other new vehicles in the past and on some of them the transmission didn't last 100K miles.

My front wheel bearings are bad on Murano platinum 2013 ,do you recommend just changing out both front instead of the bad right side because man if the right is trouble soon will be the left side. What your recommendation part brand to get for this?
Everything on my 2011 Nissan Murano mechanically still works. Accept for the trans I had to replace
I got an 08 murano it never failed keep up on your maintenance and fluid replacements and it’s just like any other “good” car just fine had it for 12 years 189k miles
I have an 07 Murano with ~175k miles and it has been an "OK" car... not great.. just OK. I had to put a new power steering hose on recently (common problem with certain years), change the oil cooler gasket (another common problem but easy fix), change a couple of those fluid filled motor mounts (a royal pain), replace a couple of ignition coils, and repeatedly snake out my sunroof drains to prevent it from leaking inside the car (PITA to access exit side of drain). The plugs are also a bear since you have to take off the intake manifold to access the back 3 in the transverse V6 but only have to change every 100k-ish. I have also had a couple of drain and fills on the CVT since I got it used ~2012. It survived a regular 75-90 minute commute (one way) for several years in the bay area without stranding me. Fortunately, I have been able to complete the repair/maintenance work myself. If it makes it to 200k with the CVT intact I will be satisfied. I have always been paranoid about the crappy CVT so I am gentle on the accelerator. It is a FWD and I did notice it was made in Japan so maybe that helps? I am not sure where the newer ones are made/assembled. Like Scotty said, just don't pay too much.
That’s not ok. Way too much crap to deal with
I’m confused. We have a 2014 Altima with 144k miles and still drives with no problems. Depends on how you drive and maintenance.
Waiting for Scotty to make a ⛄ snowman.
