    Is it possible to enter in summarised data and have the calulator work things out (eg. tell me the SD if it input SigmaX, SigmaY, SigmaX^2, SigmaY^2, SigmaXY, and n) or do you have to enter the data individually? For example, this would be useful for being able to check answers to exam questions if they don't give you the full data..
    Thanks!

    Perhaps I haven't made it far enough in my stats class yet, but what is the different between "variance and standard deviation" and "variance and standard deviation of our sample"? (σ^2x vs S^2x & σx vs Sx) Thanks.

    • @TheCalculatorGuide
      @TheCalculatorGuide  Před 4 lety +2

      The population variance and sd (represented by σ) uses n, the number of values in the calculation, whilst the sample variance and sd (represented by s) uses n-1 in the calculation.
      It is because the sample variance has one less degree of freedom to give an unbiased estimate.
      There's a video from Khan academy for more on this www.khanacademy.org/math/ap-statistics/summarizing-quantitative-data-ap/more-standard-deviation/v/review-and-intuition-why-we-divide-by-n-1-for-the-unbiased-sample-variance

    • @TheCalculatorGuide
      @TheCalculatorGuide  Před 3 lety +1

      On the summary stats page there should be σ²x which is the population variance and s²x which is the sample variance.
      If you want to use them in calculations select OPTN and Statistics Calc once you have inputted your data , Then OPTN, down , 2:Variable and they are available in there to use.

    • @TheCalculatorGuide

    can the calculator display the square of each value in the screen ??
    for example if we have set of value: 1, 2, 3, 4 can the calculator display 1, 4, 9, 16 like that the square of each value at once ?????

    • @TheCalculatorGuide
      @TheCalculatorGuide  Před 4 lety +1

      The easiest way would be to use Table. It put your f(x) as x^2, no g(x) Start as your first value and step as your last and increasing by a step of 1. Press equals and it should give you a set of square numbers. You could also use spreadsheet instead.

    How can I do statistics with 2 variables?

    • @TheCalculatorGuide
      @TheCalculatorGuide  Před 6 lety

      They would have to have a relationship such that you could calculate a regression. You could select one of the later choices in the STATS menu to do this. You can only do one independent variable at one time, so you would have to do them separately if they did not have a relationship.

Lets say I want to find the standard error by dividing s by sqrt of n. you will have to copy the values manually somewhere and then type it in the calculator. VERY ANNOYING and TIME CONSUMING. a possible source of error too!!
