Eyyy the Ridley part isn't WTF. When he gets hit while charging fireballs he doesn't take knockback. It's a Metroid reference to hitting him makes him take extra damage whilst he's charging. This makes perfect sense

1:30 when using neutral B ridley has a hurtbox in his mouth so if he gets hit there he will take extra damage but no knockback
I think everyone knows it does extra damage, but not the part that it does no knockback. Like the game even says it does more damage if you hit him there, but never clarifies it does no knockback
@@kyotanaka920 I knew that since unlocking Ridley and specifically testing it. Should be common knowledge for Ridley mains. It's just not practical to intentionally use it to stay alive.

Galiaverse Unless they're spamming B in situations where they shouldn't be doing it, even Ridley mains will have no idea about this nonsense. This only occurs during the charge and while he's firing it. It's already rare enough being hit in the mouth whilst using it, being hit by a move that actually does any knockback is even more rare as Ridleys shouldn't be using that move in a situation where that's possible because its laggy. Unless you just did a brain dead move, or wanted to experiment how this move behaves, you will never find out it just ignores knockbacks in normal play. And it doesn't help that Ridley doesn't get much action either. Ridley here using that move there could be due to a lack of matchup experience, nobody ever expects the long boi attack until it's too late.
And of course they're going to act like they never saw it before, it's probably because they never saw it before. Because a "play" like that happening is rare in the first place so they had no idea what the fuck happened. The first time they didn't react to it could be summed up as them thinking Ridley fell out of an attack, it wouldn't be the first after all and Plant's UpSmash is a two hit move so it's natural to assume that it was Ridley falling out of an attack, not his mouth getting all explody denying the kill.. Next time it happened, the climatic played so they expected him to fly.
Please, stop acting like this is common knowledge. It's not. Well, maybe it will be common knowledge NOW since it happened in a streamed event, but certainly not before this.

Have you ever had your gyro disappear for a whole match? I have only had this happen on tortimer island but if you send out gyro and it get knocked into the water at just the right time and spot it will stay spinning in the water through the entire match. Not just 1 stock.

For anyone that doesn't know: if you hit Ridley's mouth while he charges neutral B, he'll take a decent bit of damage and go through an animation instead of taking knockback. The piranha plant got unlucky and hit his mouth twice.
Is it like a bug or an intentional Metroid reference?

I first saw it over on one of BSD's Smash Reviews, and apparently it will almost always counter the strong hit of Skewer, and do a ridiculous amount of knockback due to the percent. Even though Little Mac's counter is probably the most consistent, Roy's deals even more damage and a TON of knockback. It's interesting, that a move that normally does no knockback can immediately KO the user from being countered.

If you hit him while he's charging Neutral-B, Ridley's mouth will explode and he'll take big damage but ZERO knockback.
This happens no matter how strong the move he was attacked with is.

1:24 I can confirm as a ridley main, this is normal. If you get hit while charging fireballs, you take no knockback, but instead take HELLA damage and endlag. Has happened to me many a-time

SM1 The black warrior That and sometimes knockback is so strong that an explosion can stay active while in hitstun and moving, so maybe the explosive clipped snakes hurtbox before DIDDY reached the blast zone and that's why, but it's impossible to tell, could've been jet pack too, easily would kill based on snake position, I just think DIDDY would die faster than the jet pack

Ok so anybody remember that one glitch where if you hit Diddy Kong in a certain way with his up b he travels through time and space? Literally what happened at 4:10 was that his Rocketbarrel Backpack did it instead
This isnt what happened. C4 has a glitch where if the camera does the zoom in the hitbox extends, which hit snake

If anyone wants some explanation for 1:30 and 1:38 , if you bit a Ridley in their mouth while they charge a neutral special, it does a small explosion that damages Ridley and does a small animation that leaves him vulnerable (a reference to Metroid games where Ridley'saeak spot would be his open mouth) . The flip side to this is that knockback doesnt affect it quite right, which is why a move that wouldve killed, such as the two the piranha plant used, would do the screen thing, but with no knockback

1:38 ridley main here to tell you that when charging neutral b you can't be launched it you are hit in the mouth (which will happen if you get hit by basically any attack to your front, since he opens his mouth so wide you're not gonna get hit in the foot or something but if you hit him from behind he's still screwed) because his mouth is it's own hurtbox that doesn't get moved or else he would like fly off the stage while shooting fire.

Props to BeefySmashDoods for analyzing the Ridley x Little Mac Skewer+Counter exchange a short time ago. Little Mac countering Ridley's sweetspot Skewer results in exactly 60% damage and a HUGE amount of knockback even at 0%.

No, it was Ridley charging his Neutral B, but getting hit in the mouth while charging, taking the damage from his neutral B instead of from Pirahna Plant

So many unexpected things in this game
I'm an Isabelle main and what happened at 6:00 is only on certain maps, it's a really weird glitch. Another one that is more common is when the tether works, but the fishing line keeps going and loops around the area.
The one shown in the video happens when you tether grab the ledge but someone stands right on it after and it moves you behind them.
6:00 I just got Isabelle into Elite Smash, that happened to me a lot when tethering with fishing rod. It’s more the character than the stage. Same thing can happen with ZSS
this video in a nutshell: broken hitboxes
Explanation for Skewer:. So Skewer works as a two hit move when sweetspotted. The first hit set to have a crap load of knockback to trigger the dramatic slowdown effect in strong attacks, it also has large hitstun(or a ZSS/Pac Bell stun effect) so the knockback wont matter for Ridley. So if you counter Ridley's Skewar when it sweetspots it will deal the knockback that the first hit of Skewar is set to have.
This works on all counters except Peach/Daisy as their counter has a preset damage and knockback, and Incineroar as revenge seems to have a max knockback per revenge charge.

So the ridley/plant clip is actually intentional. If you hit ridley while hes charging flame breath he will take set knockback and scaled damage
Btw, counters are based off of precent, not knockback, which caused the Little Mac’s counter to kill Ridley because the counter was activated by the sweetspot of skewer.
Ridley has an animation when you hit him in the mouth during his neutral b that doesnt allow him to receive any knockback and only makes him flinch
Remember, this is a 60 dollar competitive game.

The reason Pk thunder 2 (Pk rocket) hits from behind is because ness takes a completely horizontal position from his vertical position, so his legs/feet are reaching further back in space then his model is when standing.
Samus full Charge shot hit box starts from her body and covers all of it so yes you can hit people behind you but they nedd to be really close. I always takr my friends by surprise with that xD

The explaination for most of these is, whenever you hit you extend your hitbox along with it, so if something that's more powerful than your hit hits your sword or something it counts as you being hit.

@@torinfaes6278 The most ovbious example is down b from piranha plant, when it extends if you hit the mouth with a move with super armor such as ganondorfs warlock punch you will damage it cause it's an extended hitbox. Now what I don't exactly know is if the sword counts as hitbox or only the swords hand... Well in this video that's what happened when Sonic used it's forward smash.
