    I dont feel I had high standard training where I did my cbt last Thursday. I dropped the bike on top of me and the instructor was quite robotic about it. I feel let down tbh and I went home early. I even felt that I was holding up the other guy as he was riding fine around the training ground. Whole experience has knocked my confidence. I have booked again with the same trainers as they offer a revisit for £75 and its tomorrow (9th Jan 23) worried already and the bike was too big for me. They said they had no other bikes avaliable.

      @@hoodedr6 Hi there, again didn't get through the instructors just didn't give me time and patience. I feel I didn't get the adequate training and have already told them I'm making a complaint. The owner even spoke to me in a derogatory way and tried to twist everything it made me feel uncomfortable.

      @@lorisimms I had a similar experience where I was a complete beginner on a manual bike and was grouped with more experienced riders who were all retaking their CBTs for delivery jobs. I wasn't given much time at all to get comfortable with the clutch and suddenly was thrown into doing slow speed manouvres in a tight width car park area. I was let go at lunch time as my foot touched the floor a lot when turning tightly (no instruction was given on how to improve posture to avoid this!).
      Anyway, I'd recommend going to a different school - ask about doing a taster session (most schools provide this free of charge). This will give you an idea if the instructors are patient and up to task. Some seem to just like putting in minimal effort and churn the CBT retakes for money unfortunately. It's been 10 months since your last comment so hopefully you stuck with it and went elsewhere.

    A lot of what is taught on CBT I was teaching in the 1960's with the RAC/ACU which unfortunately dissolved in the 1970's due to unfortunate changes made by the government at the time, Pity. Our courses were run by volunteers, extremely good volunteers and ran for at least 13 by 2 hourly sessions usually at weekends and in summer time some evenings so one got at least 26/30 hours of training both on road and off road. classroom work, theory, basic mechanics, first aid etc.
    My question is what is there , now, in place after CBT Absolutely nothing required by law. Two hours out on a bike and away you go.... to your first accident.
    Motorcycling can be dangerous. As dangerous as the other road users make it and more so as dangerous as the riders ability, experience and more importantly of his state of mind. To throw a newbie onto a bike is asking for trouble. After all a car driver usually has to undergo something like 40 to 60 hours of intense one to one training in order to pass the DSA test so why shouldn't bikers be required to do the same thing.

    • @ToThePointCT
      @ToThePointCT Před 5 lety

      I do agree with you it can actually seem crazy that after just 2 hours on the road they throw you onto the street on your own. when I completed my CBT I thought seriously I can go on the road? it seems bizarre but also a lot of it is to do with rider attitude. I have course have not gone straight onto the roads going 60 miles an hour. I'm still practicing up and down my street doing the u-turns clutch control and really taken on board the basics that I was taught on CBT

    • @eclecticveil
      @eclecticveil Před 5 lety

      @@ToThePointCT I agree with you too. When I completed my CBT, I completed it with a very talented instructor, who was more strict than other places, he taught us extra layers of safety and things to consider which has definitely shown in my riding now. But even with that training, it was still a relatively small amount of time compared to the amount of hours 8-10 car lessons would give you before a test. So practising in quiet places with how to pull off properly with gears, shifting, turning, slow speed control, rev-matching, all that sort of thing is very important.
      Hope you have learned how to ride competently and are enjoying yourself out there.

  • @judgedredd49

    Leg Down?????? and he wasn't pulled on it. I see so many youngsters and newbies going around roundabouts and corners with an inside foot down. NO NO NO. Its an easy way to hit the the tarmac with the foot and end up falling off with at least a sprained ankle or at worst a serious fracture. You never ever put your foot down. Best balance is obtained by sitting with both legs on the pegs. We are not yet learning off road techniques or racing techniques.
