This scene is obviously the pinnacle of the film. Great film. I’m an American who lived in London for five years- and many times in a London cab I experienced drivers who were always some of the wisest men I ever met.
The most underestimated movies of this year. Jude Law is brilliant. Everything in this movie is just brilliant. It's almost like watching some Hitchcock/Kubrick hybrid.
What I find so sad about this scene is that the taxi driver has more intelligence and sense than Jude Law's character whose family ends up suffering because of his selfishness and stupidity.
Writing it off to selfishness and stupidity is way too reductive, given how brilliant the script is. It's obsession with status, class anxiety, amongst many other reasons.
Jude Law was always a good actor. He deserved to survive the leading man’s nightmare-hair loss-and be brilliant, which he and Carrie Coon are here. The story is basic, the stars make the movie.
And so went the greatest and most noble cab driver in the history of mankind.
the taxi driver is james nelson joyce , who in real life has a proper mersey side accent , so hes doing well to put on an accent like this

Couldn't agree more. Can't believe how overlooked it got.

His wife at the social dinner - I shovel shit for a living (priceless)
She told it like it is. Didn't care what anyone thought
The absolute pinnacle of this film. Jude Law just ignoring wise advice from a working man. Great film here.
Are they shooting on location or in a studio?
