Don’t forget to look at all the reviews people leave as well about the apartment you are interested in. Our last apartment in the DMV area was amazing on the website but after living there we wish we would of read the comments current residents left on the apartment website and Yelp because the crime was horrible especially between neighbors... I hope you find your dream place 🙏🏾 good luck boo!
Oh yes good point! I’ve had that almost happen to me as well in dc, there was a really nice apartment at a weirdly low price, and after looking at the reviews I saw they had roaches 😷 will definitely need to remember to look at all reviews before applying- thank you ❤️

Oh wow, I used to live in apartment #5’s complex! You hit the nail on the head. My old apartment hardly ever got any sunlight cause all the nearby high rises blocked it 😫. Great location tho, and super close to a metro…but during the pandemic, I felt like I lived in a dark cave most days lol.

DC is crazy expensive and I really want to move out of the place where I am now. The issue is the prices for even a studio is horrible. My price range is below your (at the time) max and that is horrible. It's sad that it cost so much just to keep a roof over your head and live in a safe area at the same time. DC has to do better.
Love the intro!! Ok I loved apt 1. I want you to have a bedroom though. Like your that type of women that you need that separation. But the freedom of your own you tend to make some Sacrifices and figuring out how you can make that separation. I know your probably already looking on Pinterest for idea for a studio. I so excited for you and I will be praying for the lord to guid you to the right one. Also sorry I haven’t written back on Instagram. I will though!! Your doing great with all of your resources. What area or complexes would you suggest?
Yup a decent studio will be at least $1500. I just finished touring and secured an apartment in Edgewood DC area. I am relocating for a new job so Im literally moving in next week from NJ. My apartment building is super secure which was very important to me because I am not from around there. Key fob is needed in order to go anywhere in the building. So there aren’t randoms roaming. And there’s in unit washer/dryer. Also, I’m thinking about leaving my car in NJ because the metro is right outside of my apartment building and takes me straight to work. You and I have similar sentiments regarding being single women and wanting security so this video was so relatable!!🤍🤍
YES as a single woman we have to do what we can to feel safe bc unfortunately, that's just the way it is! I'm so glad you were able to find a community where you feel safe. Yes a FOB is necessary for me too! And in unit washer/dryer ONLY, i simply cannot with the shared ones. It's worth the extra rent at that point.

I looked at neighborhoods close to Capitol Hill near where I work. I looked in neighborhoods that have easy access to metro stations and were not too POPPIN. It all honestly depends on what you’re looki g for, your commute etc. Use the tips I give in the video and you will find places/neighborhoods that work for you :)

Lots of restaurants and bars (outdoors too) hoping for the best in your moving journey!
Lmao girl I ALMOST applied for that one, but honestly I didn’t wanna be in such a short building lmao. It was surrounded by tall buildings so I would likely not get much sunlight and that’s a no for me 😅

I ived in the DC area for many years. I highly recommend Annandale VA.

@@SelenaTrevino The commute by car was not bad even with traffic. Its easy access to Metro and Reagan airport is very close.
@@rockpaperreads oh nice! Yeah I don’t have a car or else it would def be a good choice! :) I take the metro to work and since I work in DC there’s no where to park for me if I did have a car, the struggle is real.

If you follow the advice I have towards the end, you will def find something. Honestly I don’t share the buildings bc since this video was made these places prices have skyrocketed. You’re much better off doing your own research.m in your preferred neighborhoods. Prices are Wildin even more rn!

Omg I wish, girl!! it was so beautiful!! But the actual 1-bedroom was on a special for like $1799 LOL. So yeah, not in my price range. (And it’s not even IN dc, just next to it) Since the tour it’s actually gone back up to $1900. 🥲 it is rough!! I’ve actually decided to extend my budget a bit if I want a 1 bedroom, so there’s that. *cries in broke* lol

Agreed!! Having lots of sunlight is such a big component for me- would’ve loved to see more floor to ceiling windows (in my price range) :’)
Yes, Maryland’s apartments prices have skyrocketed since all this stuff happened! I’m looking for one bedroom apartment in a better neighborhood. A chance to walk outside without fear! Some nice shops in walking distance that’s good exercise for me to burn energy and stress. Big windows with more natural lighting. Washer and dryer in unit. My budget is low right now I can’t afford 1500 rent. Thats sad you can’t find everything you want for that price
It's very sad :( if you live or work in DC you should apply for the IZ affordable housing program: dhcd.dc.gov/service/inclusionary-zoning-iz-affordable-housing-program I have a friend who got a n ice studio in dupont for $1500 through that program!

Just discovered your channel, you seem such a nice person! Are the apartments usually unfurnished? On the websites they mostly seem furnished or will you have to pay extra for that? Would you mind sharing which apartment complexes were in this video?
Most places come unfurnished! There is student housing for most universities though, and Facebook groups you can join to find furnished housing. See my pinned comment!

Don't forget to mention parking! I used to Live
in a studio that went for 1800 a month in SW DC and the parking added an extra $200 a month!! Luckily utilities were included.

Look up apartments in NoMA and H street!
Also note that D.C’s poverty line is at $85,000 for a single person with 0 kids. The living wage was $20/hr when the minimum wage was $12/hr. Unless you are making $85,000/yr...consider MD, or VA. Great alternative options 💜

Heres a little secret--there are luxury apartments that have some apartment that they reserve for low income applicants (and low income are like regular income for the area lol) i know laurel and montgomery county have them, NoVa has them as well (think $1400 for 1BR)

No it was super easy! I just let them know ahead of time that I preferred self guided and they all pretty much accommodate it!

Hello, I am not sharing the names for several reasons. 1. They’re not available anymore and the places have jacked up their prices since the vaccines were released. And 2 I promise if you use the tips I shared you’ll find a place. But just know prices have drastically increased since I was looking. 🥲

really depends on your occupation/what industry you work in! but truly so many people are quitting their jobs rn that the job market will be very good almost anywhere. According to the news and some articles I've read, but who knows really.

I’m working in DC for total of 7 months. Been here for about 3. I am renting a furnished basement for 1500 all utilities paid. I absolutely hate it. I like the place I’m renting but I hate everyhing else about DC. I hate the traffic , lack of parking , ridiculous parking garage rates , all of the speed cameras and speed bumps , the rats here are about as bad as NY, no drive thrus ( well hard to find ) not many drive thru Starbucks and burger kings etc and the mass amount of annoying people on those scooters and people crossing on green lights is beyond annoying. I can’t wait to leave this miserable city

My current apartment has since increased starting rental rates for a studio to $2600. Please do your own research because things have changed since the vaccines were first released and things have gone back to “normal” rental rates have increased dramatically

Ahh sorry not naming places for security reasons but trust me likely these apartments are no longer available these ones themselves were taken up within days! It’s important to follow the tips I have in the first video because then you can find what is available in your budget in a good location ☺️❤️

D.C is cool and historic but not much freedom there from the goverment, and to much tax but Still a nice place, cool place to live

Def use the tips I shared on how I found apartments in my price range and you'll be able to find something in your range.
