Vložit
- čas přidán 14. 08. 2024
- Japan is known for sushi, ninja, Mt. Fuji, and the bullet train but let's not forget ーJapan is an island! In fact, Tokyo has some of the best scuba diving in Japan in an area known as Ogasawara, the Galapagos of the East. It's a 24 hour ferry ride from the city into the Pacific, 1000 km (600 miles) away. Since it's only accessible by boat (no flights) it's become a paradise for scuba divers with marine life and amazing visibility that will make you rethink leaving your scuba gear at home!
★ Where is Ogasawara? It's in Tokyo! (sort of)
goo.gl/maps/ab...
Chichijima is the main island with port and most diving is down from town.
★ How to get to Ogasawara
By Ferry (tickets)

In this episode I dived with FISH EYE

They have a hotel with meals and several dive packages.

John : "Oh noo ! Shark !"
Shark :" Itadakimasu ."
Underrated comment
John deserves more views. He puts so much passion in his videos/ adventures.
I agree. That’s why I like his videos
I have been waiting for this to drop for what feel like a year. That's an eternity in internet time! I was NOT disappointed! This scuba adventure is new ground (water?) for Only in Japan! Looking forward to more summer adventures!
I feel the same way
oh it's nosh
senpai
YEAH John! So happy to watch your scuba diving experience in Ogasawara. Love it!
Gorgeous. Your constant smile is infectious.
I'm a snorkeler and got to do the Great Barrier Reef once. And I've also been to Hawaii. The Pacific Ocean has many wonderful dive sites. You need to share more of Japan's sites with us.
Japan is so beautiful, and this channel is like guiding me when I'm going to Japan
The shark felt so real,it gave the perception i was watching it thru human eyes instead of a camera.
Amazing!
Wow! Those were some awesome shots--under the water, and aerial views above. Great one, John!
This has got to be one of your best videos! The shots of the ocean teeming with life are NatGeo/Animal Planet worthy! Even if you weren't a scuba diver or snorkeler, this video will entice you to visit Ogasawara.
OMG! I think it my new favourite episode.I love underwater footage and you have made a excellent work. Ogasawara is a beautiful place!!
What a beautiful piece of paradise Ogasawara is...Thank you for sharing this amazing video.
Ahhh the colour of the water! That rock arch is so cool! And eep sharks!? Japan is epic, man!
Love your videos John, thank you so much for running this channel and producing such amazing content. I can't wait to revisit Japan and hopefully do an "Onsen tour" in Fukushima, similar to how you did it in one of your old videos!
Beautiful video John! I was a bit concerned with the sharks in the sea but you survived :p And i'm happy you got to document such a scenic place that not many know about. Matane!
Been waiting for this one for a while and it was totally worth the wait! Tremendous footage of the marine wildlife! A place that is definitely worth the time and effort to get to! Thanks for taking us there John! 👍
Thumbs up for the MagnaDoodle briefing alone! That made me LOL.
Thanks for sharing, John. This is an area of Japan I'll never personally get to so it's nice to see.
It's amazing the quality of video that's available to individuals (outside of a movie studio) now. Great job!
That’s such crystal clear water it looks so beautiful!
John you are the best guy for japan adventures,in fact i can say you are the boldest person i know
I”m here from instagram...love the video! I’m from Pennsylvania, but I’m currently visiting Japan!
Your footage & commentary truly rival a huge budget BBC program. I hope Sir David knows You're coming for his Gig LOL I Love the ease & unpretentious attitude you so naturally guide us with. This truly rivals The Famous Maya Beach In Thailand Which will hopefully be reopened to visitors in 2021. This is going to be put in my Travel Bucketlist! Much Love From Southwestern New York!
Great video. First time diving? So brave
THE BEST episodes ever. this deserves more views! great job john
I love all episodes of Only in Japan, but this is my most favorite episode ever. I could watch it over and over again for the next couple weeks.
Thank you Stella! ✨
Either this or the Sake factory is my favorite video on the channel!
Damn! You're brave. Ogasawara is amazing, but also a shark paradise!
I discovered this channel just yesterday and I've already watched a ton of videos. I think the best part is how John genuinely loves japan and showing it to us.
Absolutely amazing! Thank you for taking us along with you on such a wonderful adventure.
I respect you from the bottom of my heart.
From Japan.
The effort you've put into making this is worth a lot of thumbs up. Thank you :)
Now I really feels that you are perfect at everything...your Japanese is flawless and now you can dive like a professional. You never fail to impress me. I love every download video of yours..its a great mix of fun and knowledgeable. Love it
I rewatch all of the only in japan videos all the time. Love this channel.
202 backwards and forwards the same.
I like kidz
Well done John! This was a great video to watch on a slow work day at the office! Keep them coming!
Great show! Might be my favorite one so far!
OMG!! It's just amazing....Japan is just becoming more and more beautiful beyond my expectation...ty for your hardship for expressing Japan 😉
I'm so glad I finally subscribed to this channel. It's so informative and chill.
This is so cool John
Holy smokes this video gave me goosebumps just of the views and that clear blue water! Seeing what is under our deep blue sea is was so cool to see!
At last! Superb episode! Totally worth waiting.
BTW, perfect sound effects on 2:30.
Awesome! Beautiful place ✌️
It has been my childhood dream to become a marine biologist/professional diver. Unfortunately my parents did not think it would make me happy in life, therefore prohibiting me from pursuing it. Thank you John for allowing me and the rest of us to experience this with you, I truly felt as if I was there. Hopefully one day I can actually go and do this. The sea is so majestic isn't it?
It's so beautiful! You're welcome :) thanks for joining me on the experience!
The sand tigers are a blast to dive with. I dove with them in Vegas at the Mandalay Bay Aquarium. They'll never harm you. Once you dive with the sharks, you'll keep doing it. They're magical animals.
Great video. The island is so blue and pretty. I may have to go there when I go to Japan next year. Your videos have made preparing for Japan super easy.
White tip, Sand Tiger Shark and a real Tiger shark thats awesome i have other 100 dives in the red sea, bali, mediteran ocean and have only seen white and black tips. Next time i travel to japan i should include some diving ^^
4:47 they can be anywhere down here... HE IS BEHIND YOU!
I’m Japanese, studying English. Going to Ogasawara is one of my bucket list ideas !! It’s so far away from my hometown. I hope tourists can enjoy such a fantastic island ❤️ above all, you can escape from crowded subway in Tokyo ;)
Amazing footage, congrats John!
Wow! This video is great. I really enjoyed it. Thank you for making such a wonderful video!
Nice John! I am from the Philippines, but those dives look amazing! I want to go there!
while a lot of Japanese come to the PH just to dive
@@rumblefish9 It seems to be a phenomenon not realizing how beautiful your own backyard is. :-D
Reminds me of diving in Okinawa. Loved that place and TRC.
Great content as always John, watching your videos is a pleasure! Greetings from the Netherlands!
Awesome video the water is so blue and cool make me what to scuba dive now
I love ♥ sharks 🦈. They are such magnificent creatures. 🙏
Incredible footage! You sure did get to see so many wonderful creatures huh?
Beautifully shot, John!
Amazing footage, John! You're a truly gifted photographer/videographer. Not too bad of a host either :3
Glad the sand Tiger mommy was friendly! 🤘
Such a beautiful island. That dive was awesome.
3 sharks !! Oh my god john !! And they were so close unbelievable I'm happy you are fine !!😃😃 that's such in adventure just like one piece ^_^ it's amazing ^^
Wow...Just WOW !
amazing nature...
need to rework my must go list for sure hahaha
good job on filming editing ! so great !
Super happy this video finally dropped! You killed it again with the amazing footage and drone work, especially of the wrecked ship that was sticking out of the water. I cannot believe you got so close to those sharks, the one behind you scared me. 🦈🦈
I am incredibly jealous! Not only of the fact you're in Japan; but that you got to snorkel! It is my wish to bring my 2 daughters to Japan one day. 💜
How do 23 people dislike THIS?!? This is amazing John. WOW!!! Getting near the sharks like that and snorkeling to private beaches. I have that on my bucket list for sure now!
I love your videos, u just seem to enjoy the life while showing parts of it to us
Your videos inspired me to get off the couch and get to Japan. I don't think I will be scuba diving though! That shark looked pretty big! Another great video - beautiful photography and a great musical score, too!
Instagram squad here, keep up the good work John!
Great footage John! I love the abundance of sea life and how clear the water is! I didn't know that there were such beautiful dive sites like that around Japan. I can't wait to be there in, I'm going in late August and I'm considering doing some diving during my holiday. Are there any that are closer to the mainland? As I'm only going to be there for 10 days.
Love the video, great work! 😎👍🏽
Fantastic, the sand tigers teeth creep as hell! Dolphins seen was absolutely breathtaking! loved the drone footage of the wreck i told you about. My only complaint was there is not more! lol i still think you could have did 3 to 5 main channel eps but at least we got to see a lot more with the go channel. Just plain Awesome thanks for the share!
Avid diver and I was amazed to see you creating a diving video. Also sharks eat things/fish about 1 to 2 feet in size usually. We are to much effort to eat unless they are VERY hungry. Now I want to go to this place! Nice video!
This video should have tons more views, for the shark part alone.
Damn that was quality, thank you
Wow John what a great video! The water is so beautiful there and seeing the marine life there was awesome. The views there are one in a million. Thank you for sharing your adventure!
Glad you got to enjoy Ogasawara again! I'd love to go there sometime
Very nice video again, John! Endless Ocean is your game if you want to dive, but can't (or won't).
The great sea. And the amazing animals that live there.
Epic video of the sea life. Diving on the WWII recks must have been amazing and sad at the same time.
Yes, war is sad but remembering it is important so it doesn't happen again. The wrecks here are very interesting diving, like looking back in time 75 years.
You have a good voice & demeanor for your own program on Discovery or Travel Channel.
OK, My vacation place in next year is Ogasawara. Thank you John. :)
Greta Video John
This is just pure beauty. I got no words for this. Was really hoping for a scuba diving/underwater video in Japan from you. Thanks for this awesome video, makes me wanna go there immediately. Ogasawara is definitely on the top of my list~
Honestly, the visibility and the range of marine life that Ogasawara provides, is insane!
I think it could possibly be one of the top dive spots on Earth...I strongly recommend this place to divers if you're considering diving in Japan!!
It's so beautiful there. Love getting to see all the sea life. The water was such a gorgeous shade of blue.
I remember watching your livestreams from last year... what a paradise...
You were way too chill about the sharks... and the depths in general. Spoooky!
Heretic Hero this was about my 300th dive. I’m a dive master with deep dive license (wreck diving too) so I have had training for depths up to about 42m. After that, there’s no reason to go because it’s too dark and much less marine life that deep. I felt safer after the training which makes 25m more relaxing. I’ve dived with sharks before ;) but never so close. I remember some lemon sharks getting pretty close in Tahiti back in 2002.
Beautiful! Absolutely beautiful!!!
Thanks John
Fantastic another side to only in Japan!!!!
Love seeing your drone work John!!!! Beautiful!!! 👌
It's a great ocean there. Wish I could visit someday in the future!😁😁😁
I was looking forward to this one!! Amazing work!
One of the best videos John! thx!
High quality content as always 👌
Amazing footage as always!!!
Thanks john for another great video
I've been waiting patiently for this one John. It was worth every second. Wish your other camera wouldn't have made its way to the bottom, but my dad always said "You can't miss what you've never had." Frustrating for you, but you got to experience the dives. You made due and outdid yourself again. Great video!
Great episode. Wonderful content!
Simply Amazing.
Another good episode.
This was such a unique episode! Great shots you captured, even the pace of this episode felt like your Aogashima episode (the first one I watched from your channel, and it's still my favourite). Glad to have been watching ever since :)
Amazing video! Love the work you do.
Hi John, thank you very much for sharing such as majestic ocean! Another HD sugoi video kire! Arigato gosai masu!!
John you literally showed us HEAVEN 😍😍
