      I was brought up with my Mum listening to Rumours era stuff and as an adult only musical journey I got into blues and blues rock which naturally took me to Peter. I overlooked this era for a long time. That's what I love about music, it's a journey of constant discovery.

    • @AlexisDellmann
      @AlexisDellmann Před 9 měsíci +5

      @straycatttt2766 Yeah; but it was never the plan to have Stevie Nick's join.. Originally Mick Fleetwoid only wanted Lindsay but he wouldn't commit unless his girlfriend (Stevie) was also hired.. the band really didn't Need Stevie, because they already had a Great Singer, Musician in Christine McVie.. That's the way in my opinion itshould have stayed. Stevie was cute but she really couldn't sing and I just didn't care for the Dark vibes within most of her songs. With Christine, the band had everything. Chris could Sing, write, play the Piano, organ ,guitar, accordion plus she was a Beautiful person inside and out.. She was very Intelligent and Articulate , Talented and Beautiful and to me she was the better of the two.. The only reason I ever l ever paid much attention
      to the band was only because of Chris. I so admired her and feel so bad that she is no longer with us
      May she RIP

    This was, in hindsight (always 20/20 as you know) a point when Fleetwood Mac had to reach back deep into the basic thing that made them 'get on with it', as Christine McVie said. They had just lost Bob Weston on lead guitar, and Bob Welch was having to pick up a lot of it. "Black Magic Woman" takes me back to Peter Green and both his absence and presence here. The whole history of this band is a great trip into the unfolding of a musical tapestry through time of an important Band that tells that recurrent story.

      Bob's wife Wendy(RIP) said that it was Christine that kept Bob out of being inducted. He was suing them at the time for unpaid royalties, and Christine reportedly told Mick, "if he's there, I won't be", so Mick didn't include Bob. Great time for Fleetwood Mac. No jealousy, sexual tension, cheating, resentment and all that came later. Sure, there was some tension between Welch and Weston for some control, but they played very well together. Welch was a real musical talent, and elevated the band up to the mainstream. They had clean, positive synergy then. Went huge later with Buckingham and Nicks, but I hated the drama in the band with that lineup...But it did make for some monster hits.

      As a matter of fact at the time of the 1973 clip Mick had found out that Bob Weston (the guitarist in white) was banging his wife, and Weston was fired shortly thereafter. The band went on hiatus and their manager put a fake Fleetwood Mac on the road, claiming he owned the name. The 1974 clip is after they got the rights to their name back.

      major tension, cheating & resentment went on in '73, with Weston diddling Mick's wife Patty Boyd & getting fired over it, but i think his playing was probably inspired by her, as well as his having great songwriters to play off of - he was masterful on this album, & would've been world famous if he'd kept this gig up

This lineup minus the original 3 here just bores...... im asleep.
