Maybe he's never been the coolest.. and he's overlooked as a guitarist but Kirk Hammett has always been the nicest guy with fans.
I remember on Reddit a guy said in the 80s he was at the store with his friend and Kirk honked at them with his truck because they were wearing Metallica shirts. He parked and went to sign their shirts.
Him and Jason. Jason used to stay over after shows just to sign stuff for the fans.
Who said he's not cool or that he isn't one of the most well known and respected guitarists? I will fight them.
Prozac Kidz Lars really is a super nice guy, he always asks every fan his name, where he's from, if it's his first Metallica show and stuff like that. They actually all seem to be nice people. Or at least I haven't heard stories of them getting into fights with fans.
Think For Yourself in reality, every band that has toured/played shows with Metallica will tell you that Ulrich is the one who always hangs with the younger bands, parties, and generally still likes to have a good time. None of the other members are like that nowadays. So despite his reputation for being a douche, he's actually known in circles as the coolest member of the band because of this.

Never really listened to Metallica until the late '90s when I met my husband, who was always a fan of their music. So happy he introduced me to the band and all their great songs, old and new. My husband passed in 2016 and I'll always cherish those times blasting their music in our convertible. 🤘

Lars is only 5’6” while Robert is 5’9” Kirk might be about the same and with James being of course 6’1”. So there is a pretty good height difference between him and everyone else, he also might be wearing his biker boots which would help add some height to him
