    Can't believe I just found you guys. I have been fighting with my Dremel and my stencil burning tool to make these Christmas presents and I can't believe how much I have been doing to make my life harder lol thanks

    I just started painting lures and making vacuum stencils. I haven't used the framing technique, but I see how that can make it much simpler. I absolutely love the simplicity of your videos. It's amazing how much you can learn from such simple videos without all the extra hoopla thrown in. I don't sand those edges on my craw stencils, the rough jagged look makes it so realistic! I use a soldering gun to melt the template for my cutouts. I already have guys lined up wanting to buy my lures.

      Glad you value the videos kevin. The frame is simple but several other ways to get good results just they way I do it. Thank you for watching

    I really like that frame idea.

    I use the same technique by utilizing a frame to hold the thermoplastic in place. I also use a hot knife which comes with a soldering kit you can purchase at Walmart. Makes very clean cuts and almost like using a pencil

    I have the same basic set-up except I cut the baits I use for the mold in half.I actually sacrifice two baits because when you use the Dremel cutting wheel you want to cut offset to the center of the bait to get a true half that will lay flat when heat forming. So to get two true halves you need to use another bait and cut offset to the center line on the opposite side of that bait. Another tip is sometimes, when applying heat, you can melt or warp the bait you're using for a mold. I solved that by packing the bait half with milliputt putty. The putty dries rock hard. Your mold bait won't melt or warp and you actually pick up a little more detail on the vacuum formed stencil shell because the milliput putty warms as well during the process.

    i havent tried it yet read where a needle mounted on the end of soldering stick might work and be cleaner and less work i used the air high speed dentist drill, but those burrs/rough edges are a pain to get perfect,and if you leave the smallest amount , it will raise stencil up causing bleed through, great video

    • @greencountrycustoms8387
      @greencountrycustoms8387  Před 4 lety

      Yes they make a stencil cutter that is basically a soldering iron with a small tip. I will do video on that soon. Not perfect melted edges are ruff also but it is another way.

    I saw where the lure making plant has a set of tongs with a stencil for both sides at once. I wish I could figure that out

    Lol how did you put together the wood frame? I had a lot of plastic but it all curled up.

    • @greencountrycustoms8387
      @greencountrycustoms8387  Před 4 lety +1

      You can just buy two wood picture frames and place plastic between and add wood screws to each side how i made my first one

    I use empty milk containers a 6 pint one gets u enough for 2 baits the stuff in sheet form is pricey.

  • @fishingwithhoffman7365

    You didn't show making 2 of those. Did you make them both at the same time? Or did you make the second one off video?

  • @pamelamandola-duncan9293

    What thickness of stencil sheet do you use? And where do you get these - I’m looking at Amazon?

    Where did you get the speed trap blank?

    • @greencountrycustoms8387
      @greencountrycustoms8387  Před 3 lety

      They are not blanks those are the real deal Pre -rapala traps. 1/4 ounces have all be painted and sold have a lot of the smaller size.

  • @PucketyCrik
    @PucketyCrik Před 4 lety

    why don't you leave them in the frame when you drill them out?

    • @greencountrycustoms8387
      @greencountrycustoms8387  Před 4 lety +1

      You could but the thermal plastic is rigid and the frame isn’t needed except to keep the heated material from curling up until cooled.

    • @greencountrycustoms8387

      go to www.greencountrybaits.com all info there. depends on pattern and if your sending lures or not.

  • @fishingwithhoffman7365

    How thick is the wood?

    • @greencountrycustoms8387
      @greencountrycustoms8387  Před 3 lety

      It is 1/4 inch pieces i ripped. you can buy 2 small wood picture frames and get same thing it is just something to hold plastic firm while melting occurs so it does'nt curl up

  • @fishingwithhoffman7365

    I went to the link you sent me to and there was 3 sheets and it is Wayyyyyy to thick man! I am ticked off

  • @fishingwithhoffman7365

    The plastic in your description i paid 20 dollars for is 1/16" Thick WHITE! Not clear. Looks 2 time's thicker than what you are using! You said you would try to drop a link. You did and i wasted 20 dollars and alot of my time. Can you please tell me the right link to get the right plastic from and clear! I wander how many others purchased the same damn plastic and lost money! Some bad info. Good video with the materials that you are using but some very bad info. Also we have no clue what bits you are using in that dremal
