    I did my test like...once in the beginning of my journey like 5 years ago and it said I was low porosity. This video makes me think I probably need to do another test lol. very informative, thanks.

      Porosity can definitely change with time so it wouldn't hurt to do another test. Thanks for watching!

    The bump test (+the quick drying time) is how I knew for sure that I'm in the high porosity range 👌
    It was a lot easier to find the right products and methods from then on

      Really? Im glad you responded because I really wanted to know if anyone could actually feed the bumps/open hair shafts. Thanks for sharing!

    I can definitely say when I did the bump test I could clearly feel the bumpiness on the strands of my hair! Not smooth at all

    I have HP hair and I did the “bump” test. How it was explained to me was, take a FEW strands, while their still in your head, and rub your fingers along the strands in the OPPOSITE direction, so up the strand of your hair towards the scalp versus down. If it feels smooth, you’re LP because your shaft is closed and your follicles are not raised. If it feels “bumpy” (mine did) you have HP hair because your follicles are raised etc. It helps to rub up AND down the strands for a good comparison. For my hair, even with one strand, going down the strand, felt significantly smoother than going up the strand, so yes, if you’re HP, you can physically feel it with just one strand, but its much more obvious when you do it with several strands. It’s not really “bumpy” it’s more like friction, it feels like you’re rubbing very dull sand paper 😂. I thought rubbing your fingers up your hair strands would feel “bumpy” or rough regardless because you’re obviously going the wrong way. However, we tried it on my friend’s 4c LP hair, and it was completely smooth rubbing the strand in either direction. So 🤷🏽‍♀️

    I have high porosity and I can feel the lifted shafts of my hair. But I feel them only when I take a chunk of strands. If I take only one strand I dont feel anything. I also noticed that when my hair are wet I can feel the open cuticles even more.

    Thank you so much, I have been trying to grow my 4 c natural hair by myself, because my sister has always had permed hair. By the way, she just did a big chop and my mom has also always had permed hair, and I'm 13, this video help a lot lot.

    And yes! I have high porosity hair due to genetics (my hair absorbs moisture SO easily) and I feel the bumps for sure. It’s kind of weird feeling to be honest.

    Fantastic 👏 👏 👏!!!
    I always thought I had low porosity hair until I did the water method. Seems like I have medium to high. Plus, my hair soaks up moisture from the air pretty quickly, but easily lose it when im in a drier area. Im going to start sealing with butters or heavier oils

  • @abbib7347
    @abbib7347 Před 4 lety

    First off, you’re killin the game with that top bun chile! 😍 . This video is so informative! I never thought about porosity this deeply before. . I thought I had low porosity simply because my hair takes forever to get wet in the shower. But I also have coarse and dense hair so that could explain it! My hair strands actually have palpable and visible bumps on them, and my hair absolutely LOVES aloe, apple cider vinegar, olive oil, and heavy butters! I never get over how smooth my hair feels after using apple cider vinegar. Those are my staples! So I now think I have high porosity. Thanks a bunch! . . . Also its awesome to see how much your hair has flourished since I started following you with your wash n go hair gel comparison videos👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

    Yes very informative! From those tests it’ll determine that I’m low prosperity, but some of the things that are good for high prosperity hair help my hair too. Lol. So I truly don’t know. Thanks for this video, love to see you posting! 😭🙌🏾

    Pause is pronounced like the English word pose.
    Nice video Ruth but I feel like the trend of this type of videos has died a while ago, thus making this will not give you as much visibility as you deserve
    You could do makeup inspired by popular celebs or even vlogs?
    Much love from France
