  • [UPDATE ON LE LE] Giant panda Le Le safely touched down at Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport on 16 January 2024, and is now serving a mandatory second round of quarantine in China.
The giant panda traveled in his custom travel crate - from an air-conditioned truck to a specially arranged SIA Boeing 747-400F freighter aircraft at Singapore Changi Airport.
Accompanying Le Le on the flight were his keeper and veterinarian from Mandai Wildlife Group as well as a keeper from China, who fed and checked on Le Le on board the aircraft. Le Le took well to the flight and maintained a good appetite throughout, chomping on bamboo and bamboo shoots.
Le Le’s arrives in China to officially join China’s giant panda conservation programme for the protection of his species. T he China Conservation and Research Center for Giant Panda (CCRCGP) will be monitoring Le Le closely to determine the most suitable permanent residence for him, post-quarantine.
We will miss you Le Le!
