  • Jetson Bolt Pro folding mechanism seems to have a flimsy front hinge consisting of a loose pin held in place by a tiny C clip. This c clip doesn't look very strong.
    On reddit one guy crashed the c clip didn't hold the pin and the folding mechanism opened. / jetson_bolt_pro_handle...

    My latch is loose to the point that if I don't have the lock on, it will fall over on its own. Makes the handlebars wiggle a lot back and forth when riding. If anyone has a solution other than tape, please share.

    Thanks for the vid. We have a different problem though. The whole shaft wobbles and is loose. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix that?? Thought I had it sussed out by tightening a collar nut hidden under the bolt your showing, but no go. Need help..Jetson could care less since it's out of warranty and suggested a bike shop...no parts or manual given

      Does the whole shaft wobble when latched like the latch is not tight enough?

    Hey that’s normal there has to be a little bit of flexibility as long as that little pin that looks like a paper clip doesn’t come out you’re OK

    • @D8r8per
      @D8r8per Před 2 lety

      Yes I did remove that pin to realign the front tire and the next day I checked if that clip was attached and I poked it with my finger and popped off almost lost it. I didn’t fully insert the clip all the way I guess

    I mean how tight do you want it to the point where you're not going to be able to bring your handlebars up maybe they did that on purpose

    That’s how it’s supposed to be... there is slack when you untighten the lever and fold it and then when you go to place the bars back up and tighten the lever there is no more slack. I also wouldn’t recommend folding all the time just when you really need to fold it. Just keep piling it tho and you should be good!

      Except I have the problem with my bars folded and up right so any solutions before my handle bars detach from my frame mid ride

    As to the neck/headset mine slowly came lose not by much. I was never in fear of it coming undone but after 100 miles it did begin start to be a little squeaky, I always wear headphones so it's not at all loud, but I ride mine from one end of town to the other which will be a full charge one way and if the wind is 15 mph, I would need full assisted pedal all the way. I just put a tiny dab of grease on the moving parts of the folding mechanism and its good. I do feel when I loosen the chain a tad, I got an extra 5 mph from the assisted total miles. my throttle broke so I got a free bike replacement. I will be testing my theory over next weekend with pedal assist chain tightness (factory) total milage vs a little loose in city driving conditions. midwest area no large or steep hils just one small over the bridge pass hill.

      Thanks for the info! I still have to loosen my chain a bit. I'm curious how your test goes.
      For the folding mechanism, I also had some velcro tape around in just a s backup to the backup latch.

      @@soupnazi81 cool and that plastic piece that’s on the neck is a safety lock I noticed that the manual doesn’t state what it is. I wasn’t sure if this is the video I learned it from in case not you just turn the plastic piece so that the the little piece slides into the latch

    • @D8r8per
      @D8r8per Před 2 lety +1

      Just to be a little clear I’m not referring to the barrel pin faster I was loose there is a that hex bar that needs a little Allen wrench that needs to get loose before you crank it tighter, if would like to tighten or loosen just use a wrench and turn very little at a time lno more than a quarter turn. It’s a bit sensitive and also tighten that locking screw with the Allen wrench while it’s loose I found out works best for mine

    The lack of slack in the chain was my first concern. It was so dam tight I thought it was going to snap with all that crunch so I adjusted it and it’s a much smoother when I pedal now

    • @soupnazi81
      @soupnazi81  Před 2 lety

      How did you adjust it? The rear axel screw?

    • @D8r8per
      @D8r8per Před 2 lety +1

      @@soupnazi81 I just moved the rear tire forward just a hair if but if you can manage to remove the chain by pushing the chair towards the frame while you pedal then it is way to loose. It shouldn’t even get a chance to grab a tooth from the front sprocket. My front tire and rear came slightly off center so I adjusted the position the axels center then I calibrated both brakes. If you don’t know how to calibrate (100% calibrate not just the adjustment screw) the brakes I highly recommend not doing so and to keep it as is.

      @@D8r8per thanks for the detailed explanation. On my old Jetson I had to replace both tires an the rear was fun trying to get aligned by eyeballing so I know exactly what you mean! My new Jetsons chain is so tight when I pedals backwards there crunchy resistance. Ill fiddle with it.

      Get a space for the other side to take up the slack-but leave a little smigg of slack for flow and motion for fold to tight the metals can’t flow they will rub and mess eachother up -Fyi
