- Please note that this is the first raw recording of the song, which has not yet been mastered or finished. This is Fever Rockabilly Trio making their new album at Sugar Ray's Vintage Recording Studio, Wickford, Essex on 19th June 2013. Fever are fronted by Wil Collins-Nuttall on lead vocals and double bass. Wil's Son Billy Collins-Nuttall is on drums and Nick Bayford is on guitar. The studios are run by Sugar Ray Pat Reyford, David Privett and Dean Amos. This is my photo album of the whole day of recording Fever's first new album in 8 years. media/set/?s...

Cool, the true and living sound of mono. I love that.
Sounded warm and vintage. Love that equipment. Musicianship was good too!
I find this studio fascinating, because I loved 50s "do-wop" music ever since I was a baby in the early 70s and my parents always had those records and radio stations on that played that.
I am actually working on a "simulated 50s song" that talks about comparing the recording process of yesterday and today, and the song would be made to sound like an authentic "do-wop" record. I asked them at Sugar Ray's to refer me to a do-wop tribute group, and I'll send them a demo and have the band record a professional version at Sugar Ray's to make it sound like real "do-wop."
The stuff I've been hearing on CZcams from Sugar Ray's sound like old Elvis Presley records. Very authentic and impressive going through the original gear that was used in that period.
Wow the way music should be recorded. :D I'd love to have a whack at playing through vintage tube powered equipment :D.
nice one guys great song super studio
Your'e still sounding great Wil, great to see you performing again.

Love that simplicity!
Great sound and the old Ampex 350 reel machine performs very nice !
Real no fake recording! Love it! This is the future!
loved
Very nice!
thanks for da info on da board..
The One Thing That Has Happened To Music Is That It Has Lost it's VERVE ! Music Out Of Studios in the Late 50's and The late 6o's had that. Today, Music Studios for the most just want to Regurgitate what's being forever boringly played. I Would Love To Book Your Studio. It's LOVE That Board. Reminds Me Of The "REDD 37" That The Beatles Used Early On.
Get that beer away from the desk. !
Did the guitarist use an analogue guitar tuner?
hahahah
Nice
need to replace the pinch roller!
whats the name of this board hes recording on
+William Gupton It's a Collins board
Is that The King on drums or what???
7:07 Surprised no one's commented on the bully lead singer. Look at him, after the recording session! 🤯 What's he on?
They are a father and son who truly adore each other. He was only messing around, I assure you.
PonytailRuth Really?? Hmm. I'll take your word for it. The young lad just doesn't seem to enjoy it very much, evades/retreats, etc.
@@Tazmanian_Ninja It can get very tiresome in a recording studio when they have to keep recording the same songs over and over again, to get them absolutely perfect. You have only observed a few minutes but I have known them very well for over 20 years and they honestly get on brilliantly.
Nice! Would love to hear the finished product. Retro Rules!
where is mark mcgrath
Cool video. Where can I hear more 'Fever'?
you gotta dial back that treble for a more classic sound and the overall drums are too loud. It should sound balanced exactly how you want it in the ribbon mic before you even hit record. But you did a get a pretty good sound overall, just commenting, not being mean.. nice gear too.
Pauly Stax cool advice bro
is digital recording or not?
the guitar is out of tune.
Kurt Foster
And so is the singer.
Okay, it's analogue, but Mono is so "old hat"!
Snare sound totally does not fit the genre or the mix.....
Cornbob Rimlove How should it be different? Genuine question, I'm curious, from a production standpoint.
Yeah I agree. Sounds too tight. Loosen it off. Also is it close miked ?
