Definitely the first part of Naruto is why it deserves to be there……was so disappointed with Shippuden as it feels like a cheap experience just cashing in on the previous success of Naruto’s first half.
@@TheSoulCrisis I half agree shippuden has some of the best highs in the series you can’t forget about the pain arc, the akatsuki, the introduction of the 5 kage, itachi’s story.
@@crocoboi7936 yes pain arc was probably the last that shippuuden as top tier after that they become god level its not as good anymore when they were still ninja.
@@exalkalibor924 just like the rest I’m not a big fan of the war arc but but you also can’t forget about the 5-kage summit arc and the goated moments in the war arc like 8 gates might guy, kurama befriending Naruto and madara’s reveal. Not everything is bad after the pain arc.

I'mma be real with you, I grew up with Naruto starting when I was a preteen, and the series nearly singlehandedly supported me through my struggles for over a decade. That series was a lifeline for a kid growing up dehumanized and neglected. The relatable characters... the fight to overcome the overwhelming hurts of the past... the vibrant energy and hope, even in times of terrible grief. I bet there are a lot of people who need this kind of story while growing up, and truly are better off for having it.
...We might not all have become dentists, lmao, but the positive effect is real.

Even though I like One Piece more, Naruto will always have a special place in my heart as the first big anime I watched, and hearing these openings again made me feel so much nostalgia and happiness. I can't wait for Nick to react to Naruto and see him go through that same journey

A lot of bad takes I’ve seen come from a place of fundamental misunderstanding for a lot of reasons, being too young to understand it and basing their opinions on it, no critical analysis, focus on the action, not rewatching it or rereading it, etc.

I only remember the first few seasons. I watched them with my husband when I had finished my full-load of library school college work. It was exhausting and I remember getting into the show and occasionally falling asleep & being mad about it but I couldn't stay up. Just too much brain work after 9+ hours of classes, study, and classwork (labs, homework, papers) plus internships and that work.
Literally forgot about the 8th op and was so shocked when I heard it now for the rush of memories and nostalgia hit me like a truck!! Omg I started ugly crying coz this was one of my favorite comforting songs (with yura yura) and shit! it reminded me of my exact feelings when I used to watch Naruto 10 years ago and how much it filled my heart with hope and happiness 😢😢❤❤ oh my gosh I'm so happy you're watching it finally 😭❤️

I literally commented asking for OG Naruto openings during your early anime phase and I'm so glad you finally reacted to them. They're honestly so good and the nostalgia is crazy. Just wish you paused lesser between the openings because the build up and flow is kinda lost but all good :)

OP 3 is still BY FAR my favourite OP in Naruto Part 1. I like OP 2 as well but OP 3 is the first OP I ever saw as I'd only got to watch random Naruto movies before I started the series. And my older brother who was around the OP 3 arc showed me that opening and I was SO HYPED to watch the show after that.
Considering Naruto essentially revolves around child soldiers, NAruto being one of them (children who are ninjas who get sent on deadly missions for the sake of their village), this OP captured the innocent nature of children being thrust into the violent world of Shinobi, often kids having to fight grown men or women like Sasuke and Taka fighing Killer Bee (At the time literally the most powerful Jinchuuriki in the entire show and also a grown man), and you can see how messed up that is when you take a step back and look at it holistically.
Loved OP 6 as well
Kids like Haku & Kimimaru dying was common place in the show and this happy yet sad sounding song captured the bitter sweet nature of the show, and also the deaths of many characters to come. It was absolutely Masashi Kishimoto Tier!!!

These always hit back in the day.
I watched about 140 or so episodes of this show before the filler started and I decided to take a break. (I never got back into the show after.) Though rewatching these openings is so nostalgic to me. Sure it was tedious to download the rm files back in the early 2000's, but fandoms were so much more fun back then.
Just skip to the last 10-20 episodes if you already finished the sasuke retrieval arc, theres literally nothing else after besides filler practically

classic Naruto is really good because it has so much character, whereas, shippuden looses it in exchange for a bigger scope, which in my opinion harms the true potential that Naruto had in being a more "grounded" epic, where kunais were scary and what mattered were the characters battle strategies and ingenuity.
But either way its still a very fun series.
i'd still take Shippuden over Boruto, now THAT ruined the franchise.
The way you describe the drop in quality of the story and characters is exactly what I feel when I talk about it…….I feel like Shippuden mostly rides the success of Naruto’s first half and every experience feels cheapened in some way.
I don’t love the characters as much in their ideals, side characters fall to the wayside, too many flashbacks at points, battles become so grand the techniques and battle intelligence takes a backseat, and big drop in OP/ED/music quality which would elevate the battles and themes. Naruto simply doesn’t work as well with the grand scope it ended up with, much to its detriment or maybe it just needed to be handled differently.
honestly, for me Shippuden felt like a natural evolution of the story and by the time it was over, it met it's climax with an ending that most of the characters deserve. the slaughter didnt begin until Boruto, where they decided to carry it all forward, in a sequel that nobody wanted and nobody NEEDED.@@TheSoulCrisis

Naruto fillers pre shippuden were entertaining. The curry arc and the imposter clones were one of my fave ones.

People like to shit on that which becomes popular and mainstream, even if it's good. Naruto was very much the most popular anime in the west, and MHA was in a way its spiritual successor. The entire series being 49% filler doesn't help it I suppose, especially back when we watched it weekly, but it's still a great series with some of the best music (I also prefer the Naruto openings over the Shippuden ones).
