- Sometimes, you just have to say yes to things, and worry about how crazy they sound later. This was precisely one of those occasions when the incredible Piggy March invited me to ride in her Piggy TV on Tour demo. Here's the twist - I would be riding one of HER horses! As if that wasn't exciting enough, Olympic Gold Medalist Nicola Wilson would be by my side, guiding me every step of the way.

When said by Piggy March, 'ride one of mine' is a huge compliment. Well deserved too. Edited to add that seeing Nicola Wilson able to stand and walk is incredibly moving. Nicola is one of my heroes. I remember the days of Opposition Buzz and feel happy, so very, very happy to see Nicola progressing well with her recovery.

I honestly NEVER want to hear you say you don't know how to ride again, Meg. I mean, just don't do it!! You rode, at a moment's notice, a BIG horse who, while clearly beautifully trained and lovely, was not an easy ride, AND while being instructed by an international level rider, AND you did it in front of an arena full of strangers, AND you did it with sensitivity and real talent. YOU CAN FREAKING RIDE, OK??? 🙂 And kudos to GLM--the slo-mo footage Pete got was really super!

Brownie reminds me so much of my 20 year old boy - same colouring, same love of flyers, same lack of brakes on landing, same enthusiasm for life. I adore the older chaps, they have so much to give and people often write them off far too early. Mine hunts in the winter and shows in the summer and he just adores his job.
He was epic, totally loved his job bless him!
They get to that age and they just know their job so thoroughly that they totally don't need us sitting there and getting in their way 😆Mine would probably rather follow the hounds without me interferring! @@elphick.event.ponies
You smashed it Meg! I love seeing the process of you just getting getting better and better as you get more comfortable. Also look back at that footage and check out you being spot on in the middle of every fence! You deserved this 100%!

That was lovely..."just getting on with it" works in so many difficult situations (not that you didn't know that already.) Definitely riding unfamiliar horses in Ireland, and having Wilma to work with, seems to be expanding your confidence. When Jam's back in work, you may find her abilities are a little different than you remember (she may feel different to herself, too.) All bodes well for long-term *increasing* success. Oh, and happy birthday a day late. Two? days late.

This to me was super meaningful to watch, even as a total and complete stranger online never having met in person. Individuals such as you are, have the right attitude, lovely public persona, talented, and so down to earth. Those qualities are so rare these days and even more so in the world of Equine sports since it is common for ego of others drown each other out in those settings. You, your fam, and your group of friends are such fantastic group , impossible to find any other as good as you guys are online anywhere.

The progress you have had over the past 18-24 months has been phenomenal! Two years ago there would have been more than one circle, but now you showed that you trust yourself to use your half-halts properly, and that you can do anything you set your mind to!

I've never been fortunate enough to be able to ride consistently due to life circumstance and finances, but I love horses to the ends of the earth. I understand as one who trains athletically how much work it takes to overcome injury, whether psychological or physical or both, and come back in full force. Congratulations on everything.
