Aaron Short, Thank you. One of the better demonstrations.
Thanks!
I wanted to replace the Element with full Anthem on my Eastman AC422CE but was afraid it might be over my head. Your video gave me the confidence to proceed. I just did it...very pleased with the results. Your video was very helpful.
Thank Chris, glad I could help!
The mic is the best. I had the full version and it’s amazing! The best I’ve ever heard. It sounds so full!
Yes the full Anthem can sound amazing.
I am doing the exact same installation on my new Alverez delta 00. I got the full anthem and it looks like it might fit. Your video was beyond helpful for me. Your guitar sounds gorgeous. Wish me luck. Lol
I just bought a Delta 00 as well and am looking to switch out the pickup to the full anthem. How did it go? Do you have any recordings before / after?
THE greatest guitar pickup ever! Great video Aaron!
Thank you and yes I do love the Anthem series. The full version of the Anthem is my personal preference over the SL but it would not fit into this guitar.
I start using LR BAGGS after watchin this video. Great sound, very natural
Great news! It’s one of my favorites.
Thank you much, I just got my anthem sl, cant wait :)
Congrats!
Just wanted to thank you for the detailed instructions. Successfully removed my LR Baggs system following your step by step.
You’re welcome! What did you replace it with?
My Lowden 32se came with the LR Baggs Anthem full installed, it's a great system !
I agree. It’s one of the best!
About to do this switch for my Gibson J45 just a little nervous. I just put new strings on and I thought about doing it before I put strings on it but I’m glad I’m watching this video instead of just doing it myself like an idiot.
Good luck. It’s worth it!
If you just want the best blend of under saddle to mic sound and do not expect to have a need to revert back to only under saddle due to feedback at high volumes does the full-on anthem still have any advantages over the SL? I can change the phase elsewhere in the signal chain. I currently have an element VTC I'm not really a fan of the sound of. Does the weight of the full on Anthem control negatively impact the acoustic sound of the guitar? PS - I love your channel, you are a great source of information with out the advertising and promotion BS.
Get the SL.
I will add one little tidbit. I pulled the Element out of the Gibson, later installed it into an Alvarez AD70 dread - a nice laminated instrument w solid Spruce top, use this guitar as a spare at open mics... So I did not like it in the Gibson, but the Alvarez sounds very nice with it. Just goes to show that Tommy Emmanual is right -- you really have to find the one your guitar likes and wants...Cheers.
I’ve never heard an undersaddle pickup sound good in any guitar without a lot of outboard processing.
Which side of the bridge holes does the tru mic go on ? Toward the back of the guitar or the front ?
Towards the back. Behind the pins.
Hello, a little question. Can you use a strap with that pickup? Thanks!
Get a StrapKeeper from Tapastring: $10.
HI, thanks for the video... only one tip-- when installing the new pickup, you can simply take a 1/4" instrument cable (take the little plastic cowling off) and stick it thru the endpin hole from the outside... then all you need to do is to connect the pickup to the cable and pull it back out! Makes the install remarkably easier. I will say that I sincerely have a heartfelt disdain for my stock Element pickup, and am constantly looking for a decent setup. Any thoughts about the Anthem SL as opposed to the full Anthem? I have a pretty bassy guitar (1936 Gibson J35 reissue), tried an M1A (too much top end) the stock Element (ugh), and currently using a Mojotone NC-1 (nice but strong bass). Thanks again for the refreshingly intelligent vid..
Thanks! I would do this Anthem SL upgrade. It’s easy and sounds much better than the element alone.
When you put the pickup under the saddle did you have to readjust your action?
If there is no under saddle pickup in the guitar already then the action will be a little higher so you may have to sand the saddle down to compensate.
What do you think about the same Anthem but without the "SL". it's a little more expensive but is there a difference in terms of the sound?
There are actually several differences. It’s is $100 more. It has less output that the SL BUT it allows you to mix between the mic and the undersaddle. If you don’t need to mix then go for the SL.
Have you tried Carlos VIP pickup? :) Officially the best pickup they say.....
I never have but thank you for bringing it to my attention!
Hi Adam. I'm going to try install the Anthem today on my jumbo. It has an element already in it. Is there a need to take it out to put new one in?
You can do. It’s very easy to remove the Element. When I upgraded my Rainsong from Element to Anthem I did keep the same element. I just added the microphone and changed the preamp. Your choice!
@@aaronshortmusic Cheers. Only thing is the vtc doesn't have the end phono bit to fit into the anthem. It only has wires that look to be glued onto the vtc controls. Think I'm going to have to take it out. What a shame didn't really want to take it out to just replace it with the same one 🤣
@@Steven-Duffy It should be a quick job. The Anthem I mentioned was a ‘Stage Pro’ version. They must have different connections. Makes sense.
@@aaronshortmusic Problem I'm having is reaching the hole with the new pick up. Your guitar is abit smaller. Mine is a jumbo cant get my arm in far enough ha ha. I'm trying with a players hold the pick up. 🤣
Did you not consider putting in the K&K pickup?
Not for this guitar. Everything was already drilled out for the Element and as a grab and go stage guitar I feel the Anthem is the best option.
Aaron Short Music Makes sense 😊
I tried many brands pickup for my valuable guitars, finally Anthem sl with preamp is best natural and easy control sounds. someone consider to choose pickup, I recommend anthem sl + preamp+(comp).
I agree. It’s a great system!
