    Just signed up for Veri because of price. It is a 3-mth contract at $109/mth, but you can pay all 3 months at a time for $297. I found a discount code for 20% off and paid $237.60. Not bad for 3 months.
    Now, you have to fill out a questionnaire that will be forwarded to a doctor to approve your CGM. One thing I found interesting was they said if you have Type I or Type 2 diabetes, their CGM isn't for you.
    It sure would be nice if the medical industry would not make this device so difficult to get, then we could see a more widespread use resulting in more direct competition and lower prices.

      @@ShervinShares I'm 9 days in with Veri and I've really learned a lot. During the week, when I'm fasting 16:8 and only eating Carnivore, my glucose is rock solid, doesn't budge, only goes over 100 when I shower which seems to be a sensor issue and when I work out. On the weekend, I cheat on Friday and Saturday night and bread and other carbs do cause some significant spikes but I can reduce them with certain things like eating things in certain orders or taking a good walk within 20-30 minutes of eating. Only 9 days in and I'm already sick of entering my meals into the app and have basically stopped doing it. I think I learned enough that I don't really need to wear a CGM that much longer.

    I love how he explains the delay and the error margin here. It’s important to consider. That’s why diabetics still need to follow up with a BGM test of the numbers seem too high or low. Also, the Dexcom G7 can be added to an Apple Watch and you can see your numbers right on your watch. It also has alarms to warn of dangerous highs and lows.

    Shervin, in your headline you stated that you bought 5 CGM, but in your video (which I like) you cover 3 apps only that utilise CGM data. Ultrahuman was mentioned at the start but not covered. Are they any good? As far as CGMs are concerned there are two main players only out there, Abbot and Dexcom. For people outside the US and the Apple ecosystem, it would be good to know whether there are any decent health apps out there that offer similar services and functions as Levels etc. Keep it up!

    With the Nutrisense Freestyle Libre 2 which uses NFC my Android phone will vibrate twice upon contact. The first vibration is short followed by a second long vibration. Turns out reading occurs on the 2nd long vibration. If removed after the first vibration the reading/scan will always fail as there isn't a second vibration. The custom fabric patch that covers the cgm is very helpful to reduce snags especially if it's on your arm.

    Side note to the Keto Mojo... if you buy the stips, you can also measure your blood ketone levels. I just quit Levels because calling a 90 to 120 mg/dL increase with eating is absolutely not a “spike” and they really are skewed toward a keto diet. Also, the libre 14 day isn’t a cgm, it’s a flash glucose monitor. From an insurance standpoint it can be a huge difference. Fun fact, You can make the 14 day libre into a cgm that uses Bluetooth to automatically connects to your phone with products like miaomiao and blucon. It’s not worth it if you’re only scanning once a day, but it essential if you need real time bgl data and can only afford a 14 day libre

    Very interesting comparison! I know your work out a lot. How has it improved your performance, in more detail? You bring up a very, very important point and that is the apps and tools are geared toward diabetics and as such the reporting isn't granular enough to really support detailed goals. I notice a lot of athletes use these type of sensors. I assume their goal is to ensure the body stays at optimum despite very tough training, and targeting a certain bodily state. I assume their coaches and nutritionists use these sensors to find the optimum levels, but also to recommend changes based on the data gathered for the individual athlete, and their particular goals. Paying a base fee of $200-350 a month and then additional $175 a month for a nutrition coach is waaay to steep. What is needed is a more AI approach, where you track, set goals, and then the AI will give you recommendations based on the goals you have set. I guess that's a few years out. At 13:59 yes, that was my very first thought, I want to use the watch to enter stuff quickly. As is, I've spent a lot of time honing my diet, and my meals, in particular meal size, and macro division, based on GL charts, protein content etc, and so I know pretty well how my body reacts. I had breakfast with a diabetic friend and got to try their device for measuring my blood sugar and my levels were perfect even after breakfast. So all in all, the body takes care of the glucose levels, and unless there are recipes and guidance for accomplishing specific goals, beyond just stable glucose levels, it's not worth the money.

    I actually think these sensors are better for this type of data tracking compared to use for diabetics. The main issue is the accuracy. Up until the newest version of these sensors the accuracy wasn’t good enough to be actionable on. You still had to verify your blood glucose the traditional way before the newest sensors have gotten accuracy down to +/- 9%.

    1. Way cheaper to get a prescription through your doctor for a CGM.
    2. FreeStyle Libre is known for being 25, 50 or even more points off than your actual blood sugar level. It happens to me all the friggin time.
    3. Cheapest and most accurate way to do this is buying a blood sugar testing kit at any store which requires no prescription.

For the third month, they shipped my CGMs almost 2 weeks late (12 days to be exact). What did they offer me as compensation? Nothing. Here is the email they sent me:
    "I understand that you're frustrated with the delay in receiving your CGMs for this month. I apologize for any inconvenience caused by the shipment delay. The 4th of July holiday did impact the normal shipping schedule, resulting in a delay in delivery.
    I have tracked your package, and it is scheduled to be delivered tomorrow, June 11th. Here is the tracking information:. I apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience.
    Regarding refunds, I want to inform you that once monthly charges have been processed, subscriptions are non-refundable."

    Interstitial glucose is higher compared to intravascular?

    • @dwightl5863
      @dwightl5863 Před 10 měsíci

      Interstitial glucose lags the blood glucose by about 15 minutes but reads closely the same given the 15 minute delay. Also remember that blood glucose meters are not 100% accurate as the CGM's are not 100% accurate.

    • @texastexas4541
      @texastexas4541 Před 10 měsíci

      Thanks for the info, but why that 15 minute lag in interstitial glucose? I thought it was fairly quick to keep the hungry cells happy. 15 minute sounds like cells may go into ischemia. There has to be some sort of equilibrium where there is steady supply of glucose, etc to cells. @@dwightl5863
