Last King Tiger Attack on US Forces - Germany (March 1945)

- As the US 3rd Armored Division fought its way toward Paderborn in late March 1945, trying to complete the encirclement of the Ruhr Pocket, one of its task forces was ambushed by a King Tiger battalion. In the resulting battle, King Tigers managed to smash up most of the task force and ended the action with the tragic shooting that took the life of the 3rd Armored's popular commander, Major-General Maurice Rose.

Excellent...I just read a good account of this in the book "Spearhead"....the Germans came from the panzer training center in Paderborn...
Die letzte große Panzerschlacht gab es zwischen US und der Wehrmacht bei Paderborn. Dort starb der 2 Sterne General Rose. Die Operation der amerikanischen Truppen war es das Ruhrgebiet abzuschneiden.
