Great playthrough. You definitely had a bad beginning with all those traps (which is funny because those weren't meant to be the starting doors, since you paid the 5-time cost in the reverse order), and you still got awfully close to beat the dragon. Small nitpick: potions don't work the way you used them in this playthrough. They're not skills, they don't take a skill slot, they get tucked under the turn reference (page 18 of the rulebook, Identified Potions).

Great playthrough, thanks. 17:00 you can still take a skill if you like it better than one you already have, the old one is removed and becomes experience.

Re: the characters being all women (which is true of One Deck Galaxy as well). I remember people asking why on BGG, and somebody saying, "What if I want to play as a male character?", and the creator (who's a man, Chris Cieslik) answering something along the lines of, "You can certainly play as a male character. Just not in one of my games".

Thanks for sharing this! I got the game based off this playthrough and just finished my first game. I played the Archer and Dragon's Cave as you did and got to the boss. Dragon had one health left and I would've had to take 3 damage and be over. My last skill available was a dice reroll so I just went with it, and it changed from a 1 to a 6! Such a good feeling.

Of the 400 off board games this game rates 9/10. Simply love it.
Played it so many times that the card sleeves are melting ! 😅
FoS and expansion cards are OK, but this is so addictive.
    Regards from Cheshire.

I'm glad you enjoy it so much! It certainly is a fun little game! Can't say I've ever played a game enough for the sleeves to get worn, that's impressive!!

Good playthrough. I recently got this game and played it a couple times primarily because I realized I didn't have an "O" games when I was thinking about doing a favorite game from each letter video. I got this (Forest of Shadows version) and Onirim so far.

Haha!!! That made me chuckle! Funnily enough I look at my collection from an alphabetical point of view too and noticed that out of all the letters I own, I think 'o' game are my least played!
I like Onirim but I think if I'd known about the app would have gone for that instead.
What do you think of the Forest version? I'm not really sure how it integrates with the base or if it's standalone or what!?

@@bluedogboardgames I've only played the Forest of Shadows version and I have only played two games (both without campaign). Surprisingly, I found the poison aspect to be less of a big deal than I expected for that being the main thing it adds. Mostly I have avoided getting poison, but the second game I played was a little more poison-heavy (especially the boss), so I did get some poison, but it is actually easy to get rid of without it hurting you as long as you don't get too much. Basically, every time you EXPLORE, you roll a die and if you rolled higher than your amount of poison you don't take any damage and get rid of a poison. If you roll less, then you take two damage and still get rid of a poison... I can't remember how poison works when facing the boss. From what I read it integrates with the original by mixing the cards together... I'm guessing you use the same amount of cards as normal, but just mix together the cards... as I said I only have the Forest version, so have not really looked into how it integrates.
I also played it wrong the first time and I didn't do all boxes on the level card (only did the ones for the level I was on), and so it wound up being easier than it should have. I fixed that the second time around.

And I don't know how the potions work fully in the original, but it seems like the Forest one may add an extra thing (unless I missed it) where when you use a potion you also get to either heal 1 or remove a poison in addition to the use of the potion. Oh quick question, as I may have been playing this wrong, do potions count towards your skills? I noticed you put yours under your player board, whereas I was putting them under the potion area on the player aid and I was not counting it towards the number of skills. @@bluedogboardgames

No I think you're right about that actually!! Looks like you pop the potion under the turn reference and not the skill section, which makes them slightly less annoying! Unless they altered that rule in later versions (I think I've got an early printing). I think you're correct! Thank you!

Hmm ok! Sounds interesting but doesn't sound like it adds a huge amount, I guess extra cards enhances replayability but not sure I find them to get tiresome yet 😋
