米国「20世紀フォックス社」の人気映画「エイリアン」と「プレデター」の2作品をミックスした格闘アクションゲーム。ストーリーはアメリカのダークホースコミック社のコミック版をベースにしたカプコンオリジナルとなっている。内容は異星の戦闘種族「プレデター」と軍の戦闘サイボーグの2人が、大発生したエイリアンに立ち向かうというもの。登場するキャラクターごとに能力は異なるが、ゲームをやりこんでいくとそれぞれに独自の攻略テクニックが見つかり、そこが多くのプレイヤーを惹きつけることとなった。攻撃は地上でのコンボ攻撃に加えて、ジャンプ攻撃での追い打ち攻撃が可能。さらに、銃火器も標準装備されている。敵エイリアンが一度に大量に登場する為からか、難易度が高いように思われる作品だが、横スクロールアクションゲームとしての完成度は非常に高く名作として語られることが多い。
ストーリー:
エイリアンの大発生。かつてない恐怖が、独立海上都市「サン･ドラド」に降りたった。軍の戦力として現地に向かったリンとシェーファーの2人は、そこで別の生物と遭遇する。 ･･･プレデター。今や人類の存亡は、この異形の戦士の行動ひとつに委ねられている。

Hish-Qu-Ten wow, really? I remembered that in middle school, I ditched school like quite a lot due to games, while me relatives were away of work and school. It wasn’t AvP for that arcade game kept on moving to different locations.

Good old days when every little game Capcom did was creative, fun and challenging. All that having good stories even for arcade.

As such Haggar is from a game developed in Japan, and he is animated. Thus an anime character.

Linn Kurosawa is a so cool character, she deserves to be better known and to have more fan art.

Yeah, I have waited they could put her in some fighting game for like 25 years, would be really amazing to see it happening.
I'm actually certain she was originally a strong contender. But the aliens/predator rights were a mess to sort out. Having her without any alien/predator appearance (like with jill/Chris and zombies or captain commando and the rest of his squad) was deemed to make her appearance less interesting so she was dropped.

Everyone plays Predator Hunter cause of his crazy damage but Lt. K was my main pick any time I played this game. Awesome air throws and the charge shot and sword moves made her so mush fun to play.

I always picked the guy, because of his dmg, and the fact that you can jump while grabbing them and smashing a giant alien into the ground, it is awesome

I read somewhere licensing issue is the hardest thing esp because Capcom’s rights to the series ended. Not sure how these things work but this would be a great arcade port to modern consoles
AvP is finally being ported to a home console. Capcom Home Arcade will include AvP with another 15 games! The price though is......lol just see for yourself haha

This was my go to game when waiting for my mom to be done shopping at the mall.
Goes after all the aliens known with only an automatic pistol, a sword and hand to hand combat. Also is a master with the Predator Smart Disc. I wonder how many gamer geeks are just in love with this woman? LOL
because the Xenomorphs presented here are those actually rejected by the real Xenomorphs in Alien movies... Their retarded cousins in fact.

Maki Genryusai's roster slot in Capcom vs. SNK 2 was originally planned for Linn Kurosawa from this game, but due to legal issues was switched to Maki. There were also plans to give Maki an identical moveset to Linn as a way to include her regardless, but this would also end up being scrapped as well.

One of the best damn beat-em-up games ever made by Capcom. I plaued all 4 characters & Linn was the best overall.
I played this game ONCE. I used a predator but when I died, amid the fumbling of quarters to continue, I respawned as this chick. Honestly, her gun made it a hell of a lot easier for the mobs and I at least got to the vehicle section in the first 10 minutes.
Tell me about it. Me and my job corps buddies had access to the 4 player one. They called Dutch and the Predators, laughed at me for taking the woman that doesn't even use her sword as much as the others. After the initial Alien Queen, they realized they spent twice the quarters and I was doing all this cool shit they didn't have access to. Was a blast.

I really liked this in arcades. Capcom made fun side scrollers.
They were probably the overall best at the genre back in the day, though Konami certainly gave them a run for the money at it.
Things I learned from this game, Alien bites can be cured by eating Pizza. Also shame Capcom decided to withheld this from the Beat Em Up Bundle, but I guess the licensing was too annoying to deal with.

I'll never forget this arcade game. It was in a theater at the nearby mall. Got like the 2nd highest score in the game if not the highest that day and got a free movie ticket. Ahh... the good days.
Now I made myself feel sad. ;-;
It was not published for console due to the high price of the license since the characters except Kurosawa, are not from Capcom like the scenarios, they are the property of the original producer 20th Century Fox

Linn is far and away the best character in this game.
Cool tip, you can cancel her slide kick into her sword slice dash attack and cancel that into her fireball.

That would be pretty amazing. Incredibly time-inefficient though unless they make Kurosawa the canon protagonist with guest appearances from the other three characters throughout the game. Perhaps as potential unlockables, but even that's asking a lot.

いやホント凄いです!全てのアクション動作に無駄がない!ノーミスパターンが確立している。各キャラの設定もしっかりしている。この作品の基板、今だにプレミアで、入手困難だそうです。ここだけの話ですがヒロインのリン・クロサワは、90年当時に出たアダルト対戦格闘のVGというゲームの主人公、武内優花に似てると言われているのは一部の人しか、知らない話、、、。
Kurosawa is definitely using the same fighting style as Guy from Final Fight.

Man, I have had the pleasure of playing this game only once with the hunter predator and had to abandon my quarter 20 min in because the movie was starting. The hunter can pin opponents to a wall and hold them there until their deaths. As long as you throw your finisher in the opposite direction.

This is literally as if they had a Ninja Steampunk Beat-em up in the works but the Capcom Exec team told them they had the license for AVP and forced them to do something with it.
Its literally like looking at two separate games spliced together. Even the character designs don't match
I wish this game had special finish animations, like for instance at 1:57 There should be an animation where the alien boss gets cut in half by the disc. It would have looked cooler.

First game I ever finished in the arcade. Hell I would finish it on the regular with randoms. So addictive. I remember crowds of people used to gather around to watch us finish it back when it was new and on the big monitor. Good times.
