Yorkies do make great pets! Yes they are intelligent - can be very cheeky too. My first, a girl, Susie, was standard size, not much of a barker, loved walks, cuddling; but also had a stubborn streak. At a bbq party, where everyone brought their dogs, we had to go over a bridge - the bigger dogs wouldn't let Susie get on. So she went down the bank, swam the creek & was first across! She bossed her friend Bessue, a hound but both were in turn bossed around by my cat, Sam!?! My current Yorkie I got as a pup, he, Sam, is much cheekier, very affectionate, totally spoiled & well socialised - on a campground, he acts as the 'greeter' to all people & dogs passing by! On walks he will even drag me into campsites to visit people and dogs. In general, he is a good boy but needs to be taken in hand when he gets too noisy! Also, he is very smart; at three months, he had determined neither I, at 74 nor my partner at 80, could catch him & he rivalled in this knowledge, stealing socks & tissues, evading all our attempts to catch him as he zoomed around After a week or so, I had to put a leash on him indoors which I would step on to stop him. He seems at 2 1/2 to have outgrown this game. It's now mostly tug-of-war, fetch the ball & playing goalie. He's an adorable wee beastie!!
Thank u❤
