    Haven’t played any, but all are on order after watching the Before you play videos. Monique and Naveen do an amazing job presenting these games. Hopefully will love them all. Can’t wait to see more content from you to see what you guys think and how you get on with them.

    I’ve been buying and playing his stuff since Vinhos wad repackaged and deluxified. Feels like 8/9 years now. My favorite to pull off of the shelf, to teach, and to just simply look at is Lisboa. That being said, my favorite overall has to be CO2: Second Chance. The mechanics and gameplay are simple and smooth but the margin between loss and victory is razor thin. One mistake and it’s over. I’ve played it 20+ times now, always using the Big Coal expansion, and I’ve never pulled that 50 carbon coal plant once. It’s fun to me knowing that there’s a game ending bomb in the draw bag (big coal). And plus, I get to pretend that I’m saving the world!!

    I played 3: Lisboa is my number one. Great historical theme. Love the « simple complexity » of the actions. The Gallerist is the most accessible of the big games. A close second. On mars was too much for me. Waiting for Weather Machine!

  • @SasquatchChief

    Of the ones I’ve played, On Mars, The Gallerist, Kanban EV, Weather Machine. Strangely the number plays influences the rank. I’m waiting for one of my heavy game groups to bring Lisboa to the table. Not sure if I have interest in playing CO2 or Escape. I did back Inventions.

    My fave overall is Gallerist, due to theme. Mechanically, I like Lisboa the most. Ranking them, I'd go: Gallerist, Lisboa, On Mars, Kanban EV, Vinhos, Escape Plan. I think they're all worth owning and playing. I haven't played Weather Machine, my guess is it ends up in the Kanban/Vinhos range.

  • @brianbarnhart428
    @brianbarnhart428 Před 2 lety +1

    I've played all except Kanban EV (or Kanban that matter), this would be my rankings with number of plays in parentheses: Lisboa (8), On Mars (3), Gallerist (2), Escape Plan (10), Vinhos (1). Lisboa is probably my favorite game of all time, with that said, Escape Plan as you can see gets played more as its "easier" to table and some in my game group (including my wife) really enjoys that push your luck element. As someone who enjoys Lacerda games because luck tends to be minimized it will probably be my least favorite of the bunch after I get in a few more plays of Vinhos. That said, I still really enjoy it and it would definitely still be in my top 50 for sure. Very interested to see where Weather Machine falls when that comes in and Kanban when I finally get it tabled!

  • @xtrava24x
    @xtrava24x Před 2 lety +2

    Lisboa & Kanban EV are imo the best ones, mechanically and thematically. While I enjoy Lisboa at 2, I prefer Kanban at 3 / 4. On Mars I found a bit too complicated (not complex!) and I didn't enjoy it too much. I really like Escape Plan, and it's the most "different" Lacerda. Gallerist is a really classic, interactive euro I quite enjoyed but didn't love. Vinhos I haven't played yet.

  • @michaelkisielewski4218

    Played all of them and you are so correct in saying that once you understand one Lacerda, it makes learning others much easier. There are definitely certain types of mechanics that he likes to use. I’ve played all only Solo, and I’d say my least favorite is Escape Plan, but honestly I think this has to do with being such a departure from the normal “feel” of one of his games. I think it is still a very solid entry.
    What I will say is that even though it is not an EG deluxe edition, CO2 is a pure joy to play. Stronghold’s version is very well done and it ranks up there with Lisboa and On Mars as my favorites.
    Simply put, I will back anything Lacerda does without a second glance as I know I will love the crunchy mechanics and the integration of the theme into the mechanics as well. He is definitely a very unique designer.

    I've only gotten to play Vinhos and CO2: Second Chance digitally. Vinhos was very confusing at first, but once you figure out how it works it's awesome. CO2 was the first one I played, haven't beat it yet (have only played solo), but it's a very fun experience to try

    I've only just played Kanban recently out of all of them. I like the game a lot, but I understand your sentiment. The supercharge expansion is perhaps one you should try out since it gives capability upgrades which opens up more ways to play.
    I have Weather Machine coming and excited as it's my favorite theme. Lisboa by mechanism would probably be the next we'd get after that.

  • @m-sousa
    @m-sousa Před 2 lety

    My favourite is original Kanban (I haven't played the new EV) followed by Vinhos (also original, I played the new one but I like the tightness on the previous one). I also really love the Gallerist and my only play of On Mars.
    Lisboa is the favourite (of the main more heavy Lacerda's line) for most people, but for me is only above Escape Plan. I used to say it just had too much going on at the same time, but On Mars goes further. Nowadays is just a feeling, maybe the parts are more disconnected than on Mars. But I like Lacerda games a lot really

    Played Escape Plan and Kanban. Backing weather machine. Hoping to try Lisboa and On Mars. At full player count it's hard to beat Escape Plan with fun people who know the game and go all out with the theme. Some of my all time favorite game nights have been Escape Plan. Kanban offer a brain workout but can't compare to the moments Escape Plan offer with the proper group.

    i'm your guy. total lacerda fanboi. from the bottom up...
    weather machine - watched several play-throughs. like the theme. the art is fine. it just doesn't seem to really be connected to the theme. empty mechanisms. this made me sad.
    CO2 - i dunno...maybe it is the subject matter? it is fine, just not my fave. it is still better than 95% of stuff out there.
    vinhos - at this point, this one just seems too light for me. he has learned a lot since this came out.
    kanban EV - better with more than two players. the supercharger expansion really helps this one. my lone issue is that it seems to really reward something kinda boring - shop manuals (training). the makeover by ian is just miles ahead of the previous versions.
    escape plan - much maligned by other lacerda fans because it is lighter and not a straight euro. so? this one is probably the #1 pick if you are having a game night with new players. it is entertaining and unique.
    the gallerist - works perfectly with three players. what an interesting theme! my only issue is that the foreign market and auction area looks a bit tacked-on. splitting hairs here really, as this is yet another great one. this is a great place to start if new to heavier games.
    lisboa - nearly flawless. my only issue is the iconography. you WILL need to keep the manual near to see what each tile represents on the clergy area. the slight negative split the tie for the top spot with...
    on mars - my all-time #1 game. 30 plays in, and i still get humiliated. i am not good at these games. i have had ONE game of this one where i felt like i did a decent job. like most of his games, the theme just makes sense while learning it (save weather machine). yes, it is heavy, but it is a fairly easy teach.
    be sure to sign up for his discord and check out his upcoming one - inventions. i have no opinion on that as of yet, but it involves ideas and sharing them.

    I purchased Kanban EV a few months ago and I was disappointed by how passed on the theme is. I think a much more simple game such as Furnace is more “thematic” than Kanban EV.
    The guy who does the 3 Minute Board Games channel put it perfectly when he criticized On Mars for having mechanics that on only justified “because game”. The “because game” criticism is a actually valid criticism and applicable to ALL board games, but with Lacerda games, for me at least, the “cuz game” mechanics are more obvious and bothersome because the point of all the complexity of Lacerda games IS thematic immersion. Kanban EV is one giant mess of “cuz game” mechanics.
