Come with me as I got to work with a helicopter company to take people exploring a glacier in Alaska. I use the Sony A1 for my main camera for photo and video work like this and for this trip I took the Air 3 out as my drone. I filmed almost this entire video on the DJI Action 4

I also have the Air 3. I use it for thunderstorm chasing mostly and it handles crazy weather better than any drone I’ve ever owned before.

The blue creek contrast with the glacier is amazing. 🎉 You need a Philip Bloom cat Jake. Exotic location. Helicopter rides. Dangerous crevasses cannot compete with 400 videos of Philip Blooms cats. 🎉 As the dance teacher says to the childs mother in Donnie Darko...."Sometimes I doubt your commitment to the You Tube sparkle motion algorithm." 🎉 A cat Jake! At least one.

Great shots Jake. I finally picked up an a7R V to go with my a1.. I wish we’d get a firmware update of the focus stacking for the a1.. probably be awesome for some of what you do. being that Sony doesn’t assemble them in-camera I suppose we can still shoot them old school on a tripod . Cheers!

So cool. I think you just might possibly enjoy your job. 😄 Have you ever thought about flying a drone lower into the waterfall and get a great rising shot? The opening looks large enough but I don't now what the air turbulence is around the water. (Perhaps an Avata 🤷♂️)
I have done that in a couple of other places where the moulin was a little larger. this one was a bit too small and had a LOT of water going into it
as always, mazing video and stills! the blue water always amazes me. I have wonder sometimes though if you have ever considered using goggles 3 with the air 3 to get really close down shots of the glaciers and water pools?

I can’t ever get over that blue….. Do you find it difficult to show scale with photo/video?
always. it's so difficult to capture the true scale and feeling of standing there in a location like this.
Also, on a scale of 1-10, how dangerous is working on the ice field like that?
about 1 if you know what you are doing about 11.5 if you don't. fortunately I have a lot of experience so I know what to look for and be careful of. For most guests a guide is an absolute must for stuff like this
Do you ever shoot on the 70-200?
actually no lol, I do love that focal range but I find I need wide and tele almost back to back so the 24-105 is a better fit for me for almost everything. I've rented a 70-200 a few times for corporate stuff but I never found I needed it enough to buy one

that comes from the glacier scraping along the sides of the mountains and dragging it with it as the ice flows downhill
