Hunting a Metre Flathead on the Gold Coast

- In this video we spend two days showing you how to fish for big Flathead in shallow waters, using swimbaits and large divers. A metre Flathead is something Bergie has been chasing for years and with a few big girls getting caught on the Gold Coast it seems like the perfect time to try and hunt one down.
The break in filming for Fishing Addiction has allowed us to head out on the water with Rodney and put our fishing skills to the test.

Ive had a over a metre try to eat a 40cm flathead, what rush that was 😮
I caught a 112cm flatty under Sovereign Island bridge on a live Hardy Head and a 102cm in Biggera Ck about 20yrs ago. Both in the same year, both in the GC.

Ahoy bergie some nice flatties ay love ya work but I'm surprised your not being smashed by people in the meter club haha I got one about 6 years ago right next to wave break island right on the meter and have met afew others over the years that have got that magic meter beast they are on another level ay cheers

Have you ever tried the shimano arma joint? I've heard hot pink is a favourite for flathead. Have you any thought on hot pink or is white the complete stand out?
I caught a 109cm flatty that went 4.87kg on 6lb gear under the markeri st bridge in mermaid Waters in 1997. This was on a live herring caught from the bridge.

The Zerek Affinity swimbaits are the best in my opinion but the Bone Focus lures have been getting a few as well 👍👍

There was a two meter flat head cort of Harvey Bay pear tree years ago it was impressive I was there when it happened and a young fellow cort it .and there were several people there .the biggest iv ever seen .

They get 6ft long. Those big girls are out there. I've seen 2 caught at 170-180cm. One in the Bribie passage and one at Slipping Sands

About 2 months ago there was a 1.3m caught in caloundra river mouth.
The dpi told me about it the. The bloke didn’t even get a photo.

COIN ISLAND GLADSTONE. 1997 I GOT 1055MM . NARROWS 1014MM. ROCK BARS CHROME VIBES BOTH BLACK BREAM OVER 500MM AS WELL.
