    Tupac wasn't really just a rapper. He represented the average everyday brotha. He didn't spit many metaphors or was the best lyrcist alive. The reason why people label him the best is because they can relate to him and his lyrics. it was some flossing in his music but for the most part he spoke the truth and tried to better blacks as a race. you can compare him to biggie, mobb deep, nas, jay, or whoever. The man was a totally different artist from all of them, so there is no comparison. None of us are perfect. Pac wasn't and you will never be. But he had a strong voice for the black community and it ultimately led to his death. Before you comment and post things about some of the great black people that came before you, take your time to study them outside of music and learn what they stand for instead of joining the hater band wagon. Real talk

    i dont understand why so much ppl dislike n hatin prodigy here. hes just keeping it 100! first of all lemme make it clear, 2pac to me is the greatest hip hop artists ever. he wasnt the best rapper, he was a good rapper, but in terms of an artist he was the best song writer and all round artist in hip hop history, in my opinion. What made him special to me was his character and warrior/political spirit/vision. HOWEVER ... you pac followers need to calm down! you wasnt there, dont know what or wasnt part of what was goin on, and yh pac stood for more than these other rappers, but he was not perfect and at times was almost schizophrenic it seems. sometimes he said too much and where as these dudes were not on his level socially or in the game, they are still street dudes and would not take disrespect! mobbs music is classic, and was a big part of that "90s/new york sound" that all of you say you miss when you diss todays artists, and they have countless anthems! they bring something different to the table then pac, whether its sound, how they rhyme, their energy all that, and you have to show respect. they were not and will not reach the level pac was on, in terms of power and influence on society or hip hop and yh i feel pac was on a next level to these ppl in what he stood for and "realness" (which is not a good word to use). But dont be a follower. and all you hating on pac for stupid ignorant reasons and dont see what he represented and meant to the culture, are just lost niggas as lux would say lol ... ALL in my opinion

      First off I like prodigy and yes he probably is hood but saying he's better than pac never, pac was on a Malcom x type thug Life rapper, pac rapped about what really was going on he didn't just rap about B's the streets but what really was going on and I think people were actually jealous of him, I grew up on biggie and pac and always been a biggie fan til actually listening to pac the words he was complex, deep, way ahead of his time. I'm not saying this because he was a good rapper, to me he was better than Biggie, he just hung around the wrong crowd, but the brother was deep, it's crazy to see and hear how much knowledge he has in his music, personally yeah he got upset because of what transpired from the quads studio robbery and that set him off but trust pac was deeper and more influential than mobb, yeah they rapped about the streets ok, but pac had a message in every song he rappped

    Regardless of your take on this, everything Prodigy said was true. Tupac knew exactly who they were and they were going right back at him. They were some of the only people in New York going back at them. It must have been hostile and it would have gotten very ugly if they crossed paths. Both Mobb Deep & Pac were running with some high powered individuals who were ready to put it all on the line. Mobb Deep are in my top 2 and rest in peace to Pac. The entire world felt that blow and still does.

Pac was publically making fun of P's disease.. it was getting kind of personal. What I do respect though is Prodigy saying how much he learned to respect Pac later in his life. Saying that little did he know but they had a lot of friends in common and would have probably been on the same team by now.

    @I3oomerTappy Před 10 lety +52

    In actual fact, Mobb Deep kept it shit tons more real at the end of the day.
    Mobb Deep never got media attention because beefs and riots is what caught the eye of Television and Newspaper back in the days, the Mobb were 19 and 20 years of age during this time, their mindset was on music, and frankly the whole East coast were like that too. Did you ever see Wu-Tang, Nas, Jay-Z, Big L, AZ etc. Back in the 90's getting involved in petty beefs as such?
    The only incident which flared the whole thing was the statement that Biggie shot Pac, and that is what mainly started the idea of "West vs East coast". (long story short).
    And to be brutally honest, Pac loved it. I saw are numerous interviews Tupac willingly participated in, blatantly calling out rappers, e.g Biggie, Nas, Mobb Deep, Puffy... Tupac only dissed Mobb Deep because his gangster vibe was being overcome by some young dudes who dropped 2 massive hits, and Pac cracked it when Survival Of The Fittest had guys yelling "Thug life, we still living it".
    At least Mobb Deep had the decency to take "Drop a Gem on em" off the radios after Pac died as a sign of respect, P claims he wanted to kill Pac, but that wouldn't have happened. For all that Dogg Pound, Pac and other "West Coast" rappers did to Mobb Deep and other artists, the "East Coast" could've sat back and laughed as that song was being aired.

    Prodigy wasnt as big as pac. East coast is more grimy, underground. Stick with one crew type of thing Mobb Deep. West coast, they jumping all over to different crews. Death row, N.W.A., to ruthless records. Thats what the media likes, tension & beef. Mobb Deep didnt get much coverage cause they didnt switch crews like all them west coast rappers did, but they good with it cause they keep it real. All about loyaly on eastside. West coast is all about that dollar sign. As long as they get paid they dont give a fck who they with.

    • @dastardlydaring5142
      @dastardlydaring5142 Před 10 lety +6

      Fool, you think East Coast keeps it real? LA invented gangbanging homie. Not Chicago, not New York. I'm not talking just about territory wars, in LA the gangs kill people just because they like to. MS-13 is by far the most violent street gang in the USA and Central America (Mexico, El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala, etc). Do you know where MS-13 originated from? Right in the heart of LA. The rappers that come from the hood in LA, of course they are gonna switch record labels if they feel like they are getting fucked over. Why? Because the west coast rappers were out selling the east cost BY FAR back then during the east-west coasts 'war', and their record labels weren't paying them enough. Of course it's all about the dollar.
      What the fuck is this bullshit about "keepin it real" because the east coast rappers didn't switch record labels that often? Every fucking rapper ever was in it to make money. And that's why during that whole stupid feud, the west coast rappers were gettin paid way more than the east coast rappers, even Biggie (RIP, I love Biggie). The only exception here is Tupac. He was a political activist, he didn't just rap about money and bitches, he rapped about poverty, racism, the Prison Industrial Complex, I mean his mother was a BLACK PANTHER for fucks sake homie....Pac was a poet and his words touched the hearts of so many people that he has a cult following where people think that he is still alive. They can't accept the fact that he's dead, and it's been 18 years!!!
      And that's not to say that New York rappers didn't keep it real. Nas is the best rapper to come from the east coast IMO. I LOVE Biggies music, but Nas was almost like Tupac, he rapped about poverty, he told stories like Pac did, Nas is a lyrical genius and he DESTROYED Jay-Z. And look at most of the big time east coast rappers now, Puffy is a sellout, he didn't keep it 'real', Jay-Z is a sellout, same shit. EVERYONE is in it for the money, get that fucking nonsense out of your mind. I'm originally from Europe, but I moved to Bedstuy Brooklyn when I was nine, and moved to SoCal when I was 15, in Watts (remember the infamous Watts Riots before the LA riots in '91). Let me tell you homie, the ghettos and slums, the gangsters in New York are not shit compared to the motherfuckers out in Cali. I never seen some people that are so fucking cruel in my entire life. MS-13 is the most violent and powerful street gang in the USA and Central America (El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala, etc.), and MS-13 originated right in the heart of LA. It was a FUCKED UP place back in the 90's. When the LA riots hit in '91, my family moved back to Europe, too fucking scary in Cali, and we ony lived there for two years. The USA is a fucked up place and I'm glad to be out of that shithole. But everybody in the east coast was tryin to imitate Cali gangs, it's fucking hilarious. Chicago is almost as bad as LA was during the Rodney King riots. Detroit, Baltimore, LA Atlanta, New Orleans, Oakland, are all waaaay more scary than New York ever was, even in the highest crime rate boroughs.
      So again, don't get me wrong, I got love for New York rappers and peoples in New York, Manhattan is my favorite place I've ever been, just because it's so beautiful with the skyscrapers and the lights at nighttime. I cried on 9/11 when the WTC came crumbling down, and I'm European. So don't get it twisted like I'm some biased idiot from the west coast, I have an open mind and I speak the truth.
