Marconi Marine Radio Officer and GEC Marconi Engineer Douglas Zeeman spent all his working life on board the once mighty Marconi Company until it ran aground and disappeared down a deep abyss.
Now, living the dream, Doug still maintains his sea legs as Royal National Lifeboat Institution volunteer educator going into schools and youth clubs to teach safety and respect of what can often be a cruel sea.
Doug talks about his early working life on the seven seas and speaks of his latest venture as a living link with the era of shipboard Morse Code at the Titanic Honour and Glory Exhibition staged by Chelmsford Civic Society at the former lighting shop on the corner of Bond Street/Waterloo Lane, Chelmsford.

I never realised that Doug lived up to his name, next time I see him I will tell him you mentioned it on CZcams. Many thanks for your kind comment - would it be possible for you to say more!!!

@@crhnewsradiocity8526 Would it be possible for me to say more.....depends on what you want to hear and don't challenge me ;-). I loved the video and the way Doug spoke about his old profession or should I say: passion. For me too, it was by far out the nicest job I ever had and for that reason I became a hamradio operator (radio amateur) a couple of years ago so I can still send messages in the old morsecode. In 2016 an old classmate and I made a trip on museum tug 'Elbe' and we worked on the 20 meter HF- band with hamradiocallsign: PI4DWN/MM. czcams.com/video/G_VZZJFdnKs/video.html . BW from this side

@@crhnewsradiocity8526 I am pretty sure that I did say some more here, but I cannot find it back, don't know what went wrong. Aniway, my compliments to the way Doug explains the ins and outs of the nicest profession I have ever practised. Please pass my compliments to Doug if you will.
