“Don’t loan money you can’t afford to lose” That’s wise counsel.
When someone asks to borrow money (within reason, of course), I usually will just give it to them. I’ve found doing that saves the hassle of having to chase them down for it & possibly getting into a big drama with friends/family about money. I figure if I can’t afford to give it, then I can’t afford to lend it either. An extra advantage is that it tends to make people more likely to loan you money if you’re in a pinch.

Plus the lesson we all learned From Sonny, in "A Bronx tale"=
      Calogero:
He owes me 20 dollars. It's been two weeks now, and every time he sees me he keeps dodging me. He's becoming a real pain in the ass. Should I crack him one, or what?
      Sonny:
Sometimes hurting somebody ain't the answer. First of all, is he a good friend of yours?
      Calogero:
No, I don't even like him.
      Sonny:
You don't even like him. There's your answer right there. Look at it this way: It costs you 20 dollars to get rid of him... He's out of your life for 20 dollars. You got off cheap. Forget him.

ByEddie Murphy had several movies way before Coming To America. While still on Saturday Night Live, which he left in 1984, his first movie was 48 HOURS in 1982, his second movie was TRADING PLACES in 1983, his also did his stand up comedy show DELIRIOUS in 1983, in 1984 he did BEST DEFENSE and BEVERLY HILLS COP, in 1985 he did a music album HOW COULD IT BE?, in 1986 he did THE GOLDEN CHILD, in 1987 he did BEVERLY HILLS COP 2 and stand up comedy film RAW, then did COMING TO AMERICA in 1988. In The Golden Child, the young Tibetan boy that Eddie Murphy saves actually played by a young girl.

    1. Aykroyd made his bones first on the original Saturday Night Live.
    2. He also worked with John Belusi in the Blues Brothers. Worth a first time/share. You'll enjoy it. Trust me.
    3. Beeks is played by the late Paul Gleason. He also played Richard/Dick Vernon in The Breakfast Club and
the idiot deputy chief in Die Hard.
    4. The police officer that tells Louis the powder is PCP is Frank Oz the voice for many of the Muppets and Yoda.
    5. The studio didn't want Jamie Lee Curtis for the roll of Ophelia because they only saw her as a scream queen
but Landis insisted on casting her. Good for us.😍😍
    5. I like how sympathetic Coleman is to Billy Ray. You can tell early on that he has no love for the Dukes.
    6. In the restaurant when Billy Ray is about to speak it's a play on the old EF Hutton commercial.
"When EF Hutton speaks everybody listens"
    7. When Don Ameche says "Fuck him" regarding his brother he insisted that they use only one take because
it didn't want to swear at all.
Thanks for helping me re-watch (most of this) again.

One of my favorite movies. Trading Places was written and produced by Aaron Russo. Russo also Wrote and produced Bette Midler's hit movie- The Rose. Russo integral in bringing Led Zeppelin to the U.S. for their very first tour in the late 60's. His business and Hollywood success brought him to be invited to the inner circles of the elite where he made friends with Nick Rockefeller of the famous elite Rockefeller family. Rockefeller let him in on and was shown the inner workings of how these oligarchs ran the world above and beyond elected western governments. He refused to be apart of these secret societies and this was a major influence in his writing the screenplay for Trading Places. Later in life he would learn that he had terminal Cancer. Knowing that he wasn't long for this world he decided to put out a documentary called: America: Freedom to Fascism. This movie exposed how the International Banking Cartel controls the world Through the ownership of Central Fiat banking systems such as the Federal Reserve. This documentary woke me up to the likes of Ron Paul, who is a feature interview in the film. It was this interview that caused me to become a conservative. Not a Republican, but a political conservative by its true definition. In that gov. should be kept as small and non-intrusive as possible. The chaos we are experiencing today is due to the silent majority trying to return back the control of our government from these oligarchs. That is why the have to demonize Trump and others at every turn. Remember, He is not a life long politician and if you look into his past he has always spoke truth to this power. Trump is not special, they will demonize and destroy anyone who challenges them, like democrats Tulsi Gabbard, Dennis Kucinich and conservatives like Ron & Rand Paul, Desantis & Kari Lake. Oligarch George Soros was a turncoat jew, and as a boy worked with the German SS in exposing jews so they could be hunted down. Soros has for years usurped various democratic governments through financing Chaos. Presently he financed and provides legal help to the Corrupt BLM and Anti-fa movements that allowed violent rioting and burning of businesses taking advantage of the plight of marginalized communities and weaponizing them. Much like Hitler did with the Brown Shirts.

Casting facts. The producers of this film wanted Richard Pryor (for Valentine) and Gene Wilder (for Winthorpe) but neither of them were available for the movie. Also, they first asked Ronnie Barker to play Coleman the butler but he turned the role down. So we got Eddie Murphy, Dan Aykroyd and Denholm Elliot.
