    Thanks Sujoy for such a cleanly narrated video, I might actually go ahead and try to change the engine oil myself next time. I own a i10 grand manual, is there a simple of finding out if the alignment is balanced or not?

    • @SujoyShivde
      @SujoyShivde  Před 3 lety +5

      Yes that is the purpose of my video, to encourage people to try it themselves! Firstly, make sure your tyre pressures are equal by getting them checked or topped up to the recommended spec (I fill 33psi). Then, find yourself a relatively nice flat road and gently accelerate and see if the wheel stays straight in its centre position. If the road is properly flat and still the wheel pulls to one side, then allignment needs to be done. Balancing can be checked by being at 80-100 km/h or above and then checking if the steering has any vibration on a smooth road at that speed. That vibration if any, is contributed to by the Wheel Balancing.

      The engine tends to be slightly smoother after the oil change, you should see improvement in fuel economy depending on what all was changed e.g. filters, spark plugs etc. Cabin smell should be reduced and AC might seem more efficient if Cabin Filter is replaced.

    What is milege of the Petrol manual? and with the same engine, what is the performance like in cars likes i20 and venue? How do you like the car overall? Do u strongly recommend?

    • @SujoyShivde
      @SujoyShivde  Před 3 lety

      Petrol manual 1.2L kappa gives about 12-13 in the city. The engine produces similar figures in the i20 and Venue and that means it doesn't have any different tuning for those cars. This makes the i20 with the 1.2L Kappa not so impressive as an engine car combo. Same case in the venue. The 1.0 TGDI is much more capable, but the 1.2L Kappa is quieter and more comfort oriented. Overall, this i10 is a no thrill, functional and convenient car as a package I feel.

      @@SujoyShivde Thanks. So, what car do u recommend at this price (7-8lakhs) considering Maruti cars are not built very well

    • @SujoyShivde
      @SujoyShivde  Před 3 lety

      I feel at 7-8L we have limited number of good ptions, so we must prioritise about what you want. If you want a safe car, then the Tata Tiago, VW Polo, Ford Figo are the first options that come to mind. Polo would be the best pick when it comes to performance as the new 1.0 Engine is way more enthusiastic than Hyundai's 1.0 T-GDI. Figo and Polo are one of the best handling and driving cars in this price point, but Service Labour for VW is on the higher side while maintaining a Ford is very easy last many years. If you are in the city, I'd have highly recommend an automatic, but the mileage is on the lower side. For ultimate mileage, no competition to Maruti since their cars are the lightest, making FE the highest to attain. Hyundai engines are not super efficient, but the car build is 1-2 notches higher than Maruti for sure and the features are also very satisfying, but it won't appeal to the enthusiast. Polo appeals to enthusiast, currently has plenty of offers to make it even dearer but the rear space is limited :/

    • @SujoyShivde
      @SujoyShivde  Před 3 lety

      Sir depends on the type of oil you use and your running. Usually if you use mineral oil, it's less tolerant to stresses and high mileage. Modern synthetic oils can last upto 12000kms of annual running and sometimes even more, depending on the brand of the oil. 5000kms or 6 months is too soon and too unnecessary from an economic point of view. Frequent oil changes are good for the car, but if you use a better oil, then you don't have to do the oil change so early. It's best to trust the owners manual. Hyundai says 1 year or 10000kms, whichever is earlier. This is frankly true regardless of oil type, but frankly synthetic oils will fare better if you truly drive 10000kms+ in a year.

      Most manufacturers in India recommend the same grade of oil year round in India. For this naturally aspirated 1.2L Kappa, it's 5W-30. Also, most engine oils are now highly synthetic, which could perhaps explain why manufacturers themselves do not advise or insist on multi-grade engine oils as per the season.

      It is the oil that runs in your transmission. It is changed as per schedule. 75W85 is the transmission grade for Hyundai Manual Transmission. Gear oil is same as Manual Transmission Oil. About 2L needed for a full Gear Oil Replacement. About Rs. 800 max for the Oil. Changed every 5 years or 60k KMS, but exact schedule will be mentioned in your manual.

      Rotors acquire surface rust when the car is not driven daily. This can increase if the car is washed, driven through rains and idles. Usually, after a few braking applications, the surface rust is brushed off by the brake pads. This is a fairly normal process, and happens to all cars. Handbrake can get jammed so keep that released if the car sits for a long time
