I usually dip out a scoop of fish to look through, cull all the deformed, and then seperate the great color from the good color. Then dip out another scoop, I don’t ever put back into the cull bucket so that I’m not scooping some of the same fish over and over. Then as my great quality/color and my good color ones age I cull again and seperate them. Sometime ones I thought had great color quality end up getting downgraded to the good quality and sometimes vice versa.
I usually separate the sizes but mix sb to normal..from the time they reach 2 to 2.5inch i separate sb to normal ..You will notice that there molting or darken their color till they pill the black coloration & turn to color yellow, orange , white, brown , pink & red. Some of them will do late bloomers or fading some of them are early faders bloomer 😊thanks for your appreciation & welcome to my channel.👍
