...they sit inside these aircrafts so close together they can smell their bad breath 🫁😷
Wrong, he says they complete Officer Candidate School. Other commissioning source include ROTC and the Naval Academy. I’m sure Annapolis grads are not excluded from Marine One duty. Even more rarely you can Cross-commission from one of the other Academies.
I didn’t realize Navy helo pilots went through T-6 training unlike the AF and Army.
As far as chosing the best, well I’ve dealt with a few and when we were carrying their helicopters they tried to provide wing tip clearance on the ground for my Aircraft taxiing to parking. They were in a rush to get the Helo off the plane. They would have run me way too close to another airplane. Also they didn’t bother checking behind the aircraft because my jet blast would have pushed one corporate jet into another.
Now that I know they have fixed wing training I’m not impressed. Don’t trust anyone with your aircraft especially Marine one pilots.
That ended up being one hard thrashing between an AF Reserve Pilot and a Marine One Major. Guess who got the short end of the stick. A Marine One pilot doesn’t even come close to an AF UPT DG Reservist and Major airline pilot. He was about 2 inches tall at the end.
Airplanes are like boats, don’t rush things on the hard surface. Even a basic GA pilot who understands this is better than any Marine one pilot
